  1. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Got Moon today. Just made a start on the game, wasn't quite expecting the whole thing to be so cinematic early on... Also already found a Gen I reference
  2. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Should have the game by midday.
  3. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Cheers for the heads up. I can appreciate with such an ambitious project trying to cram it onto a 3DS with a developer that doesn't have a lot of experience with 3D games can lead to glitches like this, shame that it's the Pokemon Centre this time around where the glitch is occurring.
  4. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Arguably Pokemon has been a bit on the decline in Japan recently, especially during the success period of Yo-kai Watch over there. But also more Japanese gamers are preferring to play on their phones rather than a traditional console so the "3DS market" is going to have decreased.
  5. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Well that's a shame. Looks like Pokemon are still going to be bred for perfect IVs then. Not got a pre-order, planning to go into town the morning of the game's release in the UK to buy the game. Hopefully before they're out of stock, though I can't imagine they would short stock a Pokemon game when stores know that they sell like buttercakes.
  6. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Took until Pokemon White to find my first Shiny (that wasn't Gyarados). Found a shiny Frillish at the P2 Laboratory. I'd already got a Frillish but couldn't really turn down getting another one. I since trained it and evolved it into Jellicent for the Pokedex. Since then I've also got a Shiny Golbat (now a Shiny Crobat), a Shiny Lunatone and the Shiny Seaking. All in White and HeartGold, every other game I've gotten I've never managed to find a Shiny. With regards to the Sun and Moon anime, I'm a bit mixed on the animation myself and I'm also not quite sure how they've handled a character that's based around making puns with Pokemon names when said puns are only going to really work in Japanese. That said, the fact that they gave Bewear a high pitched sqeaky voice really added to the character of that Pokemon: Can't wait to be able to use one on my team.
  7. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Sweet, always a great moment when you find a shiny Pokemon for the first time. Is it for a Pokemon that's already been revealed or existed in a previous generation and if so, what Pokemon did you get a shiny of? (Related Note: Found a Shiny Seaking on HeartGold today. That game's given me two shinies now and both came in Mt. Silver)
  8. I must admit to having something of a similar problem. I have game save files on the go on the following games which I have yet to finish: Final Fantasy X Xenoblade Chronicles X Burnout 2: Point of Impact LEGO Star Wars II F-Zero GX Timesplitters 2 Viewtiful Joe Dragon Quest IX de Blob Rayman 3 (Don't even know if this file exists anymore) World of Goo Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (I have a legit reason for not playing this any further, the game crashes at a certain point) Donkey Kong 64 Metroid Prime Trilogy (albeit I've completed all three Prime games before) Super Metroid (I kind of got myself stuck in the run-up to Ridley's hideout) Metroid Prime: Federation Force Mass Effect 3 All these games crying out for me to finish... and I find myself instead caught up in the 20th anniversary of Pokemon celebrations recently and trying to fill up my Pokedex. When Sun and Moon come out I will probably just end up playing Moon. I think the problem is that having a backlog of games is all well and good, but forcing yourself to play games just to finish kind of kills the enjoyment when perhaps certain games are ones you are just naturally more interested in playing and in the present moment get more out of. I started my file on Xenoblade X nearly a year ago, I am still only halfway through the game. EDIT: Not forgetting Oracle of Seasons but I may have lost the SD card that the Virtual Console version of that was stored on.
  9. I blame 4chan.... ...On a serious note, I think it just depends on how popular a franchise is within online circles that tends to determine how much coverage and interest the internet is likely to give it, plus it makes it more likely for it to be leaked because people are more interested. Also possibly more likely in games which have a competitive metagame, those who play these games competitively are usually most interested in how the stuff that the new games will bring to the table will affect the overall competitive scene. Since these are competitive players, as far as they are concerned the sooner they know this information the better, seeing as it will help give them an advantage over players who don't quite know what they're doing. But mainly I think it just depends on how much public hype there is for a game. I'm getting a bit tired of every Pokemon game that comes out getting all it's information leaked online before it gets released, and similarly all the surprises in Smash Bros. keep getting leaked (Brawl's entire roster leaked online the day before it came out in Japan, Smash 4 had something similar leak much sooner including the existence of Shulk in the game right before they actually revealed Shulk) and I can imagine there are other game series out there on other consoles where stuff leaks before release. In fact, just reading up on it now, parts of CoD: Advanced Warfare were apparently leaked online and obviously those games sell by the bucketload every year and a strong community for those games has built up. Also, some desperate Youtubers who will post anything they find about certain games online including leaks just so that they can have some content and make money off their partners.
  10. Pokémon Sun/Moon

After resisting looking at spoilers for so long, I've found myself caving it as far as stats are concerned and have taken a look at the stats of the all the starters as well as select Pokemon that I'm interested in using.

You have the game now then?
  14. Pokémon Sun/Moon

What Pokemon really needs is camera controls now. If we're going 3D, at least allow us to be able to control the camera rather than forcing us to walk into the screen with not much idea of where we're going. I realise that it's perhaps not as important in an RPG as in an action/platformer/FPS/adventure game to be able to see what's ahead of you but it doesn't feel right moving into the screen for me. Final Fantasy X had a similar problem, made even bigger by the fact that most of it's environments were simply a straight line so if you ever wanted to go back along some route you were always going into the screen. (Keep in mind that I only got FFX during the last year or so and haven't completed it yet)
  15. Pokémon Sun/Moon

To be honest, the damage was effectively already done. Those who illegally downloaded the game also decided it would be a good idea to share absolutely everything about the game via leaks. It's good that Nintendo have acted on this, but I would guess that those who downloaded it early were doing so not only to play the game, but to get information out there on the internet before anyone else. Therefore, getting the info out there on the web might be considered "job done" by some. The things some people will do to be the "first" person to complete a new Pokemon game and explain everything...
  16. Pokémon Sun/Moon

This game really must be something rather special if IGN aren't giving it a 7.8/10 for having too much water. On another note, the game is out in just a week.
  17. Your 2016 Gaming Diary

Started playing Golden Sun this year. Heard good things about the game from others so wanted to give it a shot. Clocked in quite a bit of time with the game now and I've just revived the people of Kolima from all being turned into trees. Has some interesting touches, like the fact that there's a canonical explanation about critical hits (which sadly I failed to capture on screenshot in Miiverse) but I did screencap a following part of the game: You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse That said, I did tackle Tret Tree initially with Ivan dead and no idea how to revive party members, only once my entire party was wiped did I find out exactly where you had to go. Later on, I managed to get stuck at this point: You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse How was I supposed to know that assigning Psynergy to the Shoulder buttons sometimes makes it do different things from it's usual function?
  18. Xenoblade Chronicles X (4th Dec)

This game has really struggled to catch my attention much, but I've ploughed on through it when I can. Had the game for nearly a year and nowhere near close to completing it, only just beat Chapter 6 and completed the Skell License Test. It's on hold at the moment as something to complete at a later date once Golden Sun and Pokemon Moon are finished.
  19. Pokémon Sun/Moon

I had a feeling that Incineroar's Z-Move would involve the opponent being put in a wrestling ring and Incineroar jumping off the bars. Probably because Pikachu Libre has almost the exact same special in Pokken but it seemed like the obvious. I did however think that Decidueye would be firing a massive arrow in midair for it's special Z-Move but the one we got is pretty cool. I will admit of the three of them though that Primarina's got the best animation for it's Z-Move.
  20. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Looks like CoroCoro has leaked. (Not really sure at this stage whether CoroCoro should count as Spoilers or not, so I'll tag if for now but may untag it later.)
  21. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Thing is, Pokemon is a series in a position where they could hype the game up to ridiculous levels, reveal as much as they want, have the contents of the entire game leaked online a week or two before the games are supposed to come out and the games would STILL sell by the bucketloads. I get the feeling the backlash against the idea of introducing an entirely new set of 150 Pokemon for Black/White and having them be the only ones available has influenced their current direction, as partly evidenced by their re-introduction into the main storyline in B2/W2 but mainly from Gen VI onwards where a lot of decisions have been made based on the popularity of particular Pokemon. Ultimately I think the main reason why all the Alolan forms are Gen I only is because Pokemon from the original 151 have more mainstream recognition than any that came after it. The likes of Pikachu, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Meowth, Slowpoke, Magikarp, Snorlax and Mewtwo are generally more well known that someone like Garchomp, Lucario, Haxorus or Talonflame who may be infamous in the competitive scene due to how good these Pokemon are or have been but don't have the same mass appeal that some of the Gen I designs. Plus there's the "genwunner attitude" where fans believe nothing will be as good as the original games and they have probably been trying to appeal to those kind of people too.

Speaking of those buses... it's actually part of a competition Nintendo are doing: (Side note: this place really needs to allow you to be able to embed Twitter posts, feels like you have everything but that here)
  25. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Yeah, I've seen glimpses of things here and there, like an in-game screenshot of a Decidueye that was meant to showcase it's stats although all I saw was three moves, along with a random complaint on another forum about some of the changes made for competitive battling this season which apparently they saw fit to post without the requirement of spoilers. So that's unfortunate.
