  1. I also have it. I got the Wii version and my mate got the 360 version. First we played it on the 360 and it was enjoyable once we got used to the controls and obviously graphically it was great.

We then moved onto the Wii version and I was very disappointed. As Owen says the menu is awful and I thought gameplay graphics were as poor, but I guess it's never a good idea to play the same kind of game on the Wii immediatly after the 360, but even so the game generally looks bad.

Controls. Basically it seems the nunchuck is the key, not the remote. You move your player with the nunchuck, and although you swing with the remote, you direct your shot with the nunchuck. I wanted more control with the remote, it didn't feel I was exerting any difference in my play with the remote (maybe power only? I couldn't tell).

Serving is all about timing and it's quite difficult. You have to get all sorts of bars and lines in the right places. How about just lifting up and throwing down?

We didn't play for long, so my views may change as I play a little more, but right now I wish I got the 360 version!

  2. This could be quite fun thanks to the controls, but probably would get pretty boring quickly. Looks like they're going for some sort of character record - I'd imagine they'd include all the well-known characters and it looks as though they're going to include all those minor characters as well.

  3. New comp looks good. I prefer it when you have to do a course in the quickest time. Wasn't keen on comp3, though I guess it's something different.

Does anyone go on line on this? Noone ever seems to be on. If you do go on quite a bit and you have friend room add me because I like to go on a fair bit, but much prefer racing people I at least know in digital form :)

I'll add you, I'm looking for more friends. Anyone else want to trade friend codes? Retro_Link, Serebii, Rowan, Deathjam, Zechs, Moogle, Coolness, Tales, darksnowman? :heh:

  4. I just tried the Grumble Volcano one and it didn't recoginise crossing the line on any trip round?!

There are two key points on the rocks which you have to touch/pass. I also had trouble at first, but now it registers the laps every time.

First one: drive high on the rock nearest the finish line - the first corner.

Second one: drive high on the pointy rock - the one just before you turn left to see the finish line.

  5. I suppose you can have your moment but spare a thought for the poor people who worked hours to get a genuinely good time on that track only to see it wiped out by a bunch of cheats! :indeed: It's a good find of course but once everyone saw the WR video, it was hardly a major achievement afterwards.

Yes I did feel for those who set the old records, but when I looked yesterday and saw the Top 10 was already filled with low times and by some of the best players, I thought I may as well have a bit of fun and try and set a low time too.

  6. Nintendo are deleting times from the Grumble Volcano Top 10. The record I set yesterday has been deleted, so I set a quicker one of 24.909 this morning, currently #7 worldwide :heh:

I wonder if Nintendo will just continually delete times or permanantly get rid of the bug, but I don't see how they can...

  7. Anyone seen the insane shortcut at Grumble Volcano?!

I have a 26.571s total time now! This was #5 worldwide earlier (Pierrepont). I don't think Nintendo are going to allow it though. The Top 10 was different earlier and times have been deleted. I imagine mine will soon as well.

It was fun to do though, and quite difficult to pull off ;P

  8. Quality race. Championship's really tight now, just 6 points between the top four. Great win for Hamilton, even if he did get a bit lukcy, but heartbreak for Sutil. He looked like he was in tears when they showed him in the garage :(

  9. Super Champions League Final! Feared it may have been a repeat of the 2007 FA Cup Final, but it was the complete opposite. Drama all the way through, even rivaling AC Milan vs. Liverpool in 2005 for excitement.

I dislike Chelsea, but I did feel a little sorry for them, especially Terry. Apparently if Drogba had been on the pitch he would have taken the 5th penalty. Ronaldo's poor penalty effort deserved to be saved, though he did score an exquisite header.

The CL went right down to the wire to round off a great season...well not quite yet, there's still the Play-offs ;). Here's hoping next year's as good.

  10. Got into a Continental Top 10 for the first time!

After much hard work I got 1:45.581 on N64 Mario Raceway to sit 10th :awesome:. Wonder how long it will last...

Anyone else got into the Top 10 for any track?

  11. I think the retro tracks on the Wii are fairly good, some are classics, others I don't enjoy. I guess they can't include all the best tracks, as they are saving some for future versions. With each new edition you get some good ones and some average ones.

1:41 on the comp with Funky Kong and Torpedo... I didn't use the best racing lines either as I'm not quite used to the bike, geez this is a fast combination!

Nice time! I think this is definetly the best combination for this track. Almost beat my 1:39 :p

  12. I have done the same, that's why I don't get rid of any games anymore. The really terrible thing is the fact you get next to nothing for them when you do sell them.

This is true, but sometimes a profit can be made. I guess it depends how long you leave it before buying back.

Also profit can be made from buying and then trading in. I remember a couple of years ago I bought Def Jam for 99p from GAME. Next day I traded it in at GameStation for £7! :p

  13. I must update the tiime trial thread a lot of records on my friend list have changed since I last recorded them.

It's a shame hardly anyone is entering their times there.

I'm happy to enter some of my times. Should I PM them to you?

  14. Amazing turn around by Forest! They were a long way behind at one time and Calderwood had given up, so congrats to them. Doncaster and Carlisle both really blew it and are in bad form, so Leeds for the play-offs! Shame about Bournemouth at the other end, their 6 game winning streak came to an end at the worst possible time.

All to play for at the bottom of the Prem. Incredible how teams like Fulham turn it on when they need to. Couldn't they just play as they are now earlier in the season? And Man Utd almost there, just one more win.

  15. How did you get that time? Please enlighten me. I raced using Bowser, on the Star bike, I got hit just once, wheelied most of the straights and power slided the corners. Please tell me your method?

Use Funky Kong and the Torpedo bike as this is the quickest combination on speed and a lot of the track is straight. The key is to get 3 mushrooms at the first item boxes (this takes a while and may result in many restarts). With these you are able to speed across several sections of grass and should be able to complete the first lap in 30-33s. For the second and third lap just do as you would in a time trial, hope for no major weapons (lightning or a blue shell) and keep a banana or green shell to get rid of any red shells. That's pretty much it, good luck and let me know how you get on.

  16. So we failed in our appeal. The three man panel ruled the league had not acted unfairly when docking the points for us breaking competition insolvency rules. Ken Bates has accepted the decision, so I guess that's that. Yay playoffs...
