  1. Thanks for the tip. Indeed, it is easy to make a wrong step and loose a Pegasus knight here and there, and be forced to restart a chapter (I completed boarding the ship without loss and having visited two houses and befriended the Myrmidon in Chap 11 on the third try). But does one get to a point where, even with good play, precious combatants must be lost in order to move on? You guys are talking about Normal mode now, right? How much harder then is "Difficult". Of course I could just try myself, but I'll first complete "Normal"... By the way, did you realize that there is heaps of online stuff on Fire Emblem. A Google search picks these dedicated websites where trued devotees are just raising the bar in terms of gaming perfectionism... Cheers,
  2. Hello, I did get PoR and have begun playing it at the difficulty level "normal". However, after completing chapter 9 I find that the game is rather easy. Will it become increasingly hard as the game progresses (as I would hope), or do you advise that I should start a new game on the "difficult" setting? The game is great with story, visuals, menu, options, controls and sound effects. But I wish it was a little more challenging so far. It is possible that the early chapters are easier to allow players to learn the ropes, but having gone 9 chapters I'm still looking for a challenge... Cheers,
  3. F-Zero Wii (speculative)

I partly feel the same. F-Zero GX was an amazing racer but it lacked the extra spice that came from attacking other racers and gaining energy from it. There were times though in F-Zero GX when the only way to win overall was to take out a particular vehicle, which was very rewarding when a success. I certainly hope Nintendo doesn't change the basic formula for F-Zero for the sake of a Wii controller novelty: it is one of my true favorite games! Online racing, X-Cup (as in N64), ability to build own tracks and share them online, exchanging ghosts, that sort of things would be welcome. Take the best from the previous versions, improve the graphics, offer plenty of tracks, story mode (as in GX), have online leaderboards... That sort of things.
  4. Top Ten Gamecube Games

    1. Metroid Prime 2. F-Zero GX 3. Time Splitter 2 4. Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader 5. Wave Race 6. Resident Evil (the first one) 7. Super Monkey Ball 8. Madden Football 2003 My list ends at 8. I owned a few other GC games, but none that I would think deserve a spot on such a list. I'm kind of amazed at how many good GC games some of you seem to own... My budget and time simply doesn't allow me to have such collections, which make me a little red with envy of course. On the whole, people seem to have pretty good game taste... Crayfish

Ahh. Wii Sports Training... Yes. I hadn't tried that one... But in fact it is a pretty good idea to polish one's shots with it. For those who haven't tested this yet: the training is like a set of mini games that help polish your skills for the five actual games... Today I scored a fitness age of 28. Big improvement... Also: I actually enjoyed trading my Mii for a random one: it really spices up the unexpected...
  6. Wii Launch - Report For N-Europe!

Regarding the Wii packaging... I've been an Apple product owner for years now, and I always get a delightful experience out of unpacking their products: everything is PERFECT. Every bag, instruction book, cord, is neatly and cleverly presented. The logic of the unpacking lends itself to a satisfying setting up experience. Well it seems to me that Nintendo has stolen a page from Apple's book: they nailed the whole thing just right. It was just a pure pleasure to open the box, connect the wires, mount the sensor bar and get everything ready. This was followed by a painless software setup: in no time at all I was WiFi connected, had created interesting Mii's and had even checked what's on offer at the Wii Shop Channel... The same can be said about Wii Sports: the way the game tutors you as you go, then ceases to tutor if you are using an experienced Mii. That is realyl clever. Then how the game adjusts the level of the competition as you yourself improve, and does that automatically. Really pleasant I must say. So a very big THUMBS UP for Nintendo!
  7. Wii Sports Thread

I have some questions about Tennis. I managed to Ace the serve only once and I tried to repeat the same motion without luck. Is this just something that happens every now and then, or is there a motion one should try to polish? Also, I've been experimenting with different swings, and I find that I get different effects if I'm slicing or doing a top spin. However, the whole things seems a little counter-intuitive. Certainly the slicing action seems to result in lobs most of the time for me. Finally, so far what I seem to understand is that if you want to make a speedy low return, then it is really best to wait until the ball has fallen quite low before returning it with a quick gesture. I get most of my winning points this way. I don't think I got a single attempt at a smash to really succeed. Anyone managed a smash? Really fun game, for sure. By the way I got a fitness age of 62. So there is plenty of room for improvement...
  8. Wii Launch - Report For N-Europe!

My experience has been painless: I pre-booked a couple of months ago in a EB Games store in Sweden. That store got 20 Wii's on the first shipment, and I got one of them on Dec 8th. But they had no extra remotes, no games or anything extra that I could buy... I got my console box and that was all. Still a ton of fun. I heard that the store will be getting another 20 consoles before Christmas, totalling 40 for them, which doesn't seem like many at all. Anyway, I feel privileged to have gotten some action right on day 1. Does anyone know if I can expect shelves with Wii games in any store before Christmas? Or is the only way to get Wii games this year is to have booked them already?
