  1. I heard the Wii U scales up Wii games. Wonder if the increased resolution will make the distance paint shader more obvious, because as it is now, I couldn't see it until someone pointed it out to me. I've seen emulated HD screenshots where the effect truly pops out and looks amazing.
  2. Wii General Discussion

I'd say that this is excellent to counter consumer confusion. The Wii looks a bit too similar to the Wii U, so Nintendo redesigned the Wii. Why pull the plug on a successful console? Despite me not wanting it to happen, the Wii U may be a total flop. Nintendo kept earning money from the NES until well after the N64 came out. The Wii and Wii U aren't competing. The Wii was aimed at casuals, and now with a reduced cost and more colourful design, it can truly become a kids console. No, seriously, today way too many parents decide to get their kids tablets instead of consoles, because it's cheaper. This could make them come to their senses. Overall, I love this design, although I'd rather see the lid in a glossy plastic rather than that sort of rough industrial finish.
  3. Wii General Discussion

To be honest, Nintendo probably are going to discontinue the Wii online services some day, and the day the current Wii will stop getting new online content is even closer.
  4. Wii General Discussion

I think they see the danger of modern dumb ass parents buying their kids iOS-devises instead of consoles, because many iOS games are free. So they're making their hugely succesful Wii smaller, cheaper and more colourful. After all, the Wii U isn't a guaranteed success. A very sound business practice, IMO.
  5. Sequels you would like to see

Not to be repetitive: Microsoft aren't doing anything with it, so I'd like to see Nintendo buy the license and give it to Retro. Although I don't want them to do anything to Joannas appearance. While I love the XBLA remake, I think that the new Joanna looks horrendous:
  6. Reggie - CNN interview

    They should've shown Pikmin 3!
  7. Reggie - CNN interview

On a more serious note: yes to the second part. At the start of the current generation, I was beyond myself with glee when I saw tech demos depicting battles with hundreds of enemies and friends running across fields, able to do proper pathfinding and seemingly inteligent behaviour. Then we got CoD where you fight alone, walking through narrow corridors that put Starfox to shame, firing weapons with no recoil against scripted enemies who are too stupid to attack more than three at once. It sold by the trilions and now everyone is copying it.
  8. Wii General Discussion

Just what I've been looking for for all these years! What's it called and how do you get it?
  9. So, there's a different thread about whether people are hyped or not. There's no denying that a lot of Nintendo fans are disapointed. But rather than another negative thread, I want this one to focus on what Nintendo SHOULD do. So: what should Nintendo do to make you hyped for the Wii U? My personal list is the following: 1) Full fledged Nintendo games Nintendo are already starting off quite well with Pikmin 3. What Nintendo need to do is to start churning out core games at a higher pace. One or two per year just won't cut it. F-Zero, Starfox, Pilotwings, 1080, Excitebike and Waverace are just a few franchises which didn't show up for the Wii U. 2) Non-typical Nintendo games Yet again, Nintendo have started off well with the Bayonetta 2 reveal, now they just need to get going and do more. When I got an N64, I only ever had second thoughts for ONE reason: Gran Turismo. Next year i'll have been waiting for fifteen years. Beyond that, it'd be great for a Nintendo console to once again have a great FPS. The N64 had Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, let's hope the Wii U has something equally good. 3) Visual showcase The Wii U is more powerful than its current gen competitors. Nintendo need to create a game that shows how supperior it is. This would satisfy fans, make graphics lovers interrested in the console and of course: it'd set the bar for what other developers do for the format.
  10. How to get you hyped again?

Going back on topic: I also would love Nintendo to buy back all of the Rare IP's.
  11. Scribblenauts Unlimited

Total Biscuit reviewed this today. Seems like a complete blast to mess around with it.
  12. I'd really love to see a MUCH older Beta of Perfect Dark, or even an Alpha. Something containing a bunch of stuff that wasn't in the final game.
  13. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

I can't tell much of a difference. Certain textures appear sharper, while the pic of that black guys face seems to have more details. For some reason, the Wii U's colours generally appear to look more washed out. Also, the PS3 version looks a bit darker, so I can't tell if there are some more shadows, or it's just the textures coming out darker. Also, I'm quite generally concerned about the lack of people playing this online.
  14. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Don't say that! Now I actually have to consider buying a CoD game!
  15. Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition

This seems quite amazing! Deffo going to pick it up sooner or later.
  16. Nintendo Land

Why does it always boil down to this argument? When and where have I said that Nintendo should make a military shooter? For your info, I don't like most modern military shooters. I hate how they market themselves as realistic, when they aren't in the slightest. I hate how the stories are bland, pointless and completely unrealistic, I hate the basically on-rails singleplayer level design. I also DESPISE how you play as americans in every single game, so that half of the weapons you unlock ar pimped out versions of the M16. If I'd want Nintendo to make a military shooter, I'd like them to make it more like Goldeneye than CoD. What I've constantly been asking for however, is to have Nintendo make new iterations of their old franchises which stack up against it's contemporary competitors as well as the old ones did. I'm not saying that Nintendoland is bad, I'm just saying that I've got great difficulty believing that it's worth such a high score. I can't really speak for others, but my experience is that when people complain about Nintendos lineup for the last few years, the automatic retort is that the complainers want gray CoD-clones, which isn't the case. But yes, my experience is that minigame compilations, with extremely few exceptions, practically are a seal of badness. Sort of comparable to film license games.
  17. Metroid on Wii U

Yes please An HD Metroid truly setting the bar for what we can expect from the Wii U would be ust purely amazing.
  18. Nintendo Land

Ummm... what? I thought it only needed a Wiimote + Nunchuck, which came with every Wii In that game you can even play most of the minigames with just a single Wiimote. Only boxing and tennis required you to have a wiimote each... and those were arguably the least enjoyable minigames.
  19. Nintendo Land

I don't want this to turn in to a big argument, but... That something can't be done on another system isn't a proper reason to give a game high scores. Visually it's not what I'm expecting from a next gen system. In fact, most of the time, I'm seeing better on my 360. The use of the controls are forced at times, among other things I've understood that the F-Zero game is controlled by tilting the controller, something that's been proven to not work on the PS3 (remember when all games HAD to use sixaxis, and how nowadays not a single game uses the sixaxis at all?). The best minigames require human players, but there's no online, and at least all of my friends have sold their Wiis long ago, so those modes will NEVER get played. A 9.0 is something you give the likes of a new Fallout, Saints Row, Assassins Creed and is just shy of what you'd give a 3D Mario, Mass Effect or Battlefield and I'm sorry, but I can't possibly imagine this is as good as those games. Nintendo have made so many bad decisions, and sadly I can see that they've invested a fair ammount of money and man hours on this. Not to sound like a broken record, but I bet that Nintendo could've made a proper HD Nintendo title for that money instead. You know, like a 3D Mario, Metroid, a proper Excitebike 64 sequel...
  20. Nintendo Land

I'm completely baffled as to how this game is getting so high reviews.
  21. Is that the fairy fountain/OoT main menu that's played when they create characters?
  22. ZombiU

Consider how ammo is supposed to be scarce, there's surprisingly many weapons you can spot in the screenshots.
  23. Mass Effect 3
