  1. I was pretty disappointed.

    Spoiler

A few of the things that irked me:

    - Leia flying through the vacuum of space and waking up a little while later virtually unscathed. I understand she's force sensitive but that was out of nowhere.

    - Luke was pretty unbelievable in generally really. He turned the most reviled man in the galaxy back from the dark side, yet a few years later makes a conscious decision to murder a child, his nephew, in his sleep because there's a chance he'll turn one day.

    - Snoke was pretty pointless in the end.

    - The revelation of Rey's parents was so underwhelming. Even if it turns out Kylo lied that'll feel like a copout.

    - Too much comedy. I'm all for comic relief but not the whole way through. Very little tension in what should've been an epic move.

I have more but can't be bothered to write it all up.

I loved Rogue One. That third act was Star Wars perfection. And I liked the characters, especially the droid.

Episode 7. I don't get all the hate? It was a good. Nothing extraordinary like the first 6 episodes but it fits. Could've been spread out over maybe two episodes, though.

I didn't mind it either. Reminded me of Fringe and how they'd do one, even weirder than normal, episode each season (episode 19 I think.).

I just beat Resident Evil VII this morning and never really expected to feel so disappointed by it :hmm:

The credits are STILL rolling but that final boss was terrible and, to be honest, most of the game never lived up to the hype!

Best horror experience I've ever had.. in VR that is. Being in that house was terrifying.

Now I just wonder how it’ll work with my poor eyesight. I’m sure I can’t wear my glasses but I really don’t feel like having to wear my contacts if I want to play.

There is enough room in the headset to wear glasses. Just be careful they don't slip onto the VR lenses.

  5. Haha, yes I realise I have essentially joined the dark side.

Anyway, the game is continuing to impress. The single player had a mission after I thought it'd finished, seemed like it ended with a possible hint towards a Last Jedi plot, but wasn't fleshed out enough to be a proper spoiler, perfect balance really.

The Mos Eisley 40-player map is breathtaking. Some of the maps do seem a little forgettable but there are some amazing Star Wars set pieces to play in here.

Hopefully, EA will sort everything out enough for players to return, it's actually really fun.

  6. So I caved and bought it because it's Star Wars season and I needed something to stop me spending money on other things. Anyway, the game is actually pretty good. Not sure if it's the newly increased internet speed at my house but I'm performing much better than the previous instalment. The maps are good, heroes are great (Kylo Ren is a beast!), and the single-player story has been enjoyable - if it'd been fleshed out and made a bit longer it could've been quite epic, but as it stands I'd just say good and enjoyable. It's been really fun and enlightening finding out what happens after Return of the Jedi.

Now they've removed micro-transactions, unlocking stuff is fine.

Being a chicken shit I haven’t played since then haha. I’m sure the game still focuses on the crazies (similar to RE4 had plenty of focus on Salazar). And as much of a chicken shit as I am. I kind of want to hold off and play the game in VR. Which I’m sure will scare the shit out of me.

It's definitely the best way to play. I mean, you're in the game. Can't get much better than that. But yes, it's truly frightening.

  8. I never played Galaxy 2 either. I got it for the WiiU a while back but didn't play for more than 20 minutes. I wasn't a fan of the Galaxy games really. I much prefered 64 and Sunshine, Galaxy felt too linear. I'd love a more open world Mario title, set exclusively in the Mushroom Kingdom, with plenty of linear, difficult platforming sections to be found. I always loved the cartoon as a kid and just wanted to explore the whole Kingdom.

The comedic expectation you had was probably down to Lourd and Miller's prior involvement with the film, which didn't end so well. Whilst I love their other works, I always thought that this would have been a bit of a strange fit - especially with it supposedly being Lawrence Kasdan's final screenplay, which he wrote with his son.

Nothing to do with them, never heard of them. It was more due to the fact Han always had a lot of comedic one-liners, his relationship with Chewie was very upbeat, etc.

I think that this trailer was much smarter, but have to agree that TFA's was clearly better in terms of hyping things up; ultimately, I feel that that boils down to the dependence on Original Trilogy motifs and music in the TFA trailer, whereas as TLJ's includes a lot of the new stuff we first heard in TFA.

Gosh darn, this film really can't come soon enough!

One of my favourite things about the new trailer was how dark and powerful they'd arranged the music we first heard in TFA.

One of my criticisms of TFA was that the music was too quiet (and on first watch a bit forgettable), but alas most movies have much quieter music compared with the 80s. To be honest most modern films have really forgettable soundtracks. I do miss films with really catchy and memorable themes.

I still put money on the reason we never know about that ship in previous incarnations is because its not star fleet its section 31 (discovery NCC1031.....)

I loved that episode very good, still feels very Stargate Universe (again still a great thing) but I was not overly happy the character I loved was killed off (but I read above she's listed in later episodes hmm)

Oh yeah it definitely seems as though they're section 31. Still kinda hoping they get flung somewhere far off so we can truly explore something new.

I also get SGU every so often, which I love. That show ended way before its time. :(

Really enjoying this so far, much more than I expected to. The change from an ensemble cast has freed it to change the wider world if needed and it definitely has a spark of old fashioned idealism at it's core, standing at odds with it's darker setting. I just hope any future seasons aren't also set around the war/conflict plot and we can do a little going boldly etc.

I'm kind of hoping the Discovery gets lost or something some everything they do will be "going boldly". Could also explain why we never hear of the ship in later series. It disappears and never comes back.
