Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4/Xbox One - 26 October 2018)
somme replied to Sheikah's topic in Other Consoles
I was also TeamNintendo so have also never played the first one. Seen a few videos here and there and it's Rockstar, so I'm all in if it does turn out to be a sequel. -
I really don't mind how slow the progress is - at least for now, who knows I could very well change my mind. But at the moment even the simplest of games and ideas (Tumble, Thumper) are thoroughly entertaining.

What I've played has been mind blowing, as I've heard others say this is another "Mario 64" moment. It's the first time since then I've been utterly and completely wowed. I mean, you're in the game. Robinson is an upcoming game that looks good, (dinosaurs!) and Star Trek Bridge Crew should be fun as long as you're not teamed up with assholes.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Move controllers are sold out in the UK. The Move controllers are very comfortable and having one in each hand in VR feels very natural.
-
Luckily I had some extra cash so bought a camera last year - can't remember the exact reason. Think it might have been for Alien: Isolation and Tearaway. There is a bundle that has everything in, though I'm not sure if it's US only.

Janeway getting debriefed was implied and the audience is intelligent enough to know how it went. We didn't need to see it. Pretty sure they got pardoned in advance, or it was discussed with Starfleet ahead of time. And Voyager was turned into a museum, at least in the future Admiral Janeway came from. We can assume saving Seven and Tuvok, and getting home a little earlier wouldn't have changed that. Though the books have the ship going off under Chakotay, I'm pretty sure the books aren't considered canon.

The slow speeds are annoying, but my Internet speed is so slow anyway I don't really notice any change.

Wayward Sky is another good one, and another one I didn't expect to like. I checked out the demo, enjoyed it enough to buy and am really loving the full game. It's charming! If you'd said a third/firstperson point and click (or look and click in this case) would work well in VR I wouldn't have believed you. And the short 3d platformer in Playroom VR has received high praise as well. Mario64 in VR would be amazing.
-
How would you have ended your ideal episode then?
-
It is out. Haven't tried that one myself. I tried out Thumper today. Not a game I would normally bother with/enjoy but in VR it's absolutely crazy. Even the simplest of games becomes so much more enjoyable when you're actually in it.

Never felt like that was unfinished. Been a while since I've seen their scenes together but pretty sure they reconciled everything via video messaging.

I read a couple of them and they were alight but again, I really don't feel the need for any post Voyager story. It would be obvious that the crew would split up and go their separate ways. I don't need to see that. The writers/show runners obviously agreed. Twas a perfect ending. They mission was to get home, they got home. And they only messed with the timeline on a few occasions.

The tracking is fine for me.

This. I looked into what happened, moreso than the few articles published by mainstream media, and she's suffered from a lot of mental illness/anxiety and gave up acting. Although her being chucked off Voyager may not have been to cause, it could have been a catalyst. In any way it certainly wouldn't have helped. It's good to hear she's doing much better know and is dealing with her mental health issues.

Also she was dating Neelix which the network considered "not sexy enough" so they made them split up.

Some of the games are very low res, some of them look amazing. Things will only improve as people get to grips with the tech. The visor mimics real eyes, so if you look to the side without moving your head it will be blurrier, just like real eyes. The less "realistic" games look the best. I guess developers just have to find the right art styles to get the most out of the current tech.

I'm going to try and forget I read that. :P

How different would it have been? Not very, just more complete with Tuvok being healed and Seven being alive! Their lives would still have gone their separate ways and they would have met at reunions. The show was about them getting home, not the stuff after. You may have wanted more but the show didn't need more. Sign of a good show though.

I saw Mulgrew at a convention and she talked about Kes/Seven. She was deeply hurt when they forced Kes to leave as she was very close to Jennifer Lien. I think she resented Ryan a bit, which wasn't Ryan's fault. But with Mulgrew being constantly watched over by the network (they never really believed a woman could carry the show) and fiddled with (how many hair cuts did she have?) and working 18/20 hour days, it's understandable, though not very nice, she took her frustrations out on someone. Personally I think they should've gotten rid of Harry Kim. We discussed this before. We saw how their lives would have been, minus Seven and Tuvok the alternate future in which Admiral Janeway goes back in time to get them home faster. They didn't need anything after they got back to Earth and we saw it in the distance. Their journey and story was complete and the alternate future scenes showed us what their lives would be like. I'm rewatching it at the moment, shall look out for this continuity issue with Starfleet finding them as I don't remember it occurring. But we can surmise the Doctor gave them their planned route home and they simply looked along it. With regards to the crew compliment. I'm on season five and it's been going down a few each season, to account for the deaths. It hasn't come back up again yet.

That is a good episode. I also love the one where the Doctor has to hide inside Seven. Jeri Ryan acts so superbly as the Doctor I forgot it was her acting and not him. The network heads made them dump Kes because there wasn't anyone "hot" on the show. They drafted in Jeri Ryan and didn't have the budget to keep Kes. It's a shame as I was really enjoying how she developed. Without her the Doctor wouldn't have been the person he was, though he in turn helped Seven on her journey from drone to human. I also liked how the crew got less formal. There's an early episode where Janeway says in normal circumstances she would've kept her distance but the nature of their predicament required they adapt. Just reached season 5 (again) and watched the episode where Torres is clinically depressed. The episode handles the subject well. Voyager was good for highlighting issues.

Haha that'd be hilarious. "We've finally got voice chat like you asked but have decided to leave everything else behind. The screen is in fact just a mirror. But you can only use the mirror after 11PM in case you're outside and catch the reflection of a child in it."

I just remembered that this is coming to VR. It's going to be amazing. There's a hint of what's to come in the music game Harmonix VR. There's a feature where you can play your own music and animate five different characters. You animate them for a certain amount of bars and it loops, once you stop moving they continue to move as you instructed. Dreams is going to be so much more than that one feature. It's probably my most anticipated game now!

I packed my WiiU away in the loft today. Haven't used it in many months, and it's been unplugged since at least June. I'm obviously still curious about NX but in the same way you'd be curious about the new album of a band you used to love immensely, but whose last few albums have been dogshite.
-
You're definitely not. Months if not years. He was only overshadowed by Wii, who I don't actually think was that bad.

It's nothing like that (yet). Just a huge cinema sized screen appears in front of you in a black void. You can adjust the size, medium is best for me. Feels like you're third row in a cinema. Large feels like first row. Was weird to be watching Peep Show in a "cinema"! EDIT: But to be fair it's not actually a VR app, it's just the normal Netflix app. You can also play any non-VR game in cinematic mode as well.
