  1. Might do some co-op Crackdown as well. Need to build up my guy first. I'm nearly at 3 star agility but the rest of my stats apart from firearms are crap. I've hardly done any driving yet.

Bought Alien Hominid as well now. Need to learn how to play it though.

I completed the SP yesterday then spent some time building up my skill achievements. Driving is pretty easy to get by just running over the baddies in the 3rd island with the SUV. Firearms is just using rocket launchers over and over. Strength is just kicking everyone. It's also worthwhile to find a boss with loads of easy baddies and just do the time trial over and over again using whatever weapon you need to build up.

I'd concentrate on getting strength up because I think that adds an extra life bar to your energy every level (lifesaver on some of the bosses!)

  2. Crackdown is one of the most fun games I've played in ages. Been jumping around collecting about 160-odd orbs, and blowing stuff up. Length of the game isn't an issue at all if you just mess about in the city.

I agree, I've only got the final guy to kill and then i've finished the story but i'll still be replaying it to try and get as many orbs and achievements as possible.

  3. just played multiplayer gears of war for the first time in a long time. I thought this game was all about cover and flanking? It seems that most of the ranked matches are just rushes for the best weapons then the usual circle strafe while firing at the enemies with a shotgun. It really disappointed me as i was looking forward to some cool tactical play.

  4. Actually, my xbox hit one year old about a month ago, and only a few crashes, bless him.

hey sparks we were playing 3 out of 4 of the same games.

Great minds think alike and all that.

I just played the demo of alien hominid though... too hard for me to enjoy the full version + i've got crackdown, enchanted arms + lost planet to complete

  5. can you download movies etc if you just make an American account?

I think you need an american credit card (with a valid US postal address) to buy points on an american account, but there's no IP location checking or anything so if you have one or have access to american points then it should work.

Too much hassle for me, even though I have access to a US Credit Card.

  6. It's coming up to my 360's 1 year aniversary....

I estimate 1 human year = 75 Xbox360 years so my 360 is currently picking the songs he wants played at the funeral, currently it's "Brick In The Wall" by Pink Floyd, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash and "Crash Boom Bang" by Roxette. My Xbox has a sick sense of humour.

  7. Hmmm I am really tempted to get Alien Hominid. I have 1220 points. I thought I only had around 800 for worms when it was coming out.

Damn dont know whether to get it or not. Worms will most definitely be 800 points, I'll need another 200 points.

    I caved and got it..

So is it worth the 800 points? I'm considering getting it tonight after work.

  8. Certificatiiiiooooon (King of Queens style..). I'm even more pissed my 360 chose now to die. If it's not back before it's out I'm gonna be fucked off. I can't have Worms sat on the Live Arcade while I don't have a 360.

If Worms arrives before your Xbox, I'm going to email you videos of me playing it and laughing every hour for 3 days... just cos I'm a bit of a tit sometimes.

  9. Not that I've played any version but apparantly the Xbox Live version is the same as the PS2/GC version which was substantially different from the Flash version. I think it will be a classic case of try before you buy for this one.

There's full details about the changes on wikipedia if you're interested.

  10. No offence to microsoft - but we got our first assignment today with XNA. To write snake so it could be played on the 360. First thing I have to say: Its crapiest crap piece of software I have ever used.

If microsoft want people to be writing games they want results. So you pick actions from the list and XNA just deal with everything from a shield. So you can't "get your hands dirty". Everybody here don't touch XNA if you want to keep your sanity.

Now Nintendo if your planning someth like this we want to make games without the bullshit of coding them drag drop insert actions -> build away, distribute play.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

Admittedly i've not tried the release version of xna studio but the beta i messed around with seemed perfect for what it is (initially) touted as, a bare bones game development environment for bedroom coders. Yes the shader pipeline is all wrong, the sound system only half works and the performance is on the poor side but it's still the first technology that allows end users to create content on a console platform. I'm not touching the current version because I'm waiting for proper Visual Studio 2005 integration but some people have got some great (and fairly low level) stuff written for it, have you seen the NES emulator, that's pretty advanced stuff right there.

We're you using the XNA studio express IDE from scratch or were you using some sort of pre-built helper engine such as the torque X engine because I don't remember coming across any of the drag and drop things you mention in the bare bones version I used.

  11. I heard that there is an option when you complete the game to switch all the gangs back on again. Does anyone know if this is true? I hope so otherwise there ain't going to be anyone to use my awesome superpowers on!

Apparantly yes... there's an option called "Crime On" or something like that. It's enabled when you kill all the bosses.

My plan is to "complete" the game once then concentrate on the achivements I didn't get. Then hopefully complete the new island they release as a download.

  12. Played some Crackdown and love it just the same as I loved the demo. I wanted to build up my guy and start trying to launch a car into the air but I'm going to have to wait until my 360 gets fixed :'( but I love it so far.

My sentiments exactly! I nipped home during my lunch hour to have quick blast, saw you sign in and thought "I know what he's online for!".

Levelled up my jump once and my strength once, killed two bosses and took 3 supply points in about 45 minutes.

While I was playing i couldn't help but think that this is what Dead Rising should have been, save regularly and with multiple restart points, instant fun, go anywhere, bosses that don't bugger off after 5 minutes, etc etc.

  13. Just wondering what peoples reputation levels are like on here? Should I be worried that it seems that quite a few people have chosen to ignore me because of "unsporting behaviour" according to my profile? Is this just normal due to the fact that some people will mark me as evil for no reason other than I beat them at a game or do i have a serious problem with my online behaviour that i don't realize is considered naughty?

  14. I have seen Test Drive pretty cheap and was wondering how it plays? Anyone played it on here when it first came out and is it worth picking up?

I played it early on and I really enjoyed it, the whole persistant mmo thing is great and the scenery is good to look at too. I considered buying it but always got sidetracked by something else.

  15. Rented Enchanted Arms today, seems like a typical jRPG at the moment, random battles, turn based combat, teenage angst. The strangest part is the cliche gay character which would be amusing if it was trying to be post modern or something... in the end it's just insulting my intelligence. I've barely started it though so you never know there may be some sort of twist to it at some point down the line

  16. If we're replacing the bongos for the remote and nunchuck, what about the hand clap microphone? Are we getting a microphone attachment for the remote or will we have to press a button or motion in some other way? All of these alternatives don't sound as intuitive as the hand clap.
