  1. Xenoblade Chronicles X (4th Dec)

I always found that by just doing some of the side missions I did not need to grind to level up in the game at all. The key to levelling up quickly is to always choose enemies that are a higher level than you that are small. You get much experience from them. I understand the frustration though. I had the same for some of the affinity quests where you need ridiculously high affinity with all of the characters to complete them. I am a sucker for the grinding in this game though as I love the combat so much. After I completed the main game and 100%ed the map I have just been grinding to build the more powerful mechs. Plus I am very much looking forward to the RFN spoiler cast on the game. I would say that John and James loved the game - almost as addicted as I have been, Greg liked the game a lot and Guilame liked the game for some of its better parts but was very, very annoyed by its flaws.
  2. Wii U General Discussion

    They have a 'news' section.
  3. Bravely Second

But then you never get the kill things in one turn bonus! I was dangerously addicted to seeing how far I could push that.
  4. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

I hope this is the case. I remember thinking the exact same thing at the end of the Wii lifecycle. They must be working all guns blazing on the Wii U as there is so little happening on the Wii front. Then E3 happened and we got part of Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros Wii U. Don't get me wrong, those were good games, but it made me wonder what they had been doing.

When the game comes, I may play the whole thing on fast froward.
  6. Nintendo Switch - Happy Switchmas Everyone!

So it is feeling a bit like Nintendo don't do directs any more. When it comes to the announcement of the NX at E3, do people therefore want an awkwardly worded press release and a single tweet or a press conference?
  7. Yokai Watch ( 29th April )

Indeed we are. Its the lack of information that annoys me the most. At least August would be a date for pre-order purposes.
  8. Yokai Watch ( 29th April )

Man august would be bad (so much for playing it on holiday). I love the fact that pretty much every Nintendo Europe and UK tweet now has replies asking for Fire Emblem Fates info and nothing (or very little) about the original game. Why don't they get the message?
  9. Bravely Second

Never could figure out what those set rewards were, while I was playing it. Its a shame you can't keep your levels/weapons/jobs onto the main game, but I suppose that would ruin the curve a bit. Is that real time for the moon stuff? Does it work when in streetpass mode?
  10. In or Out?

I think it would be a good step to increased civilisation of humanity in general for a group of countries to join together for a common aim, without invasion. If we left, isolation could well not be a problem, but the whole would be weakened. There are risks as Pratty has pointed out, but that is why this has been called the European experiment.
  11. In or Out?

I agree that having the EU Commission as unelected is not desirable. However it is the government in the UK that usually decides to initiate a law. The government appoints the cabinet. If you lived in Cornwall and they had voted only for the opposition as a whole, then from your point of view as a Cornish citizen everyone in that government has been appointed and will impose law upon you. It is different, but it is not as bad as it can be made to seem. I still think it would be better to campaign for a more democratic EU than give up and leave.
  12. In or Out?

I think the same is true on the country scale. If you identify as Cornish before British, the same argument you applied to the EU applies to this country as well. You have voted for your MPs only, a majority in London or elsewhere can impose laws upon you. EU Commission may be appointed, but so is The House of Lords, as well as the top Judges. Parliament, like the EU Parliament is mostly about blocking laws. If you identify as European then as a European whole, the council of ministers can be voted out.
  13. In or Out?

Sadly this may actually be true.
  14. In or Out?

Ultimately, in the future, I would not mind if it was a country, personally. Assuming there was better democratic reform. That won't be for everyone obviously. If it were though, it could be a model for how countries can set aside differences for the common good of peace and prosperity. Reform of the democratic approach is not currently on the table, no. I don't think that means it could not be. Actually though I think quite a lot could be achieved by stressing the importance of existing European elections on the perception that the EU is an authoritarian regime. (And of course shutting down the Daily Mail)
  15. In or Out?

Ultimately I would like to see a countries joining together rather than separating themselves. (How else are we going to achieve the future of Star Trek. :-) ) When it comes to the perceived lack of democracy of the EU, I think it would be better to reform the democratic approach of the EU rather than leave. After all, ultimately, a country based government will impose its rules on the country as a whole - including upon those that did not vote for them.

Wow that is impressive. I missed all of that about Magnolia's home town - is that the moon thingy? Did not really understand that. I also did not bother with the AR thingy because it was not convenient at the time. Magnolia's French thing is a bit odd. Someone in a review said that most of the time she is repeating what she just said in English, making the character seem somewhat deranged. I maxed out all of the levels of all the characters and all of the job classes that looked interesting. How can you tell what bonuses will get carried over? Did you try the extra experience mechanic? Not sure if that was in the first game but I love that - trying to most efficiently beat all of the enemies in 1 turn. I got a max of 3.0 at the highest point I think.
  17. In or Out?

I am in as well, for reasons of standing together as united countries and the trade. Also I think it has helped video game manufacturers treat the whole of Europe more seriously as a region compared to the dark old days.
  18. Bravely Second

I always feel that this year will be the year when they start making sense, and am then disappointed.
  19. Bravely Second

You are probably right in that, but don't hold it against this. I am just hoping that we get a release date for Fates before the summer.
  20. Bravely Second

So I finished the demo of the game and it has now hooked me in. The battle system is excellent as @Glen\-i and the reviews have mentioned although I think I am still doing it wrong (*). But I maxed out the levels of my characters and all of the classes that looked interesting. Bring on the main game. (* I can't say I noticed a boss attack pattern as such and got a bit addicted to using 4 brave points in one turn and then having three turns in the negative.) Also thank goodness for Halfsies - a skill that should be in every RPG. It takes an item and splits it across the whole party - even a Phoenix Down. Saved me quite a few times....
  21. Bravely Second

Eurogamer recommended: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-02-18-bravely-second-review This, and the cumulative effect of other positive reviews have made me lay down a pre-order, anyway.
  22. Wii U General Discussion

It may be a great game, but its higher than Pikmin, Splatoon, Xenoblade X and that just seems crazy. Its probably that I have had too many 2D platformers though.
  23. Bravely Second

So reviews seem largely positive - in the 8-9 (*) range and this is coming out next week. Positives seem to be excellent combat, the fact that the latter part of the last game that involved much grinding has been removed and some interesting new job types. (* Gameradar gave it 7/10, but the biggest criticism seemed to be some fourth wall jokes that did not fly.) Is anyone getting it? I think I will based on the reviews, if I manage to complete the demo this weekend. :p
  24. Wii U General Discussion

As far as Shovel Knight is concerned I don't have nostalgic feelings for any of the sources mentioned (despite having played them all at the time) and I just can't see most games that feed off that sort of nostalgia belonging that high in a best of list.
  25. Wii U General Discussion

Arrrrgh no. Agreed about YWW though.
