  1. I don't think a near-simultaneous launch of a new handheld and home console would be a fantastic idea. It'd be a marketing nightmare, and would probably prove too costly for most gamers. That said, I don't know how the theoretical hybrid idea would work either. Has anyone attempted a mock-up or any good theories about what an NX console-handheld-hybrid could entail?
  2. Marvel's Phase Three

That's confirmed! He's just not wearing the hood/mask thing in the film, apparently. Hugo Weaving doesn't seem keen on returning so I guess they'll have to recast if they ever pull Red Skull out of that wormhole.
  3. I agree, it's not healthy for their own growth either. They're stuck in a weird situation, in that they helped to carve not just a niche, but a massively new market with the Wii and DS... and they've lost it. They're left with the people who stick by them just because they're Nintendo - us. They're no longer really making the types of games that defined their blue ocean era, but at the same time they're still sort of clinging to that mentality with the games that they are bringing out to a degree. So do they move forwards and do what Sony and Microsoft are doing and try to shoulder their way back into the market they vocally tapped out of with the Wii, or create their own path again? It's a bit like lightning striking twice, because the Wii genuinely felt revolutionary to me when it came out. The pointer alone on the Wii Remote was incredible for me because I hadn't seen anything like that before, I'm sure many of the millions who bought it in the first few months felt the same way. I'm not exactly sure what they could do to break new ground like that again, but out of their options, I'd say that's their best bet for making a significant amount of impact again.
  4. Exactly. Nintendo Gamer pointed out three years ago that they could afford to operate at a loss for 38 years... not that that's any way to run a business, and I would imagine that's why there's been an increased focus on Amiibo, mobile gaming, and presumably the NX. I don't think we'll ever see Nintendo fully depart the console market as long as they're making money. They'll continue to do their own thing, because they have a core crowd of fans who will buy anything they put out on principle.
  5. Marvel's Phase Three

I think it's a logical follow-up to Age of Ultron, given that Ultron turning Sokovia into a huge meteor-bomb was ultimately Stark's fault in the first place. He's holding himself and the heroes accountable and supporting the government with the Sokovia Accords. Cap's motivations seem to revolve around Bucky on the other hand, which is a bit worrying, but I'm sure there's more to it... As for SHIELD, I'm not sure the world trusts their supervision following the revelation that the organisation was, for the most part, HYDRA. It's Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo, and Crossbones is seemingly hunting superheroes going by some of the photos.
  6. Wii U and 3DS Gaming Bargains

The GameCube Controller Adapter is £9.99 for a few more hours, which is the cheapest it's ever been I believe! Tempted to grab another one on the off chance I ever get 8 friends together with enough GameCube controllers...
  7. Doctor Who

I thought the Zygon two-parter was one of the best stories they've ever done, rounded off perfectly with that scene in the Black Archive at the end of the Zygon Inversion. Capaldi's speech was absolutely heart-wrenching, and more than made up for his wasted potential in the last series. I also thought Jenna Coleman was perfect as Zygella/Bonnie, apart from the fact that Clara and Zygella are identical, it was so well-acted it could be easy to forget that they're the same person. Sleep No More wasn't brilliant, and ended far too abruptly with no resolution from the Doctor's perspective (or the audience's for that matter). I think it's great that they're still taking risks with the format, even if the delivery was sloppy.
  8. Alien: Covenant

Neil Blomkamp's Alien 5 has been shelved for the time being as a result, which is a massive shame considering he had Sigourney Weaver on board to return. Hopefully that'll see the light of day once Ridley Scott finishes Prometheus 3/Covenant 2 or whatever it'll be called.
  9. Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow (3DS Virtual Console)

Do we think this will somehow be compatible with Pokémon Bank?
  10. Pokémon Picross

I remember when Picross DS came out at the same time as Puzzle League DS in 2007, they were both £19.99 (about £10 cheaper than typical DS RRP at the time) and had more longevity than anything else I bought for the DS. I'd happily pay for a retail version of this if it killed off the free-to-start aspect...
  11. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

The Collector's Album S1 is £7.99 from the Nintendo Store, and it comes with a pack of Amiibo cards. Worthwhile if you add other stuff to make it over £20 for free postage!
  12. Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash

Cheers man, no excuse not to at that price! And the Amiibo is still available on the Nintendo Store for £10.99.
  13. Nintendo Direct - November 12th 10pm

Alleged leak from bastions of the games industry NeoGAF. Take it with a few shovels of salt.
  14. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

I thought this day would never come! Anyone buying two for eight player matches? Don't think I'd ever have eight people gathered to play Smash, or enough controllers...
  15. Muse - Drones (8th June)

I went to two dates of the Psycho Tour in March and I've been dying to hear a studio version of Reapers since... and holy shit, they're really going for it with Drones! Is anyone going to Download next week?
  16. Treasure are bringing the sequel to the critically acclaimed N64 arcade shooter Sin & Punishment to the Wii. The first game was released for the first time in Western territories last September on the Virtual Console for 1,200 Wii Points, and you can see a snippet from the new title in the Media Summit video montage. http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=12394
  17. 3DS Console Discussion

The Xenoblade one looks lovely, seems like a good time to jump on board the New 3DS train! Are they all out June 26th?
  18. Stars Catalogue/Updates

Has anyone gone for it? It's still available and I just spent an hour scouring my collection for codes and filling out surveys, just scraped 6000 Stars! I know I'm gonna kick myself if it disappears and nothing good comes out for the catalogue in the coming months, and at the same time I'll be pissed if I blow all my Stars and something else awesome comes along. DECISIONS
  19. amiibo (NFC)

Payment's been taken for Sonic and Mega Man on Shopto, but the order/preorder has disappeared from the account... Anyone had any experience with them pulling this shit before?
  20. Wii U VC

Wii games are pretty overpriced, there's fewer reasons to hike the price than to lower it: - Metroid and Kirby are incredibly expensive second-hand, Nintendo don't see a penny of this - Wii U games on the eShop frequently dip below £10/15 - Kirby's Adventure was a late Wii release and I'm guessing it didn't sell too well, a bargain price point would hook in everyone who missed it. £17.99 can get you a brand new retail game - Sony have done a few HD remasters, most of which can be found either on PSN, eBay or web retailers for less than £17.99. Nintendo haven't touched it in any way, why are these games more expensive than HD remasters on other platforms? Hell, you can get PS1 games for less than a fiver on PSN, how much are N64 games going to be if Nintendo eventually upload any, £10? I love the idea of what they're trying to do with the service, I just think that as usual for the VC/eShop, the implementation is way off.
  21. We seem to be tripping events right now, here's what's going off this month in case anyone's missed the announcements: Mystery Gift serial codes active now: Serperior - POKEMON497 Emboar - POKEMON500 Samurott - POKEMON503 There's a serial code distribution event starting February 13th (tomorrow) at GAME stores for Darkrai, which works across all the 3DS Pokémon games. Aaaand from February 27th if you log into Pokémon Bank you'll get the final evolutions of the Johto starters: Feraligatr, Typhlosion, and Meganium. All from the place where legends come to life.
  22. Bayonetta 2

Bayonetta 1 and 2 Double Pack is currently £34.99 at Argos (order for store collection to save on delivery costs), and for an extra 99p you can chuck in Metroid: Other M! Three (presumably) excellent games for a damn good price! Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident and FIFA 13 for Wii U also available, but who cares? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3257702.htm
