  1. Capcom streaming live gameplay right now.

EDIT: The stream is now finished but the gameplay starts at around the 46th minute for those wanting to take a look.

The new LS attack looks awesome.

I have been refraining from commenting just to contain my hype but I can't do that anymore. The map is HUGE.

Damn why are the streams and vids from Japan in such low quality?! I want to see everything in more detail.

Anyways hugely looking forward to this.

  2. Ok so having not played it, and just going on what the director has been saying in interviews about input/execution simplification in this game, I wonder if they're going to release a completely stripped down game without a lot of serious competitive and tournament potential.

I really hope that everything you can do in this game isn't just a series of canned auto-combos and flashy looking assists, and that there's actually some scope for a variety of mixups, cancels, crossups, fakeouts, parries and all the other good shit ASW are known for. Can't wait to get my hands on a demo or something.

I watched a metric buttload of Dragonball growing up and it'd be so fucking good to sit down with some childhood buddies and play some versus matches where skill plays a large part and you're not just mindlessly mashing to make cool shit happen on screen.

This may kill some if not of your mentioned fears:

  3. Whelp through certain events a trophy glitched out on me annnnd I had to buy one despite doing it legitimately. Oh well.

Platinum'd this fantastic game. Everyone should play this at some point. There is literally no excuse for a person to not complete the main endings, an easy mode that basically plays combat itself is provided.

The Naughty Children trophy. Apparently it won't unlock in route C period, I didn't realize I missed it until after upgrading all weapons which put Emil into his end state where you fight the copies in the desert. Post that fight I can't get him to spawn outside of cutscenes and his home is locked. Soooo fuck it.

    Edit @Deathjam https://www.amazon.com/NieR-Automata-Soundtrack-Various-artists/dp/B06XS88HK9

Glad you agree that the game is a masterpiece. Shame about the trophy but they built in a way to fix that issue.

And thanks for the link. Unfortunately in my haste, I bought it as soon as it appeared on iTunes and now I realise I can only play it from my phone which refuses to push the music to my tv or ps4 which I can do with Spotify and I believe amazon prime. Grrrrrr.

  4. Destiny 2 livestream is up and geez I'm sold. The additions look fantastic. Even the girlfriend is so so interested, she wants a PS4 of her own so she can play with me. Do yourselves a favour and watch the whole thing

  5. Can't say I'm a fan of Fury's design. Seems a bit off.

Agreed. Her face is very weird.

I loved the first game. For me, it was probably the best Zelda type game in that generation. The sequel didn't really grabbed as much and I never finished it, pretty much for the same reasons as @Ganepark32 stated.

I think it's her eyes. They are huge and angled. It's early days so that could change.

  6. I want to return to this as I have finally finished my recent purchases but where would the best place for a light level 340? Also anyone else in the same boat?

  7. This game is keeping me from platinuming Nioh. It's a bit special but I sometimes feel that I wish the camera and combat stayed in third person ala DMC rather than constantly transitioning. Ah well. Achieved Ending A. Emotional. Loving that I researched the previous game, played the drakengard games, and understand what's going on. It matters.

But I have a major gripe. WHY IS THERE NO SOUNDTRACK, digital or otherwise. For some reason, games with the best soundtracks like Transistor and this don't seem to have them for digital pre-order download, yet I get one with ME Andromeda which I truly do not care for. Ah well. Hopefully its on Spotify.

  8. Hope I didn't miss all the chatter about this game. Got the platinum last week at 98% completion and 75+ hours (took my time)! Loved every minute of it. Such a well packaged game. No fluff, just everything you need. And it's such a joy to PLAY that it's a joy to WATCH. The girlfriend happily sat next to me, watching my decisions (sometimes catastrophically bad) and interactions in and around the world from start to finish. She enjoyed it so much, she wants to have a bash. Only other game that has captivated her this much is bloodborne and we all know how good that game is!

Having not played it for awhile, I have realised how much I miss it but literally punch the air for joy when I heard that they were working on DLC. As Jim Sterling said, it is almost like they made a fully fleshed out and packaged game, and let it sell on those merits alone. Amazing that we can make jokes about that concept.

I always liked the Killzone games but damn this eclipses anything GG has done before and I never expected this turnout.

  9. Look like everything from subclasses powers, weapons, gears and microtransactions will stay in Destiny 1 but our guardians will carry over to Destiny 2. Also we are gonna get "Veteran rewards" for our D1 accomplishments.

Age of Triumph update to celebrate Destiny 1 from VoG Raids to our final mission in late March.

    https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/45708/7_The-Road-Ahead

Should we arrange a raid after the update arrived for the old times. (I know some of you are gonna be busy with Switch, Overwatch and Q1-Q2 new games lol.

I would like that but currently got my hands full with Nioh, horizon and the soon to arrive Nier. Ugh and then there will be andromeda...too...much

  10. I loved using the dual swords. I never got to use them in my main play through and only used after I had finished, just to rack the points up needed for the trophy. You can stun lock an enemy stupidly fast with them when using the right setup.

I don't usually bother with DLC and Season Passes but I may pick it up for this game.

Stun lock doesn't even need to happen, one combo got me thru too many battles and that's why I was getting a bit bored of them:

Low stance - [] - /\ - /\ -> R1 + () > repeat till drained of ki then /\ for down stab and then R1 + (). Most trash died after first part of string. Yoki would be dead after full string. Dangerous to use on larger stuff but still effective. Could switch down stab for high stance - L1 + /\ technique (not windstorm though I have read that's it's very effective) for larger foes but must have an escape strategy.

  11. *twiddles thumbs and continues to wait for the Twilight Mission I need to pop up*

Man, I wish there was a way to trick the clock to change and give me my mission. I think it was Friday that I last seen it, so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or Wednesday....

I forgot to mention during my ramblings the other day how I played this game like Bloodborne. Having never played a Souls game and only playing Bloodborne, I wasn't used to blocking. With Nioh I was just dodging and side stepping my way to victory as I just couldn't get it in my head that I could actually block an attack. :D

Exactly how I play. I only block when I have slowed things down and the dodge window becomes really unpredictable. That said it's still either before or after a dodge.

Still not done. Being doing all the side missions as I went along. Love this game. Found dual swords and kusiragama a bit stale so re-specced and changed to katana and spear. So many more tools to use I found and so fun.

Playing a bit of hammer time too and that makes me play like souls/bloodborne even more. Love how it just chews human opponents ki/stamina.

  12. I'm at the iga escape.

Really enjoying all the traps and the level layout!

Anyone know when unlock the third set of dojo tests? Really want to use the points I have on the last set of skills

  13. Just noticed yesterday, pefect ki pulse during Living Weapon (yes it's possible!) extends living weapon time by restoring some of gauge. I don't know but if you are really good, you can potentially have it for whole boss fights? Managed to have it for a large duration of a sub mission mini boss battle where I was up against multiple foes. Kill them all and had time to spare.

  14. Can't wait to be back home and play this again :D

I need to start dabbling with forging/soul matching/reforging weapons/armor. Could be great to create a certain build. I'd love a flame weapon.

Soul matching is really expensive but forging is the reverse and you can even forge higher level versions of the dlc armour. I think unless you have a stat you really really want you to keep they want you to dismantle your old lower level gear and move on.

I created some light armour evasive gear and it much better suits my playstyle that the medium armour dlc gear I was wearing.

  15. This fucking boss. I co-oped him because that Thunder strike attack is ass. Easy to dodge but fucking painful.

I've just done the fifth boss, Umi-bozu. Still enjoying it loads. Starting to dip into more Ninjitsus and going to start messing with magic soon.

If anyone needs help and wants to co-op, let me know. Managed to do the Twilight level on Saturday with some beast co-op random. ( @Deathjam I'm remembering fun Destiny times)

Really now...co op wasn't even something I was considering but for twighlight it might be more fun to do it that way...

As for nue. I was still dying to him after learning his moves because of that lightning attack 1/8th of health to go and boom, lightning strikes when he recovers from ki drain grrr. Typical the run where I have the worst start is where I take him down. Was so in the zone I didn't even realise he was dead!

And I forgot to mention a few other useful bits of advice.

Gestures are very important - Nue (wall yokai) hides routes and treasures. Pay attention to the death piles around him as they give clues by colour of which gesture he responds to. His eyes glow he colour of gesture that he wants.

Mimics are similar in that they use a certain gesture and if you MIMIC their behaviour, they disappear and drop loot.

Kappa yokai are like crystal lizards and wandering masses. They will lead you into trouble so try to clear are before you engage. Also let them drain their stamina running. You are faster than them so you can catch them up and pounce when they are vulnerable.

  16. About those twilight missions: You only get a choice of two per day? And if you haven't finished the corresponding normal missions you can't access them anyways? Am I understand this correctly? If so then that's the biggest design flaw I've encountered so far...

I couldn't access any twilight mission in the past days...

I was able to access one but decided against it as my body was NOT ready

  17. Managed to complete the third (or fourth, if you count the prologue) mission.

Aside from Nue the mission was very easy.

Died twice to Nue. After I beat him I went on to beat this mission's final boss without dying.

So far, the game is quite easy. For the first two missions that obviously comes down to familiarity. But even the third mission was not that challenging...

Hope that this changes. I have one sub-mission left to do before proceeding to the next area. : peace:

Twice is good. I died what must have been 10+ times but what followed was almost flawless.

Personally I don't mind the level of challenge. If you look on YouTube there are a lot of strugglers out there And remember, there are twilight missions. That's where the real challenge is.

  18. I'm having fun reading people's experiences let alone playing it!

Glad I'm not the only one, I've found it substantially easier than the Alpha/Beta/Demo. I'm sure familiarity is part of it but I also know that there are less enemies placed throughout the map. I wouldn't say I was especially great at these kinds of games but I playing for a few hours last night and managed to defeat the boss on the ship and do the sub-mission after.

There was one Yoki that would two-hit me to death and I just ran past him. He was a weird spike in difficulty.

Having said that, I am absolutely loving it.

I've kind of settled on the Kusarigama as my main weapon of choice. It's just way too awesome to use. And I'm unsure about my second weapon, I've been using a Giant Axe but just picked up an awesome Sword so I'll play with that for a bit.

I've not even looked at the Ninjutsu or Magic.

I'm also not really sure where to spend my stats. Anyone got any tips?

    Useful tips from myself:

Ki pulse weapon upgrades once acquired on one, unlock for all weapons.

Most of your damage upgrades will come from weapon changes/upgrades.

Investing about 10ish points in spirit will unlock further stat bonuses from guardian spirits.

Using items like you do weapons will add to prestige points which are permanent stat upgrades - so be versatile and use everything - hard for hoarders like myself to overcome!

Put points in ninjutsu asap. Near bottom of tree is dark souls style backstab attack. Get that at the very least. Also potentially use points to increase ammo and consumable reserves that can be carried

Points in onymo can be used on passives to increase damage to yokai.

    Sound is important.

Co op is easier to do in this game than in dark souls but helper must have completed mission first.

  19. You're welcome... :blank:

    ...Dick :p

But seriously, I'm really happy to hear that so many other members are enjoying this fantastic title which really is worthy of all the praise it's receiving. :)

Some may have criticised it for taking more than inspiration from the Souls series but I would argue that it's from the same stable that brought us the Ninja Gaiden titles, which in turn mean that the Souls series wouldn't exist in the same way if it wasn't for the inspiration they have taken in part from NG so I say that it's just one big circle of love & respect between developers who both make awesome games. : peace:

Also as an aside, Nioh has got me contemplating finally starting Bloodborne at some point which might lead to me playing Dark Souls III one day as well so that's another postitive.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the positive discussion or to divulge into debate about scores but suffice to say at this point even early on in the game, I would rate Nioh alongside the Ninja Gaiden titles in terms of how much I appreciate it right now.

Last night after 1am yet again I got right back into it, not actually progressing a huge amount from where I left off last time, although I did manage to get all the way around the shore to the door which was next to the shrine and previously locked before which gave me easy access to the Ship... even though I did have to work for it to get to that point and yes @Daft I did exactly the same as you with the Yokai on the roof as ain't nobody got time for that! ;)

Though now I am actually considering going back to take it on because I feel underpowered for the boss, in fact so much so that I decided to take on the Yokai in the small hut with a hole in the roof which took me the best part of an hour to best but I learned a lot more about the subtle changes you can make to the battle mechanics, how to make the most of items and more so it was worthwhile despite the struggle.

If anyone has any tips for the boss that they maybe want to share - possibly in spoiler tags as I'm trying to not ruin too much but I'm not sure what's spoiler and what isn't at this point - then please do as I'm happy to accept any help via subtle hints, or just someone telling me "nah brah, you just gotta' git good!" it's all appreciated.

    Still loving every minute.

Don't think spoilers are that necessary but I'll use them where appropriate and I'm typing this from phone so excuse the poor formatting.

First thing, learn his moves. I think it's applicable to all creatures in this game more so than any other I have played. If you know what they can do, moveswise, you know what to dodge, block or tank. And it allows you to game their ki.

Perfect example is heavily armoured samurais with Katanas. They tend to like high stance and if they go into that, they begin with a downward vertical slice which can be exploited with your low stance dodges to devastating effect as the those attacks take large amounts of ki and the dodges should put you behind your opponent giving you more damage on your attack.

Sorry for the long winded explanation but because I knew all this bosses attacks from all the demos, I was able to do him best him first time. Low stance was key for me too to allow for faster and wider dodges. Make sure you get the ki pulse while dodging upgrade. Essential for the game let alone the boss.

    Some extra stuff

destroying his horns stuns him for a short time giving you a decent attack window. They can be damaged whenever he lowers his head enough but I would advise doing it during the belly flop move he does after the chains are off.

I wouldn't focus on being behind him too much but rather attacking him from the sides. The resultant attacks are easier to dodge from that position.

Save your guardian spirit power for the last 6th or so of his health. You should blow right through his remaining health then when activated. Activating it next to him should Stun him momentarily too.

Make sure to get rid of the Yokai realms with consumables or perfect ki pulses - makes sure you have more area to quickly recover stamina.

Do not get greedy with damage and thus deplete your stamina reserves. It will lead to death.

Be patient - useful advice for the entire game.

Hope this helps. If you need anymore advice let me know.

  20. I actually didn't want to get this game right away...

But you guys made me buy it. Dicks :p And the fact that I'm on Dishonored 2's final mission helped me make that dicision.

I went with the Digital Deluxe Edition, because why the fuck not :D Can't wait :bouncy:

It's utterly worth it. Year has only started but already contender for game of the year.

  21. Play nightstalker, use the helmet that gives you shadestep, roll a lot, poison the captains and yellow vandals or use smoke to escape in a pinch. I was about 367 on my first attempt and tbh I think that light level's the biggest problem anyway :p

I don't think we're going to have a sixth player to raid tonight. @Deathjam?

I could also raid Thursday and Sunday morning/early afternoon.

    Nowhere near Raid ready unfortunately.
