  1. It is entirely true that a lot of people buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. I myself am a big fan of many of Nintendo's franchises and with many of the Wii games out at the moment I have no interest. I want to rent some of them to give them a go with the controls. That being said, I'm willing to give support to those companies that will do unique things, exclusives that take full advantage of what Nintendo is trying to offer with this interaction in gaming. I got Red Steel for Christmas otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I'm glad I did get it because the controls show promise for what hopefully will be a totally refined and improved sequel. I think once 3rd party developers see what some of the other companies are bringing to the table, like Sega, EA and the independent developers, then they will start to get ideas and hopefully back the Wii with more support and exclusives. After all, it isn't so easy this generation to port cross platform with the technical barriers between Wii and the PS3/X360. Hopefully that barrier forces new content and new innovation and Wii's development costs will hopefully coerce some of those innovations. Here's to a future Wii without crappy ports.: peace:
  2. Wii: Not As Quiet As Iwata Promised?

I haven't noticed noise with mine.
  3. Over at gonintendo.com there is a report of an Irish site stating that MK Armageddon will be online for the Wii. If that is the case, we will be online within two months.
  4. I recall people saying it takes years to download that stuff on PS3. (not literally years, but yeah, a long time) How about we all wait until the first online Wii game comes out before we start bashing Nintendo's online service? I for one had my internet set up on my Wii in like 30 seconds so I don't know why you all are complaining about getting it online. Also, PC > 360 for online play any day.
  5. Right now I'm more than willing to give Nintendo the time to perfect their online environment.... as long as they make a Pokemon MMORPG...
  6. I'll go against logic with this one

(copy and paste) revoeyes.blogspot.com/2007/01/ps3-cell-processor-less-than-2-times-as.html Just thought I'd post this since I chanced upon it. Apparently PS3's cell processor isn't exactly all that "uber". They also have a full spec list for the Wii. Interesting stuff if you can understand it I guess, I sure can't.
  7. I'll go against logic with this one

I've been bouncing around the web, since people are claiming Wii is just a compressed Gamecube. (copy and paste link for a spec sheet comparison) wiili.org/index.php/Gamecube-wii-hardware[/url] Now, for those saying "oh noes, Wii just compressed Gamecube" check out the speeds of the processor and graphics. Why bother making a new processor and new graphics chip if you want to just re-use Gamecube technology? They didn't, they went ahead and got IBM and ATI to make new chips that use technology to allow them to be small yet efficient.
  8. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

I'm personally content with better graphics, more characters and online play. From what I've seen on the website for SSBB, it is delivering in the graphics department. I will buy this regardless of control scheme. I tend to agree that the conventional Gamecube controls does serve The Smash Bros. series the best.
  9. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Spoilers Topic)

(copy and paste in browser) smashbros.com/en/main.html SSBB is looking very good.
  10. I'll go against logic with this one

As it has been posted in many other forums, we have to remember that Nintendo also make their consoles to make a profit from the get go. Their market is video games and only video games, they don't have profits coming in from other mediums of retail like Sony and Microsoft have.

(copy and paste link, I don't have enough posts yet) businessweek.com/technology/content/nov2006/tc20061116_750580.htm I think that interview is really good. Gives us a lot of insight as to the decisions behind the Wii. It's relevance is towards cost of the system. Take from it what you will.

Better than my accuracy in Counter Strike.
  13. I'll go against logic with this one

Games will start to look better, we all know they will. My question is, if Nintendo did go HD blah blah blah and sold the Wii for the same price as the PS3, would it still have sold as well as it is? I don't think so. Why? Look at last gen. Gamecube looked better than PS2, if not on par, was cheaper but sold worse. Same thing would have happened this gen if Nintendo released a behemoth of a graphics beast and charged an arm and a leg. They'd lose again. I for one have no complaint. I played Doom 3 for my PC about 6 months ago, gorgeous looking game. I was like, "hells ya, this looks gorgeous". Stopped playing after 3 hours. Why? Graphics couldn't sell subpar gameplay. When I was playing Red Steel, I never cared for the graphics of the game because I was having a blast playing it. IT WAS FUN! The gameplay engrossed me. Only at one point did I say, "wow, the developer screwed up that elevator door. Looks like N64." I shrugged it off and got right back into the game. Point? Gameplay > Graphics Nintendo has it with Wii. Another point, would we still buy Nintendo's product if they didn't have Metroid, Mario and Zelda? I for one am glad they keep making them. Sure, they need to make new killer aps, but I'm fine with getting that next Zelda and Metroid. Right now my heart is aching to get a hold of Metroid Prime 3. I will survive the droubt of triple A titles.
  14. Red Steel Thread

Anyone know what accuracy % you need for an A rating? I just beat the Angel's Heaven level on my 2nd run through the game and had a 27% accuracy. It was only good enough for a D rating. On the plus side, it was my first level where I ever got a Warrior rank.
  15. The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess

In my mind it is irrelevant what NPC's think is going on. Why? Because you see them so sparcely and could basically be ignored all together, so why care what they think? All that matters is what you, the player, is doing. In terms of story, Twilight Princess is way more in depth than OoT. It's like comparing Lord of the Rings to Narnia. Lord of the Rings is now the benchmark by which epics are compared and Narnia falls short on every level. To me TP is that LotR.
  16. Red Steel Thread

I think Red Steel deserves some merits for what it tried to do as a launch title exclusive built from the ground up. It wasn't an 'A' game, but it was very involving and albeit frustrating at times, it was a lot of fun getting into some big gun fights. Gives us something to look forward to in the future.
  17. The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess

I've played only 4 Zelda games, yet loved Zelda since the first one I played; A Link to the Past. Since then I've played one on every generation of console. Majora's Mask didn't appeal to me for some reason. So the 4 I played in order of favourite: 1: Twilight Princess 2: Ocarina of Time 3: A Link to the Past 4: Wind Waker Tough call between OoT and TP, but in the end TP won out because of what it brought back, the memories. On top of the memories, it added so much more and a story line that dominates any in the others on my list of played Zelda's. I, personally, am satisfied with the amount to do in Zelda: TP. Took me 36 hours to beat it with 15 hearts. Much to still find though.
