  1. How does Sony work out that they're closing the gap on the leading competitor, by which I assume they mean the DS? I'm not sure about European sales, but every Japanese and US sales charts I see show the DS selling far more than the PSP, so if anything the gap is widening.
  2. Bomberman Land

WTF! You'd seriously buy a game just because of the box art? If you've got that much money to waste, I'll always take some off your hands
  3. the best wii game before april

    Wot No Excite Truck? !!!!!!
  4. Are you happy with your Wii?

But he could have imported it? I see that Video Games Plus are still selling it for £13.
  5. Godzilla: Unleashed, first screens

I quite enjoyed the Gamecube one - good for a quick blast, so am looking forward to this.
  6. Component looks better huh?

I can say 100% that it is definitely worth it as far as Component over composite. I've been running my Gamecube off component for a few years now and there really is a BIG improvement over composite. However, as I've never run it through RGB, I can't say what the difference would be.
  7. Zelda on 40" HDTV with Official Component Cables

To be quite honest, I would expect a 20" TV to display a better picture than a 40" screen (ignoring, at the moment, the difference between standard and high def) The resolution won't have changed, so all you are doing is increasing the size of each pixel on the 40" screen. Therefore things will look blockier than before. All that the component cables will (should?) give you are sharper graphics with better colours. But obviously if each pixel is made sharper, this will be more obvious on a larger screen and will also lead to diagonal lines appearing jagged instead of smooth. It's like moving from a 15" monitor on your PC to a 21" widescreen monitor, but keeping the resolution at 800 x 600 - it looks horrid, but increasing the resolution gives you a superb image. Unfortunately, you can't do this on the Wii.
  8. Please don't get me started on listing all the benefits of staying out of the Euro. . . . .
  9. Game, Overpriced Nunchucks

Glad to be of help - Have a good Christmas
  10. Game, Overpriced Nunchucks

Not sure if they ship to Portugal, but the site is http://www.choicesuk.com Direct link to Wii games here: http://www.choicesuk.com/ProductList.aspx/GAME_Home/Wii_GAME_Home/General_Wii_GAME_Home?pg=1 Until the end of the year, if you enter the code 'reward' at the check out you'll get an extra 5% off the prices. **EDIT** Just checked and they do ship to Europe for just £3 no matter how much you order.
  11. Game, Overpriced Nunchucks

Must admit that I did buy Rayman from Game the other day and was surprised when they told me I couldn't return it unless it was still sealed. I only bought the game because I wanted something else to play on my Wii quickly. Normally I'll buy from the internet - Monkey Ball for Wii cost me £29 and I've got Excite Truck (£31) and WarioWare (£29) on pre-order from a web site. Removing the 10 day exchange policy is, I think, going to cost Game dear.
  12. Game, Overpriced Nunchucks

I paid £12.99 for my nunchucks and £24.99 for my controllers through PCWorld. So very happy
  13. Has the Wii worked?

There's this one boy at my son's school who thinks he's the best and loves to brag about everything. He was always going on about this and that on his PS2 among other things. Anyway, one day he went in raving about this fantastic console he'd heard about, the Wii, and my son said 'Yes I know, we've got one'. This boy got really shirty, calling him a liar etc. etc. When I next took my son to school I saw this boy and mentioned that we did indeed have a Wii. The look on this boy's face was a picture. I swear you could almost see him turning green with envy! So, yes, I'd say it's worked, as it looks like it's even converting Sony fanboys.
  14. Has the Wii worked?

My kids got their 70 year old Nan playing, and liking, Wii Sports Bowling the other day, although I can't really see her rushing out to the shops to buy one!
  15. I was playing Wii Sports Golf last night when the phone rang. I had to go out of my living room into the hall to answer the phone. Whilst I was talking on the phone it was my turn to play. Now bear in mind I'm in my hallway, looking through the crack in the living door at my TV which is about 15 feet away, so there was no real direct line from either the Wii to my remote or the sensor bar to the remote. I thought I'd try and play anyway. Took a swing with the remote and hit the ball perfectly. Very impressed!
  16. Clampit buys Wii receipt on eBay

Of course, for all we know, it could be that the person who bought the receipt is a keen collecter of Wii purchase receipts, and this particular receipt might just be the one they needed to complete their collection. They could be really pleased with their purchase . . . . . Off topic . . . Talking about Americans and what they're like, here's a true story of when I was in Disney's Magic Kingdom, Florida some years ago. I was in a long queue for Big Thunder Mountain. The queue was all around the ride so we could see what was going on. In front of me were a group of about 4 elderly Amercians. After well over an hour's queuing, one of the Americans turned and asked me if I knew what the queue was for? I said that it was for Big Thunder Mountain, and pointed at the ride. The America replied "Oh! I don't think we want to go on that". I asked why, in that case, were they queuing and she said "Well, we just saw a queue and thought we'd join it !!!!!!". Back on topic. . . Maybe the person who won saw that people were bidding on the item and so thought they'd just join in. **P.S.** Just to point out that I actually quite like Americans and have several US friends.
  17. Clampit buys Wii receipt on eBay

I'm sorry, but whilst the seller could have been out to scam someone (well, probably was), the only reason why this sort of thing happens is because there are loads of dumb ass people out there. I've seen a lot of ebay scams where the seller would have included loads of technical details all about the Wii and about how it's the must have console of the moment but also how hard it is to buy one, blah blah blah, and then in very tiny writing at the bottom put what the person is actually bidding for. BUT in this case, there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to buy it, thinking they are buying a Wii. It is very clear that the auction is for a receipt. Also, did the buyer really think that the seller would be able to post the item for $1 (look at the shipping and handling charge). Whilst there is possibly an ethical issue here, I still stand by my original statement that the buyer deserves to be taught an expensive lesson.
  18. Clampit buys Wii receipt on eBay

Not just someone, but quite a few people actually when you look at the bidding history. All of them have little experience of Ebay (the highest rating is 22 but most of the rest are below 10). Also most if not all are American . . . As LukeLee said, there is nothing on this auction to indicate they were buying a Wii, although the seller must have guessed there'll be some mugs who just saw the word Wii and would bid for it. I personally think the winning bidder should get all they deserve - an expensive lesson learnt. They will probably try to get a refund, but it's hard to see how ebay could side with the buyer as the seller has done little wrong.
  19. Wii email

I think it's good that you have to register emails addresses. As far as I can work it out, unless an email sent to your Wii is a registered address, you won't receive it. Therefore, you won't ever receive any spam. Of course, I might be talking a load of b*******s ! **EDIT** Had no problems registering my yahoo account. Received the confirmation email to my Wii within 5 minutes of sending it from yahoo.
  20. The Highs And The Woes Of Preordering

Well I was fairly happy with PCWorld. Received my Wii and 3 extra nunchucks. Just waiting for Wii Play and 2 extra controllers. ChoicesUK, however, failed to delivered Monkey Ball and I'm still waiting. Mind you, I don't mind waiting as I only paid £29 for it
  21. European Wii Preorders

It worked!!!! As soon as I made my suggestion (above), had a ring at the door. No more posts from me for a while, I'm off to play good luck to those of you still waiting. Hope it's not for much longer.
  22. European Wii Preorders

Am worrying that the main road into my street is currently closed because of road works. You can only get to me by going through the back roads. If the delivery driver is relying on his route planner, which is bound to take him to the closed road, he won't know how else to get to me. Had a thought for those others of you waiting for the post. A sure way to get it to turn up is to load up some p**n on your PC, and .............. The postman's bound to turn up then!!!
  23. European Wii Preorders

Try reading your email properly. You will see that, whilst they say 5 - 7 days, this is obviously a standard email they send out. HOWEVER, when they give you the tracking number and the link to DHL's web site, you are instructed to look under NEXT DAY DELIVERY. Have checked mine this morning and it's out for delivery
  24. European Wii Preorders

Well even if they post it today, there's no way you'll get it tomorrow unless you live in Jersey. However, seeing the shortages there are, I think you're best off keeping your order until either you get one elsewhere, or they dispatch it.
  25. European Wii Preorders

I've just checked my PCWorld order. My 2 remotes have become 2 Wii Plays and my Wii Play has become a Wii Remote. However, the prices have stayed the same as prior to this change. As long as I don't get charged any extra, I don't mind as I'll still end up with what I wanted (albeit with an extra copy of Wii Play). ***Edit*** Just checked the email confirmations I received this morning for these orders and they are correct as 1 Wii Play and 2 Remotes. I suspect that it's just the web site that's a bit screwed up.
