  1. MY 360 IS A FUCKING ****

Believe it or not, once in a blue moon...When you are wearing two different colored socks...One made locally while the other from China...And you have one of your feet in a bucket of water...While playing a violin with a herring as a bow... Windows System Restore works. I would give it a try to reset the reg values back to before without doing the manual work.
  2. My internet is really slow...

First, I would run a direct connection to the router for a bit to see if the problem is 100% modem associated. This is more or less so you can tell your ISP : "Look, I did - yada bla bla bla" , the problem is the service as of current. You could also run a firmware update check for the heck of it. (Believe it or not, it fixed a router that became "screwy" for me once) http://www.dslreports.com/tools The tools have servers in the US only unfortunately, but smoking might be nice to monitor for packet loss. You should probably ring your ISP and have them run a check of the line from their end and do a monitor for the day. If they don't have that technology, I would stare blankly at the phone, scream the name of some random object on your desk, and proceed to get a new ISP.
  3. Slow speeds

Azures? I jumped that ship months ago in favor of the non-java based Utorrent. I think utorrent is a faster and more stable program, so I suggest using it over azures. Version 1.6 the exe file is only 650KB~! In addition, it still has tons of features. http://www.utorrent.com/ In addition, I would do what the rest are mentioning as far as port forwarding, but I was also shut off your UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) service on your router as it can cause slowdown problems with your torrents among other internet traffic, and just port forward.
  4. What the...? Vista and hd audio/video

Oh, vista is great! You can download offical ISO here! http://en.opensuse.org/Download http://fedora.redhat.com/ Damn, I missed. Let me give it another go. http://www.kubuntu.org/ Sorry, it seems my infernal sense of responsibility is causing interference.
  5. Recovering deleted files

It does a basic scan at start by default, if you can find it, I recommend targeting the drive partition with it and clicking "superscan". That should find virtually anything. For "private" folder, you could always give microsoft's private folder app a go. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Lockdown/Microsoft-Private-Folder.shtml If you want somthing non Microsoft, I reccomend: http://www.cypherix.co.uk/cryptainerle/index.htm?adv=crypto_be Based on blowfish.
  6. Recovering deleted files

    err...or not?
  7. Yay - I lost the vodka belly.

Stone....Stone!?> Its non-metric...It burns...It Burns! I still do not understand why the US still uses pounds, feet, and miles, knots, ounces, and the rest. Powers of 10 are wonderful, and the prefixes....oh wonderful prefixes..!
  8. Wii wireless connection problems

Glad to hear it is working. I am still a big proponent of firmware upgrades for routers. I suggest it in the future. G'day
  9. Wii wireless connection problems

In my reading the newest firmware for it does, it just means you are using an early version of the router's firmware and should update. The old firmware is very likely your connection problem for the Wii. The support can be found below, along with upgrade instructions and precautions. http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/DG834Gv2.asp Generic Precautions: Make sure the unit it not powered down or unplugged during the upgrade process. During the upgrade, make sure heavy downloading or internet usage is suspended untill it is done. Double verify the router model number and version number are correct.
  10. Wii wireless connection problems

Wii currently is having some problems with various setups. The problems I have encountered is that wireless mode must be set to "Mixed" instead of "g-only", and is your are using encryption, WPA, you should us the AES instead of TKIP algorithm for the encryption. Also verify the wireless setting known as "Preamble" is set to "long". Also, make sure to upgrade your router's firmware to the latest version, as it is always a good idea. If you cannot see any wireless networks from anyone or anywhere when you run the wireless wizard on the console, I would check with Nintendo's support to see if they could ship another console out to you. Nintendo support in the US is nothing short of amazing, hopefully they give the same service over there.
  11. Laptop attacking PC, IP Problems

Eh>? Not sure why it crapped out again. Give it another go. Addition info is to make sure you run a viral and spy ware scans as infections can screw up the winsock file. Run at least spybot and adaware after you update them, in full scan mode and your antiviral. I recommend Kaspersky or Nod32 if you are looking for one. If it finds anything , flush the winsock after it cleans it out. In adttion I reccomend not using internet explorer in favor of Firefox or Opera.
  12. Recovering deleted files

I have something that work well as you can aim it at specific folders on a HDD. AIM: nintndrule Also, right click on your recycle bin on your desktop, hit properties and tell it to send files to the recycle bin before deletion.
  13. Or take the easy way out and download and run: http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php Tells you much more info than windows ever will, and everything is in one place. Highly useful/. So easy, even a caveman can do it.
  14. router

I have had good luck with the linksys wrt54GS line. Not the "G" line, the "GS" line. The GS line claims "speedbooster", but don;t worry about it, it is mostly junk. As a plain jane wireless G router it works quite well. The line comes equpit with 32MB of onbord memory, compared to the 8 MB "G" line, but linksys double antenna system gives a stronger connection than those whom only offer these tiny one stub antenna routers. The best part is you can load Linux firmware onto the router, like my favorite DD-WRT. So, I have had good luck with Linksys-WRT54GS. Its pretty cheap, and does a good job. I have also had luck with higher tier netgear router. If you are using wireless encryption to keep people off your network, the Nintendo Wii will require the router to be set to "mixed" wireless mode, and to use WPA encryption using the AES algorithm. This is a problem I had that may only be relevant later.
  15. Laptop attacking PC, IP Problems

If the condition is that the desktop internet always works regardless of when you are attempting to connect to the web with the laptop, I recommend the following. Open "Run", and type in "cmd" and hit "enter". If you are running windows XP SP2 at least, of which I am going to assume, the following command will work. in the black command window, type: "netsh winsock reset" then hit "enter". If it asks you any question about proceeding, tell it "y" for yes. It will eventually ask you to restart your system, of which "y" will do it for you. You can also jump into internet explorer's settings by navigating in an IE window to tools->internet Options->connection tab->Lan settings button-> then make sure that "auto detect settings" is checked, then click "apply" then "ok". These two should take care of it from the symptoms as I am interpreting them.
  16. Grub, Freezing and the Blue Screen of Death!

I would use win xp system restore to go back before the problem, use your bootable 9.1 suse disk...or download 10.1 suse and upgrade, and use them to repair grub, and check your HDD with both scandisk for the windows NTFS paritition, then run the diagnostic tool from your HDD manufature and scan for any and all failures and bad sectors.
  17. Missing Ram

Oh not too bad. Just installed Suse 10.1 and windows xp died...frail little creature it is. just got the newest NTFS driver that supports NTFS writting and am trying to get the wireless driver wrapper working. On the windows side, formated, SP2ed it, installed Nforce 5.11, they sucked as they have a serious network problem that is still unresolved...Had to use driver cleaner to remove the files....My internet went down in a blaze of packet loss...Had to get internet working to download 5.10 Nforce drivers which are not crap on Nforce3 platforms... Found kaspersky antiviral and love it. On E-mpire/Nnow side...trying to find time to post there and occosionally here. On working side, one of head techs of Circuit city Pc center part time. Get people from best buy all the time asking about what geek squad messed up and blamed on the infamious and generally stated " 3rd party software" excuse... Argue with PC manager why norton AV / Macafee is a heaping pile of crap and should not be sold. University side....working still on a rubium experiment for summer employment. Had to solder together a Voltage regulator for one of my sensors . The regulator is a 2mm by 2mm peice with 4 contacts per side. Not fun. So I screamed and moved on to observing laser constuct/destructive interferance with position in one of the other devices to attempt to get a stable wavelengh to excite the rubium atoms. Those lazy bastards are quite hard to exite...not enough motivation I suppose. Oh...umm.. you?
  18. Going 64

I reccomend Antec, Seasonic, or Enermax for pwr Supply. Thats a nice price on the 3800 AM2 CPU. Not sure why you want to use the 64 bit function with windows unless you want to use more than 4 gigs of RAM. Performce in games especially is a bit...well...less than in most cases. My orginal 2.2 ghz 754 AMD64 system run a 32bit XP and a 64 bit linux.
  19. Missing Ram

Well... It depends on the chipset in they system. If you speaking about a system that uses SDRAM, your system may not support densities over 256MB per slot. Maybe ..by some alignment of the planets and the re-arrangement of socks, it is working but only using 128 plus 256, minus 16 for intergrated which yields 368 MB of RAM Available to the system. You also give the chips a swap around, as jordan mentioned..and see if you can get the 512 detected. Read up on the chipset, and especially the BIOS if it had updates. Post any information that would be relivent.
  20. Drivers

A Level? You guys are going to have to explain this to me, as I always have been curious. In the US the school system consisits of k-12 Grades. Elementry School : kindergarden, 1, 2 , 3, 4 Middle School: 5, 6 ,7, 8 High School : 9 , 10 , 11, 12 There is a profecientcy exam for each school level that is given by the goverment, and a few intermitten ones...But as far as tests go it is mostly up to the teachers to give thier own final/tests per class. For the highschool to colledge/university transition, you take a general college exam in high school...either the general SAT or ACT and recive a score. Thier are a few specialized exams you can also take, but are less common. Some universities have thier own exams which they administrate for placement and other factors, but that is pretty much it.
  21. Wireless Woes

No one did. I was speaking in general, not directed at you.
  22. Wireless Woes

Why do text research when the video documentation can be seen here? http://www.weebls-stuff.com/wab/upgrade-pt2/
  23. Drivers

Umm...Win XP I assume? Right click on my computer, click hardware tab, and click the device manager button. Look for what is in yellow. The best way to find out what driver you need is to find your serial/model number for your laptop, and jump onto the manufature homepage. If that does not work, I recccomend looking at the in-deph specs manufature provide and going on a download spree. For example, some ahtlon 64 laptops use an NFORCE3 chipset, and maufuture don't usually link to it in thier download section....especially HP and Compaq. Post your model number if you need help hunting for them.
  24. CPU Cooling Solutions?

Personally, I have had more trouble with pads, even with the exposed Athlon XP core. All pads that came standard dried out compared to the artic silver thermal paste, are are less efficent at heat transfer than paste. Now, the white silicon thermal paste they give out....well that is another story. Good to hear the new heatsink works though.
  25. Driver Guide

This is a must for cleaning them out on my list. ww.drivercleaner.net/ Especially Nvidia ---> ATI switches, and vice versa. Also includes chipset and audio driver cleaning.
