Red Steel -1ST Rev game screenshots in gameinformer
Stabby replied to guarana's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Still looks just a little better than Xbox but I don't really care. It even has more advantages than disadvantages: smaller, low-power, cheaper, easy and fast to make games... Graphics are a lot more important on the artistic side really. Gamecube and PS2 have proven that to me. Graphics don't need to come close to reality. If that's what you want, then I'm affraid you have forgotten the true essence of gaming just as many others have. -

Sorry, that might have been because of the low quality scans. The higher resolution ones look a lot better. However I'm still under the impression that some models look worse than Far Cry or Splinter Cell though. Just my opinion. But I will love the Revolution, no matter how good the graphics are. It doesn't make me less hyped about it at all, I am more looking forward to Red Steel, Mario 128, Metroid Prime 3 and Zelda than any Xbox 360 and PS3 game. I've thought this all through and I remember playing House of the Dead 3 and Time Crisis a few months ago. Although they had pretty bad graphics and no HD, I never cared about it and I kept playing it for hours. I was having the time of my life. That and more will be the experience I'll be getting with the Rev. I guess I'm just worrying about Nintendo not being able to compete with the Xbox 360 and PS3. Even though the controller is cool, Nintendo will have trouble changing their image and a huge amount of gamers will always be graphic whores, no matter what. -

Your saying that this game looks better at a smaller size with sharper picture. But there's no way that it will look like that on your TV, especially on a HDTV. -

Wait, polygon counts are always lower in scans? Ninja Gaiden, Conker, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory... all have higher polygon counts than this shit. -

There are new scans in the Mozlapunk forums with new screenshots, but they look worse than some Xbox games -
I'm gonna need a source

Unreal Engine 3.0 is impossible on the Rev, as you can see from those Red Steel shots. But I'm happy enough with an updated UE2.5 engine.

Guarana, how can you tell those shots are in-game, they look like concept art to me. Does the article say so? -

Didn't he say the graphics are "representative of in-game graphics"? Sounds rather fishy... -

Prince is said to be not so reliable. People at neogaf don't seem to trust him. So they could still be renders which I think they are. Especially that scan with the car blowing up doesn't look in-game. -

Those look like concept art instead of in-game screen shots. Especially the one with the car exploding. -

Are you sure all of that is in-game instead of concept art? -

It looks like that leaked list was true, looking at the Rayman 4 and BiA3 announcements. Revolution games on those list were: - Rayman 4 (november 2006) -> launch - Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 5 (november 2006) -> launch - Brothers in Arms 3 (February 2007) - Assassin (March 2007) + Killing day was announced last year and we'll probably get Splinter Cell too. Both at launch btw. -

Radical Entertainment Hiring for Revolution Development
Stabby replied to khan's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Has anyone noticed that they only need 1 man to port over a game to the Rev? Well I havent, but it's being discussed at GAF This would mean 2 things: a) Revolution won't have special techniques to make graphics look better, otherwise you'd need more than one man to master it b) Revolution graphics will be almost on par with Xbox 360 and PS3. Downgrading a game takes quite a lot of work, or you'd have to slaughter the game and make a shitty port. http://www.radical.ca/open_positions.cfm Another interesting quote: I don't recall the controller being multiple features of the Rev, so the third secret won't be anything stupid like analog shoulder buttons. -
Go Nintendo is wrong. The game is not confirmed, otherwise it wouldn't have been in the rumour section.

So framedrops will still be there despite the extra power? Then why is the framerate in GTA:LCS better when you upgrade your PSP to 333Mhz? Will homebrewers have acces to gamecube games? It would be great to have progressive scan and more anti-aliasing, maybe even some better texture filtering.
-
There's no single PAL gamecube game that supports progressive scan. I wonder if you can add progressive scan by adding some code to the game through the SD card.
-
Just wondering, will there be any graphical improvements to gamecube games on the Rev? The Revolution will have a faster RAM, so I thought the framerate might be improved. Didn't GTA:LCS have a better framerate when upgraded to 333Mhz? Also, would it be possible to add progressive scan one way or another?
-
You need a lot of RAM for displacement mapping and parallax mapping, so count those out.

2x Gamecube is ridiculous. You can say 2X the polygon count and 2X the texture resolution is enough, I agree. But 2X AI, 2X physics, 2X lighting is not.
