  1. Yeah they had Pro controllers and the hard cases and some other cases too. They had the joy con charge grip and the Switch kick stand for table top mode too. All in stock in all stores across my area. Oh and the joy cons, singular and in pairs in all colours. But not single neons. Just the pair of them.

They didn't have the joy con charge stand I've seen online at game etc, but they had everything good to go.

Thanks I'll go and check them out.

  2. I never considered them as I thought we'd have this stock shortage or at the least they'd only have the console and no accessories. Normally Argos do a lot of 'online exclusives' :indeed:

Turns out they have like everything! Even the Pro Controllers and Zelda so I could have literally just done the 2 min drive at 9, got myself everything I'd preordered AND a neon switch and been done! Still tempted to just do that if my DPD delivery is like 4pm :D. But then I have no idea how ShopTo are with processing returns. First world problems right here lol.

Do you know if they had accessories in store?

  3. Nah, I agree with clownferret. Friend codes are an inconvenience to be sure and it is telling that Nintendo arent really listening to its fans in this regard - but is it news worthy of going all DEFCON1 over? I'd say not, but it is an annoyance.

It most defiantly is when the President and COO of Nintendo of America said friend codes would not be a thing on the Switch.

Why did he say that. There is no defense possible once the president of the company says one thing and then the company do something different.

With the the Wii U Reggie claimed third party games at launch would look and perform best on the wii u.

Does this guy never get tired of lying?

  4. Taken from gaf

So I gave someone else my Friend Code and had them send a request over. Once you receive the request, you get a notification with their Username and Icon. You then have the option to Become Friends, Decline Request, or Block. If you Become Friends, the connection is done. It doesn't look like you both have to trade codes.

Eureka, they got this bit right.

  5. It's telling that Nintendo didn't announce this friend code BS.

So worst case scenario instead of typing in a 6 digit user name you have to type in a 12 digit friend code. Not exactly worth getting our knickers in a twist about is it?

Bump into a random at work who tells me has switch. Yo add me, gamertag kickazz1 or add me 245887.......er I forgot.

    I know what I prefer.

Also we don't even know yet if only one friend code is needed. It could well be both users have to exchange codes.

  6. No excuses. It's absolutely ludicrous.

Hell we already have unique usernames, why not just use those!?

Thankfully I already have pretty much everyone I'd want to add ready to go via Miitomo, but still! Absolute insanity!

The fact that they even call them Friend Codes is the most utterly tone deaf thing. They know exactly how much people hate them, and yet they even use the same name. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot!

This is the most laughable aspect. They know people disliked them with the 3DS yet somehow that has been completely ignored.

If both users have to send friend requests via friend codes like before then boy there is going to be a Internet shit storm.

I wouldn't be surprised though if it ends up being this way though as it's Nintendo and they don't care.

  7. Anyone who expected the Switch to be Nintendo's online "coming of age" should have realised the fact they weren't talking about it meant they hadn't made much progress in that area.

And now they want us to pay for it!

On the Xbox One I get four free games a month (to keep), online multiplayer, simple friend adding systems, exclusive sales, voice/party chat - get this - on the console, free trial weekends and more.

I fear for the paid service now. This just an example of an outdated idea and who knows what other madness they will produce. Friend codes, a VC game for a month, a phone requirement to chat with friends etc etc. They just don't get and never will.

  8. Oh Reggie.

    http://www.siliconera.com/2017/01/16...acing-content/

“People have taken shots at us for that. The reality is, the way that online experiences have progressed, it’s an expensive proposition. The amount of servers we need to support Smash Brothers or Mario Kart — these big multiplayer games — is not a small investment. There are no friend codes within what we’re doing.

Media need to call him out on this. He lied.

  9. Thing is, this is DeNA's doing most likely. They're handling Nintendo's online services now.

DeNA is a mobile company and in Japan, mobile games all use unique identifiers akin to Friend Codes in order for you to add friends without Social Media.

I believe you may be able to use Social Media to add people here too.

Countless mobile games use it, especially in Japan.

    Poor excuse.

  10. Checked my bank account and the money has finally been taken, the Nintendo site hasn't updated yet but i'm relieved that there is finally movement.

Confused as to why they bought back friend codes, did they think not having them was why the Wii U failed?

Looking forward to hearing someone at Nintendo explain why they are doing this?

  11. Friend codes..? Are you mental Nintendo?! Deary me!

Welcome to paid online. A new service where adding friends even becomes a chore.

I just dont get it with this company at times. They create such greatness and then can make a ridiculous decision like friend codes.

Nobody asked for this. We wanted more ways to add friends which they have given us but the most important one uses friend codes.

    Bizarre isn't the word.

  12. It's not the only way, thankfully. I blame DeNA. Had a feeling this would happen when Fire Emblem Heroes friend list was behind Friend Codes

Wouldn't be surprised if standard comes after the paid online

Difference is that you can have a Nintendo Account without the User ID

Not the only way but it's still a pain. I don't memorize a 12 digit number but can easily give people my gamertag.

Do we know yet if one adds a friend via friend code they get a notification and can accept without having to reciprocate?

  13. http://press-start.com.au/news/nintendo/2017/03/02/nintendo-switch-uses-friend-codes-add-friends/

Yep, we finally have our day one online functionality of the Nintendo Switch and can confirm that the main way to add friends will be using Friend Codes.

You can also search for local users, add friends you’ve played with and also add friends from Super Mario Run and Miitomo.

Although, it looks like you’ll need to give someone a 12 digit friend code to add them if they’re not on a service that you’re connected to.

Good grief. Still we have this stupidness.

Good that you can add friends recently played with but as usual 1 step forward, 2 backwards.

  14. Reviews have started to come out now. The general opinion is that it's more than a solid entry for the series but the price is the biggest sticking point. Had this been an eShop launch game then I feel the reception would be a lot better.

I think Ultra Street Fighter 2 is going to suffer the same fate.

Yep just far too expensive. £20 and I would be interested.

    Full price, not remotely interested.

  15. I can't agree that a console you can fit in your pocket is underpowered. The amount of power in such a tiny shell is brilliant. It's pointless comparing it to PS4 and XBO, it's a completely different system.

I know but like it or not it's still underpowered in the sense its likely not going to be handle graphic intense games seen on those systems.

Some people are getting this to use a home console (handheld for me) and it's significantly weaker than the competition.

Can anyone tell me what the Bluetooth 4.1 is for if Bluetooth headphones don't work? What is the Bluetooth connectivity for?

This day 1 patch better fix this joycon issue. Too many reviews have had the problem and the in particular the left one.

You want people to return a product that joy con issue is the perfect reason for it.

  16. A poor review in the sense of bad journalism, or a poor review as in the Switch is bad?

As a handheld, the Switch is a powerful piece of hardware with a gorgeous screen, but it's too large and power hungry to feel like you can really take it anywhere. As a console, it’s underpowered, unreliable, and lacking basic features and conveniences that all of its competitors offer. It’s nicely built and cleverly designed to be used in a variety of ways, but the bottom line is that the Switch doesn’t do any one of the many things it can do without some sort of significant compromise. Our testing will continue for the next few days as we try out the online features and other functions enabled by the day-one patch, but if I had to score it now I’d give it a 6.7.

I can agree with the as a console its underpowered.
