  1. amiibo (NFC)

After not being able to hunt down any of the new amiibos bar Sonic and Megaman on Friday, I bought Shulk from Japan on eBay on Friday, for £22. Five days later, and he's now sitting proudly on my amiibo shelf. As expected, he's now definitely my favourite!
  2. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

I got it primarily as a single player game, as I don't really have anyone local to play against. Then last night, I met up with some friends of a friend who are keen Smash players and got absolutely slaughtered, only winning maybe three matches in the five or so hours we played! So although single player is definitely fun (not that I've even managed to even reach the Master Fortress in classic mode!), I would say that being able to play multiplayer will certainly train you to become a better player.
  3. amiibo (NFC)

Left the house this morning at 8.20. Went to the local Sainsbury's, then Smyths toys (Fareham), Toys R Us (Portsmouth), Tesco Home, Toys R Us and GAME (all three Soythampton), and I've just got back home, empty handed and annoyed. Out of all of them, three had Mega Man and two had Sonic (neither of which I'm interested in). As for the rest, just a load of Marios, Peaches, Links, Diddy Kongs etc. The days when I could actually go into a shop and buy a Pit, Captain Falcon, and even a Marth, seem such a long time ago...
  4. amiibo (NFC)

Same here. Gutted, as Shulk was the one amiibo I wanted more than any other! It's going to mean a mad dash around the shops tomorrow morning, now, although I'm not holding my breath, as it's bound to be in very short supply, with some places probably not getting it.
  5. amiibo (NFC)

I did a sweep of Southampton looking for the new amiibos yesterday, but couldn't find a single one, or even any evidence that any shops had ever had any. Then on my way home, I got an email from Amazon saying that my Toon Link had been delayed by 1-2 business days, so that won't be coming until next week now. On the plus side, though, I was browsing Argos online this morning and found that a branch about twenty-five minutes away from my had a Wii Fit Trainer in, for normal price. Now mine!
  6. amiibo (NFC)

I got a Pit today, and saw a Marth behind the counter at GAME. Still not seen a Falcon, Villager or Little Mac in the wild.
  7. Had a blast playing with you guys last night - it was just a coincidence that I popped online and found you there too! I'm definitely not up to your standards, though - I think that was pretty much a fluke that I won with Wii Fit Trainer before I signed off!
  8. 3DS Console Discussion

Well after being told over the phone the other day they have a backlog and I should get it 'before Christmas', they did actually diagnose the problem today, and charged me £77 for the pleasure of getting it fixed. They still haven't sent it back yet though, but hopefully it'll be next week that I get it back.
  9. 3DS Console Discussion

Latest update in my 3DS repair tale of woe: I phoned them up today to find out why nothing's happened after a week. They said they have a bit of a backlog, are awaiting spare parts, but I needn't worry, as I will at least get it back BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Great. Not only will I have to wait until who knows when to play Smash again, I'm also going to be missing out on 100+ StreetPasses at this weekend's London Expo too.
  10. 3DS Console Discussion

Top screen problem - faded/bleeding colours. It jut came on last Thursday night. I'm a little surprised too, as they've been pretty fast with my Wii and 3DS in the past.
  11. 3DS Console Discussion

It's been a week since I sent my 3DS in to Nintendo to get it repaired, and I'm still none the wiser about how long it'll be. I got an email on Tuesday to say they'd received it, but the problem is still undiagnosed, according to my account. So annoying, as I was hoping to at least have Smash Bros back by the weekend...
  12. 3DS Console Discussion

Well, my time with Smash Bros ground to a halt last night when my 3DS developed a fault with the top screen, making the image flicker and the colours go all washed out. So annoying, as I'll now have to send it in for repairs and who knows how long that'll take? This is the third time now I've had a screen problem with the 3DS, as a similar thing happened twice to my original one - at least that was still while it was in warranty though, unlike this one.
  13. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

Just short of 12 hours so far, which, incidentally, puts it just above Super Pokémon Rumble and below The Denpa Men in my 3DS log, in 27th place.
  14. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

Just unlocked all the characters and stages - really great roster overall. I've also been enjoying going through my trophy vault (102 so far), which is a great place to see some 'pop out the screen' 3D, if you zoom in and rotate the trophies in a certain way.
  15. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

NEO Magazine, although the fact that we got the review code just a few days after our last issue's deadline means that it won't be published for another five weeks or so, in the next issue! Will probably show up online at some point too.
  16. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

For Fun (although I'd probably find it a bit more fun if won a little more often!) I dunno, maybe it's just the people I'm up against, although I am still trying to get used to the circle pad controls... Still, if anyone wants an online punching bag when they get a copy, let me know!
  17. Super Smash Bros. 3DS / Wii U

I got this on Thursday and am having a blast with it so far. Nearly got all the characters unlocked now. I've quickly discovered how much I must suck at it though - played about 20 online matches so far and only won two!
  18. Fantasy Life (26th Sept)

I should be getting a copy of this on Monday - looks like it could be pretty fun!
  19. Hyrule Warriors

I'm really looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on with this. I've sunk a load of time into it over the past month, and although it certainly has its downsides (the biggest being its repetitiveness, in my opinion), I still definitely enjoyed it. hope it's the same for you guys.
  20. Mario Kart 8

Wow, what amazing news! I always wanted Mario Kart DLC, but this is much more than I could have hoped for. So excited to get my hands on these... I just hope there's a bit of time between the first DLC and Smash Bros, or I won't be able to choose between them when I switch my Wii U!
  21. Hyrule Warriors

So I've put over twenty hours into this so far (a lot of which was in the adventure mode, by the way), and still enjoying it, even if it still is very repetitive, especially when it comes to fighting bosses, which take a long time to kill. I've unlocked all but two of the characters now, but I could see the rest of the Adventure mode taking at least another 20 hours, if not more (if, indeed, I complete it at all - there are some really tough challenges!). Still can't decide who my favourite characters are to play as - honestly, they all have their good points. I'm even developing an unexpected love for Fi, too, who's a lot of fun to use! I guess Darunia is my least favourite though, as his hammer is a little unwieldy. One slight disappointment, though, is how the game seems to have fallen foul of Nintendo's recent 'reveal pretty much everything before release' policy. Before playing, I'd only really seen stuff from E3 and the Direct, but there's been very, very little that I hadn't already seen / heard about, especially when it comes to nostalgic nods to other Zelda games. Anyway, I'm sure you guys are going to have a lot of fun with this when it comes out in a few weeks.
  22. Hyrule Warriors

Been playing this for two or three hours this evening, and so far enjoying it. I haven't played any Dynasty Warriors games before, and this isn't exactly inspiring me to want to search out any more titles in the series, but as a piece of Zelda fan service, it really hits the spot. So far I've played with Link, Impa, Sheik and Lana, all of which are fun in their own way. I've also had a play about with fusing weapons and making badges, though I don't know the game well enough to say how much of a difference it makes to how strong you are because, like you've seen from videos, grunts don't offer that much resistance. I can certainly see it becoming repetitive at some point, but so far I'm having a blast playing through co-op with my wife. Adventure mode is pretty cool too - looks like there's a heck of a lot to do on that if you're willing to put the time in. Oh yeah, and the music is absolutely amazing - just the kind of remixes of classic tunes I hope to see more of in Smash Bros..
  23. Super Mario Maker

When I thought this was just going to be the tired NES style, I wasn't too impressed. Knowing that the levels will render in the NSMB style put this right up there on my 'to buy' list, though. Of course, bring able to crest Mario Witld style levels too would be the icing on the cake...
  24. Nintendo Digital Event E3 2014: BYOP

Well I was super impressed with that. Don't care about third party stuff - for me, that was easily the best E3 conference in years. Love all the Smash stuff, Zelda looks gorgeous, and I love the concept of Splatoon. Very, very happy.
