Do you accept Nintendos laziness?
Falcon_BlizZACK replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in Nintendo Gaming
...I'm pretty sure Mario Party 8 is the wii's top seller...and the games you mentioned above are/were Gamecube games. Andthe first online game might just be fun... if the connection stops cutting off every 2 games. -

'Speedfreak' (ie nintendrone #4444567) I won't even reply to your message, if you really want to sound like a mature adult, cut the unnecessary swearing - it doesn't help. Okay, AGREED! (learn from this sensible comment freak). So you get my point...I just don't Nintendo to make such a big sacrifice in favour of the casual/party games over traditional, hearty, stay-up-till-the-early-hours-of-the-morning sort of games. -

I'm not criticizing Nintendo for looking for that profit, I'm just stating that they are the most desperate for it; which means you'll find more cash-ins on the Wii than on the 360 or Ps3. Yes, and why have the 3rd parties ignored them? Nintendo arrogance is the cause; Nintendo chose to use carts for the N64 rather than listen to the pleas of the 3rd parties to use cd-rom format. THEN they make a console with inferior disc limitations and with a 1st party focused control scheme. Nintendo were the architects of their own downfall. Nintendo only made a different system because they knew they couldn't go head to head with the 360 and PS3 - trying to gain the support of the non-lite gamer do be attracted by thr gimmick, the gimmick of playing 'real' tennis with the Wii remote. The Wii is probably closely more defined as a toy. Wiis fly off the shelf due to the above. NOT because that the Wii feature very spectacular and must have games. -

Okay, I'm going to make replies - please just bare in mind I have to use thr Wiimote to do this...*sigh* -
But 'deeper' and more appealing to the console userbase. Think in terms of Zeldas made for the handheld and Zeldas made for consoles.

Do you accept Nintendos laziness?

...What? Nintendo is the only game company out of the other two who HAVE to make a profit (to run their Subarus). So because of this fact, they are more inclined to play safe and stick the formula they know that has sold. Therefore limiting original creations, such as Pikmin but adding more Mario Tennis/football/golf, Cooking Mamas etc. The Wii is affordable no doubt, but still overpriced for what it actually is. I'm sure manufacturing Wiis has a lower production cost from it's launch...But wheres the price cut? Nintendo are making a lot of rupees off gamers who ignorant to these facts. The Wii does not have the technicalities to be considered 'next gen' - it is cheap hardware with modified software, making it cheaper to produce...Wonder why your analog sticks have turned yellow? Or your wifi connection keeps cutting off? Or your 2007 brand new Wii games look like the 2004 GC version? Basically, Nintendo don't really care about being the top innovator anymore, they just want golden coins at the minute...Little do they know some gamers are getting bored of the same ole approach, however, the Nintendrones are high in popullation for them to give a damn...Sadly. -
All these people that say 'it can't work'... How do you know!? And why the hell not? Collosseum and XD were just mediocre games - full stop; simple/rubbish story, boring locations, boring music, and ofcourse it wasn't online...But I still bought them - and I am not a hardcore fan - but I LOVE pokemon fights. (I also liked that trainer scenerio thingy in XD). If they can make what I/we want - an adventure game, then there would be no need for a seperate 'stadium' mode... Pbr is for that. All they really need is a deep storyline for the console audience.

Honestly, I can't think of anymore ORIGINAL Nintendo games other than those two series. Seriously. But surely if you have 100s I'd like to know a few so I can disgress. -

...I guess I just want to see a lot more from Nintendo. The 1st 8 months of the GC's lifespan had more action, with games like; Pikmin, ssb;melee and some alright launch games. I just won't be buying games like Wii Play/Cooking Mama, so I wish these types of games don't soak up the time and effort could have used to make games for other genres. That goes for the VC as well. -

LOL Several original games yet you only remark on two series? Luigi should have had another game for the GC...Okay, cheers for Pikmin 2 but even that featured full levels of its prequel, just in different seasons/angles...Thats kind of 'lazy', but I am thankful for it. -
I ask this because it seems people or rather fans except that there are certain things Nintendo just won't do - Like a grande scale Wii RPG Pokemon game (see topic). TP felt all too familiar to me and the new Pokemon games are too, this makes me begin to wonder if Nintendo only want to stick with what rakes in the money - a true and tried formulae. Do we just except these short-comings as a conservative Nintendo standard and get the games anyway? *Apologies for the misspelling in the title... Thats 'accept'.

...I know I'm really living in dream world when I say this but...Would it be SO hard to make a Wii Pokemon EPIC RPG - I mean on the grande scale of, say...I don't know... FINAL FANTASY! My most favourite thing about Pokemon is the battle system; old-skool and strategic - like a game of chess, the elemental system is just spot on. So in any case they have the battle system done. But whats so hard about figuring out a deep story, with a sprinkle of a few FMVs and a hint of orchestrated familiar pokemon tunes. Surely, it can't be THAT hard! I mean, the Wii is popular, almost as near popular as the legendary Snes, more so popular than the previous two generations. The handheld Pokemon adventures are getting dire, its the same ole, same ole. bring Pokemon up a gear and renew its life. I mean, whos really looking forward to the next Pokemon Black/White etc? Everything Nintendo are pulling is just all too familiar, Nintendo are starting to be too conservative for my liking - its like they just stick to a formula that will get them paid, rather than create a dozen timeless masterpieces.

ANSWER: Wifi & the Wii remote!

I love Pokémon battles... and battling trainers in stunning 3D from across the globe is nothing short of gaming heaven. I watch pbr battles on you tube regularly... But... what the heck is revolutionary about this game? Its even worst than its stadium predecessors! Plus the fact you need a; DS + Pokemon game to fully enjoy this... and you're paying $49.99? Nintendo must really LOVE you.
-
Look, simply put the GC pokemon games were crap... But at the prospect of skilled elemental poke battles... I bought BOTH of them! Note that I am 21. Surely Nintendo knew they released a mediocre game and reviews are proof of this, so why not start from there on making a Wii pokémon game? The 'four years' of its development would have been up by next year. I agree with the lazy Nintendo statement, their not even trying. These games they put so much enthusiasm on, such as: Mario Galaxy and Metroid 3 honestly does not really grab my attention. If Nintendo carries on at this pace with this laziness... well I might have to move on.

I feel Nintendo are slipping bad when it comes to pokemon console games but PBR takes the biscuit. How long must we wait for a full blown, console adventure? This is why I sometimes view Nintendo as a 'low' company solely looking for profit and not giving a damn about its loyal fans. Any other company would have done this, but why is Nintendo stalling? Don't they realise how it would sell and sell consoles? ...Need to really sack a few of these old fogies... Imagine a Wii Pokemon adventure, complete with wifi... But that thought, though physically doable, just seems like a distant dream...*sigh*
