  1. Since creating new threads is hard this is the best place to ask:

From what I've noticed everything in Wii is done to work with the lan adapter (no updates needed), and that's probably just a normal USB network card like this:

    USB_LAN_02.jpg

Does anyone have such a thing and a Wii to try?

Can't remember where I read it, however I tried to connect my wii with an ethernet cable and a £10 usb-ehternet adaptor and it didnt work, i think it said the lan adaptor is not inseterd properly.

Anyhoo it said the lan adaptor is released next Spring.

a few posts above you xernobyl!;) I was also wondering this...

  2. I have to say I am SO happy with PCWorld. Wii arrived today 8:50 (DHL you beauties!). I had a problem with payment on Wednesday so it was only posted out Thursday afternoon, so it got here overnight (even tho PCWorld stated 2-7 days delivery) and lo and behold a free copy of WiiPlay!! Must have run out of remotes so chucked a WiiPlay in instead. A+++++++

On the other hand my 7am trip to Game for my sisters Wii, although successful, was a bit crap. 2 guys turned up(2nd/3rd in queue) and had 'lost' their deposit receipts - not sure their names were even found in the pre-order book but they walked away with a Wii + accessories... I get to the till to find the last Nunchuck just sold to the guy in front. Not very happy

After an hour long trip around town ASDA came up trumps - hadn't even unpacked their nunchucks/Wii-motes at 11.30!!!

All in all a great day!! :D

  3. I ordered mine from

    pcworld.co.uk

on the ws it says I should receive it 5-7 w-days AFTER the

    release date.

But I am still waiting for an e-mail confirmation.

I got the dispatch email today 12pm and it's DHL Next Day delivery (although Cust Ser told me it would take 2-3 days so may well be mon-tues next week... Id ring them if you've not had email by now. They had stock on tues/wed.

  4. I went in to Game in Bristol earlier today and the manager there said that he'd had enough Wii's in to cover his whole 'first batch pre-order shipment' and had actually received enough to cover some 'second batch' pre-orders on launch too... this is interesting considering some companies (gameplay/argos etc) are unable to fulfill them all due to supply problems. Game really do appear to have the buying power. Pity their prices are so bloody steep.

  5. Just checked my Credit Card and PCWorld took the money yesterday. At least I know I've definitely got a Wii. Just hope they deliver on time.

I, typically, had a problem with my card authorisation!! The order is now "progressing" - I hope thats a positive sign?? They told me on the phone that orders will take 2-3 days so Friday looks a good bet (especially if they took your money yesterday!!)

  6. Having read a few comments in this thread that PCWorld weren't going to send anything out until the 8th, and resigning myself to the fact that I wasn't going to get my Wii until next week, I've just received an email from them to say that they are now processing my order and will let me know when it's despatched.

OK, so they still might not send it until the end of the week, but at least I now know that they're doing something.

I have noticed, however, that it's only my Wii that's being processed. My Wii Play, 2 extra controllers and 3 extra nunchucks are still in pre-order status.

Ditto!! I was annoyed at the thought of it only being sent on 8/12 but I reckon Cust Ser may be talking crap as the website clearly says pre-orders will be sent to arrive on launch day in the FAQs. Gotta remember that even if it's a few days late it's still coming unlike some unlucky people... :bouncy:

  7. Quote: PC World - Will have no extra stock on launch day, and have only been allocated 20% of their pre-orders. So this is a no go now. An email was sent to stores today confirming this apparently.

Was that only 20% of online pre-orders too? or purely in-store ones... got me worried here!!

  8. I just rang PCWorld about my pre-order (online) to be told it won't be dispatched until 8/12!! :nono::angry: This had better be a mistake by their sales guy. I wouldn't care as I am also picking one up on launch from Game (for my Sis - but maybe mine now!! ) but the problem is I ordered a bundle from PCWorld and the games will be delayed if true.... and I'll be sitting around with only WiiSports on launch day... how shit. Anyone else heard something different from them??

  9. Game will never give away a full price game!! Best you'll get are some 3rd party accessories chucked in.. usually something you don't want. If they did do buy 2 get 1 free it would be on all the crap games no one in their right mind ever buys...

  10. judging by it has a massive green General box, im guessing its Austrailian

    wiiplayback_1164692847.jpg

    wiiplayinside_1164692965.jpg

its onyl a disc and box, not much to say about it. why does information take up half of the box now!?!

Hard to see with the light, but Wii play is only 2 player?

That's a bit shit... would have banked on Wii Play being 4 player... disappointing. :nono:

  11. Some extras: (some are same as first post but there are a few interesting new ones here)

    Found here:Wiichat

Figured a tips n tricks section would be kind of cool. Some of these were found by IGN users.

    1. Press the home button on the main menu. Next click on the controller image. You can adjust the wii-mote volume and rumble functions

    2. Hold a and b down and you can move the windows on the main menu around.

    3. In order to add someone to your friend's list you BOTH have to enter eachother's Number ID and Console Nickname to be able to send messages and Mii's

    4. Want your plain-looking Wii to have some style? Add a blue light around you CD drive anytime the console is on by doing the following:

Go to your email from the home menu, and add your personal computer email address to your address book. Wait ~1 hour for the email (mine took at least this long) Reply to the email from your computer. In a few minutes, you will have an email waiting for you on your Wii. Don't read it! As long as it remains new, you have a pretty blue light!

    5. In wii sports bowling, you can release on the back swing and throw the ball backwards. It scares all the miis behind you.

    6. Email A Wii: You can email any Wii that you know the Friend code for. The Email address will be w(Wii Number here)@wii.com. For Example: [email protected]

    7. Get rid of Generic Teammates/Spectators: The Wii will automatically use the other Miis in your Plaza as teammates and spectators in certain Wii sports games. Create friends and family, and you can get rid of the generic Miis.

    8. Register and Extend Warranty: Register your Console on Nintendo.com, get a free 90 day extension to your warranty.

    9. Get Free Nintendo Power: Register 3 Nintendo products on Nintendo.com, and get 3 months of Nintendo Power free.

    10. Extra Parts: There are two parts to the Wii in your box that you may either not find, or never know what they are. The first is a Clear Disc piece. This piece fits under your Wii stand to Stabalize it's balance. The second is a Small(1" - 1.5") plastic Piece. This piece is the stand for the Sensor bar. It puts some disntance between your TV and the bar. In theory, that should give you a better angle reception.

    11. Get Miis in your parade: Setting your Miis to Mingle, and having your friends do the same thing will soon have Miis walking around in your parade. Your friends' Miis will wonder over to your console and parade around, so long as they are set to Mingle. You can then grab them and send them to your Plaza so you have a copy.

    12. In Zelda, the direction Link spins when doing a spin attack depends on which way you spin your nunchuck

    13. In Wii Sports Bowling, when you press up on the Directional Pad, it will zoom in on the lane. The zoom in sound is the exact same sound from Super Mario 64 anytime you moved the camera.

    14. If you go to the Channel section in your menu you can choose to save VC games on a SD card....

    15. In LOZ:TP if you keep it at the start screen for an extended period of time, it plays an extremely extended trailer that they didn't show to the general public which is pretty cool.

    16. On hole 3 of Wii Sports Golf, there is a small section of fairway at about a 45 degree angle to the left from the tee box. It is a small patch surrounded by Out Of Bound-ness. If you can land your ball on there, you can easily make it on the green in 2, to to Eagle the course.

    17. Wii Video 9 - Wii Video Converter

Wii Video 9 is a free video conversion application developed by Red Kawa. It allows you to convert your computer video files (like avi, divx, mpeg, etc.) into the specific video formats that are playable on the Wii.

Wii Video 9 can also be combined with Videora, another software application, and together they can let you automatically download and convert video for your Wii using BitTorrent and RSS technology.

    18. In the Wii menus, turn your wrist and the hand cursor will also turn.

    19. from Varelse: I just found and confirmed a little easter egg. I'm not sure if it's already known, but while your Wii is powered down you can press any button on your Wiimote and lights will flash. The number of lights flashing is the amount of charge left in your battery (1 is least charge, 4 is most charge)

    20. In Wii Bowling, if you aim right to any lane near you, you can throw your ball there, but you won't hit any pins unless you aim right.

    21. Zelda. You can skip cutscenes in Zelda by hitting the - button

    22. Black Ninja Wii Bowling easter egg YouTube - Easter Egg

    23. When you purchase a virtual console title and Mario runs across the screen, if you happen to get fire flower Mario, you can shoot fireballs with the A button.

    24. Omie When looking at your messages press a+b and you can move the messages around. If you have A LOT of messages like me then you can arrange them in this manner or you can just delete them

  12. I read that Argos are keeping some Wii's back for shoppers on the day. Apparently they have it in their special xmas catalogue and you can just go in and order it now (or on the day) and collect it then. I read this on a forum - someone said they knew a manager for Argos and they always put some 'low key' into the catalogue and they had ordered theirs that way... might be worth a look even if Argos online have sold out.

  13. I think 2000 points in the US has an RRP of $20.

I think 2000 points in the UK has an RRP of £20

Which, unless we have games for less points, its quite a rip-off.

I've only ever seen 2000 points priced at £14.99 so would presume that that is the going rate.

  14. Nintendo released today this quarter's fiscal report, and 1st party release list for year 2007. Because I can't read japanese, I pasted list into Babelfish and used its translation to determine which game was which.

    Animal Crossing

    Battalion Wars II

    Big Brain Academy

    Disaster: Day of Crisis

    DK Kongo Blast

    Eyeshield 21

    Excite Truck

    Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn

    Forever Blue

    Kirby

    Mario Party 8

    Mario Strikers Charged

    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

    Project H.A.M.M.E.R

    Super Mario Galaxy

    Super Paper Mario

    Super Smash Bros Brawl

    Wii Health Pack

    Wii Music

So... 19 titles. Last Gamecube titles have been transferred to Wii, and there is also few new titles, like Wii Health Pack and Animal Crossing. Statistically speaking, if there won't be any delays, Nintendo is going to release 1.6 Wii titles per month which is pretty decent pace.
