Recommended Posts

I wasnt sure weather to put this thread but i saw some of the new first4figures models, Samus, Link etc and its made me think about start collecting Action figurers. Im just wondering where the best places to shop for them are and what to store them in if i decide to take some out of there packaging, and anything i else i should really need to know.

I've seen some Resdient Evil 4 figures in gamestation, I'd like to start a collection of them. First4figures are pricey aren't they?

Online and if game related, Gamestation. The only places I can think of, action figures are pretty rare nowadays (well, the ones that matter).

The best thing to do is collect figures from series' you like, that way your interest will not wane after a period of time. Pick a figure set from one or two shows you like and start collecting.

Furthermore, it's your call whether or not to open or keep them sealed. I personally open mine. It's far more fun and rewarding to pose and display toys than keep them sealed away. If you open them, be sure to keep the packaging so you can reseal them at a later date should you ever decide to sell up.

Also, go to a comic conventions. There's the Collectormania ones (one upcoming at the end of this month in Milton Keynes), London Film and Comic con every year (next years will be updated soon) plus those sites all link to a load more conventions that may be closer to you. Conventions are a great place to start a toy collection as they have a huge quantity there for very reasonable prices (dealers, etc.).

Keep us posted on how your collection comes along.

I have a small collection of Marvel Figures. I cannot understand people that religiously leave them in the packet, and buy them with the intention of keeping them and not selling them...Yeah, I hate that.

So I put them on shelves, in cool poses.

Woolworths can be a greta place for figures, as particularly in the Marvel Legends line there are "variant" figures, which will be slightly different, and much much rarer, and sell for a lot more on Internet/specialist shops.

Examples; Wonder man, variant is clear-purple. Wolverine with no mask etc.

Anything Perfect Grade is super expensive, EevilMurray. Nice catch. Are you going to build it? I recently picked up a cheap Perfect Grade Eva-01 only to find it had some bits already assembled and not included - something that kind of fucked my plans to build it up.

With regards to protection, glass cabinets are always nice to store figures in. Ikea sell some really nice wall mounted ones at an affordable price. If you're curious how these look stuffed full of toys, I'll show you a picture of mine on the wall. You're going to fit a lot of toys into these, and they look awesome - especially if you fit in some lights (beyond my capabilities):

Storing almost every box for those toys is... difficult.

My figure collecting has waned lately, since the new American DragonBall Z toys are horrible. Luckily there are some new lines due out I want to collect like Lost and the Revoltech Evangelions. I'll also pick up some of the key Family Guy characters to add to the set - and expand on the Mezco South Park figures come Collectormania at the end of the month.

Another set I've been almost desperate to collect is some of the Street Fighter series. Those figures are incredibly cool. Might pick a few up later at the comic store if I go into town before work, but here's the catch - I only want the originals. Who are all these newcomers?

Lastly, Neca recently released a great Shaun from Shaun of the Dead in their Cult Classics line. It was a bit pricey on eBay, yet browsing Play.com has yielded some salvation. I shall have it.

Ebay is good. And by the way, I have the largest collection in Europe of Marvel Comic's Iron Man figures. ;)

I would like to have a proper collection like that, I guess the only thing I have that might be considerer collecting quality is a relatively large South Park toys. I would like to have some Naruto and EVA figurines, but then I imagine kids coming in my room and raping them apart.

Never been enough of a Metal Gear (if you want Metal Gear, get Dabookerman to show you his RAH MGS3 Snake) or Final Fantasy fan to pick up the figures, but I can grab you a few closeups of the Zelda ones I have. They're very old and I got them from Computer Exchange ages ago when Ocarina of Time first came out or soon afterwards.

Link was £10 and the Ganondorf/Zelda/Link three-pack was £15. I have lost smaller Link's sword, and bigger Link's Master Sword is totally bent and repainted in silver because the light blue colour looked lame. The clip-on part of his shield is also broken and held on by 5-year-old blu-tak. They're just too cool now to have on display. Please ignore the Pokémon figures... those too are just too cool not to have in there.

These toys seem to go for a lot on eBay, although those are carded/mint condition ones. Mine only have sentimental value at best.

I also have a boxed set from Epoch's C-Works. Young Link riding Epona. It's from Majoras Mask. Epoch also planned to release 4 individual blister packed Majoras Mask figures: Goron Link, Zora Link, Deku Link and Link with all the masks and his cool upgraded sword. Sadly I don't think all of these were ever widely released/manufactured, but they are very, very cool.

Here's the shot of them on the back of the Link and Epona box:

I have to this day ever seen one loose and one carded Deku Link on eBay.

Holy shit, I clicked with intent to buy... but then I clicked off. Why are the only decent Zelda figures so expensive? Come on Nintendo.

Oh, you're kidding me! I picked it up for 20p at a car boot sale several months ago. You can see it in the above pics.

That whole CMD store is a complete ripoff.
