Posted July 21, 2007 Why is it called Xbox? It was its original code name, during product testing it was found that people liked the Xbox name more than others. Also, the X comes from 'Direct X' a graphics technology that powers the console. I've been soaking in the bath and it's started to bother me: Why is it called the "360" again exactly? For two reasons: 1, The ring of light on the joypads and console. 2, The bigger reason, because PS3 would sound newer than Xbox 2. I still think they should have called it its codename, Xenon.
