The Medusa Cascade was previously mentioned in "Last of the Time Lords" and in "The Fires of Pompeii". On the subject of UNIT, where are all the old faces, obviously Lethbridge Stewart would have retired years ago, but what about some of the lower ranked characters like Benton or Yates, it's conceivable one of them would have been promoted to a position of command by now. Why not? They kill everything else. (The Autons, the Master, Daleks, Cybermen, the Time Lords, Racnoss, they seem to go through the seven gates of Hell to ensure that nothing survives).
