Who knows, but according to the Resistance dudes, having all the sounds, languages and so on used up more space than a DVD would allow them to. It will benefit companies making RPGs anyway. Blue Dragon on 360 is 3 DVDs.

I know it's nice to have it all on one disc but if I had to choose between having a 3 disc game or spending £200 (probably over exaggerating) so it could be on one disc I know which one I'd rather!

So Resistance could have been split into two discs as well then. I'm just worried that it means developers aren't going to utilise the space, if they really set their minds to it then could they get the data onto a smaller format?!

So with the EU launch comming up next week anybody planning anything wild or exciting for launch?

Q'ing out all night?

I think Ill be outside my local GAMESTOP for about 3am, because theres a great buzz around launch.

The GAMESTOP in my area said they had taken 35 pre orders but they were expecting 50 consoles.

Interest in the PS3 had been far more than they had had for the Wii OR 360 so looks like my town is remaining a Sony stronghold for now....

BTW before you say they were shitting me, I know the lads well, used to work with one of them so they give me the truth, maybe they are shitting me who knows but thats what I was told!!

Apparently blu ray is outselling hd dvds in america

Not so true.

HD-DVD drives are out selling Blu Ray drives.

However, Blu Ray movies are outselling HD-DVD movies by the shit tonne.

Doesn't that sorta indicate that people are buying the PS3 as their choice of Blu Ray player? Maybe that would explain why sales of blu ray drives are low but movies are high.

People buy HD DVD drives and only one or two DVDs, but people who buy Blu Ray drives buy lots and lots of films?

Maybe it has something to do with the number/quality of films on HD and Blu Ray?

Maybe its a mix of all three.

Movie buffs buy blu ray drives. Movie studios know this so release their content on blu ray. And around it goes keep getting larger.

Hit the nail on the head, Blu Ray is seeing a regular release schedule of decent films, where as they're barely anything on the HD-DVD schedule, let alone anything good.

Casino Royale looks amazing on Blu-ray. It's the first blu-ray that actually made me go wow! and I've seen quite a few of them.

Spot on there, I've got HD DVD on 360 and I like V for Vendetta, and Van Helsing, and now I'm looking for a decent film and....... nowt.

But the thing is if that is also crap then you don't have to buy it!

What sucks is that you're forced to pay for something when in a years time you'll probably be able to get better and cheaper stand alone players.

But the HD player isn't crap, and that's my point, I don't think Blu Ray on PS3 will be any different to that. I'm not one to stick up for Sony but I don't think there is anything to suggest PS3 is a bad Blu Ray player, and I think anyone thinking that is going completely off the quality of the PS2 DVD player.

But there must be a reason why they can sell it at such a cheap price compared to stand alone players, especially since its a high spec games console as well!?

Also if I'm going off the quality of the PS2 DVD player then I think that's perfectly reasonable! After all its the same company basically offering the same thing (PS2 was a cheap DVD player, PS3 a cheap Blu-Ray player). If it is of a good quality the fair enough, I however, have my doubts.

sooo we know theres stock out there right? we also now know that they're not selling a lot of PS3s comparatively right? soooo what conclusion can we draw from this boys and girls? that Sony have just launched at too high a cost? or maybe people don't really want a PS3 yet? hmmmm
