Broadband solution, help!

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm thinking of getting broadband and I don't really know much about what.

So I need a bit of help.

My current situation.

One phone socket downstairs. I have a huge ass cable running from that to my PC in my bedroom. My mum then disconnects mine and uses her cable when she using her laptop downstairs.

I would like broadband so we can both use it at the same time, how do you think it would be best to do this? Because I know some people who share constantly go offline and get disconnected and I don't want that happening.

Cheers.

Usually when you get the modem you'll get a microfilter with it, i found that with BT and Wandoo, i think most provders will give you one.

Why not get a wireless router while you're at it and lose the 'huge ass cable'?

Aren't said 'huge ass cables' more realiable then a wireless signal though?

Well yes, as long as its not reallyreally 'huge ass' a cable will always be more reliable - but I connect to my wireless router using a fairly basic USB adapter through two fairly thick walls with very, very few connection issues. I also use my Nintendo DS online from upstairs using the same router and no problems. I think wireless connections have improved lately.

I really can't be fussed with wireless though. It's just a novelty for a house of my size.
