Posted August 11, 2009 Croupier Strange film about a novel writer who finds work in a casino and writes about it. Pretty interesting, fairly stylish in it's own way and a gripping plot. It's odd how compelling it is for a film where nothing much happens. Posted August 12, 2009 Con Air or cage running in slow motion with a mullet the fact that every one who walked intot he roon at work looked at the tv for 5 seconds and went "con air? nice!" says it all. much like cool runnings it is a film that is impossible to disslike. as awsome as it is ovber the top action. simply put, best film in the universe. 1,000,000,000/10 Devil's rejects or wha? ok, i know this film has a lot of love, but seriosuly, i thought it was pretnentions and boring. "look how controversial we are!" it screams. i sat, un impressed and un aroused. pretty much a waste of my time 4/10 Role modles or small black boys are comedy gold very hit and miss, but all in all very sweet and charming. i laughed a few times, but it was mostly the type of film you smile at. missed the very end due to some silly cock geting the swine flu agreeable if forgetable 6.5/10 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Posted August 12, 2009 Män som hatar kvinnor (Men who hate women): An intense murder mystery based on a novel by the same name. It kind of surprised as to how dark it was and it some of the scenes went really into the uncomfortable zone. The plot is what I liked the most, it managed to stay interesting and exciting throughout the whole film and the characters very interesting. Music and the setting fitted all very well for the film and create a mood that films the film. Overall I think it´s a great film and would recommend it if you want to see an intense murder mystery. Posted August 12, 2009 Terminator Salvation It was alright, it weren't bad. I like the Terminators but I wouldn't call myself a fan of it, if you get what I mean. Posted August 12, 2009 Moon Excellent film. I don't know if I need to see it again, but still, excellent. I had no idea what it was about, so when I realised he was a clone, it was so awesome. I loved feeling...uncomfortable and tense for most of the film. I loved how I immediately didn't trust Kevin Spacey robot, but he turned out to be as good as gold. Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) I'm really unsure as to where to put this, but as it is classed as a 'musical film', I'll put it in this thread. Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Pretty terrific stuff. Some memorable lines and very decent songs. I'm also now starting to truly understand why Neil Patrick Harris just seems to ooze of awesome-ness. 9/10 Just found that NPH did the voice of one of the Radio DJ's in Saints Row 2 and was in Starship Troopers 1 and an episode of Quantum Leap. Also Matt Berry and Kevin Spacey? Fuck yeah. I assumed he was going crazy at first, and then the clone reveal was awesome. It was pure whynz. I kinda wish there was more emotional scenes of him totally breaking down though...because...well, I'd be shitting myself. Still it was a fantastic performance from him. A wonderful idea but I can see why it wasn't a huge commercial success as its not really Disney as much as an exercise in artistic desire. Made me want to go listen to some classical music. Posted August 14, 2009 Angel A - Luc Besson is always a reliable film maker, and this is no different. It has the retard grocery boy from Amelie in the lead role as a man who, basically, tries to jump off a bridge because he can't afford to pay a bunch of people off, but looks across and sees a blonde woman contemplating the same thing. She jumps, he saves her. She gives her life to him to use as he pleases, and so unfurls an amusing yarn about redemption with some tearful moments. Need to replace my Disney VHS collection by DVDs. =P And yeah, if we lived close we could watch Disney and Pixar films all day and make plans to go work for them and speculate about upcoming films while eating candy and drinking hot chocolate or something! It was certainly a lot tighter than the first, which was kinda uneven. I liked the rotation of presenters too, kept it less stagnant. I really liked Rhapsody in Blue, must listen to some more Gershwin. The art style, the music, the story itself and the fact it was introduced by James Earl Jones. Perfect. In fact I don't think there wasn't any I didn't like. I think I may use The Sorcerer's Apprentice as a reason to explain my dislike in cleaning in the future Steamboat Willie Classic. I love the very literal 'push and pull' mechanics used within the characters. Finding Nemo I've been wanting to rewatch this since going to the Sea Life Centre the other day. Duuuuude!
