The last film I watched was called 'groundhog day.'

It was about a man who kept reliving the same day over and over again, and different things kept happening. It is quite hard to explain actually. anyway - I would rate it 6/10, but I was tired and grumpy whilst I watched it

A crazy rating! It's dead dead good. I mean, it has Bill Murray, back when he was funny!

The Fly was on Channel 5 Saturday night.

 

It has a genetically wrecked monkey, a man turning into a fly and a woman giving birth to a larvae (sp?)

 

I'm going to chuck this a 10/10, for when the Fly merged with the pod at the end became some kind of wrecked mecha fly from the waist down.

I bought a few films from HMV's 3 for £15 on there website recently i'll stick opinions up as and when. But anyway:

 

The Man Who Wasn't There : I'm a big fan of the Cohen brothers (the lady killers aside) and this didnt disapoint me. Set in America in the late 1940's it stars Billy Bob Thornton as a man who is fed up with his life and looking for a way out. His wife is cheating on him he hates his job yaddah yaddah. When a stranger offers him the chance to be a partner in a dry cleaning firm he jumps at the chance. The only problem he needs $10,000.....

 

All in all a pretty good film not one of the Cohens best but I still rate it pretty highly 7/10.

Watched Sympathy for Lady Vengence last night. it's not as good as Oldboy, but it's still really good, and very dark stuff. Also odly amusing at times.

 

 

I'd rate it an 8. Oldboy gets a 10 though.

bloom and knightly have got to be the worst actor/actress in hollywood at the moment they are both so poor and the script for the film was terrible full of cheesy twists and riddled with plot holes. The only reason to see the film is the hilarious performance by johnny depp which it is pretty obviously the selling point for the whole film.

all in all 5/10 and please god don't do see it twice.

I'd seen The Fly before but forgotten most of it, the ending was so disgusting and sad.

I've seen quite a few lately.

Cube - 8/10. Excellent concept, but kinda lacking in variety. A worthwhile watch though, I hear Cube 2 is better in the variety way but I've yet to see it.

Superman Returns - 8/10. I really liked this, despite people saying it sucks. True to the original series and also manages to not contradict Smallville noticeably. Also, the best casting I've ever seen in a movie (Yes, really).

40 Year old Virgin - 7/10. Funny. Cool characters. But a bit unoriginal.

Kung Pow (Had already seen it, but re-saw) - 10/10. Possibly the best comedy/parody movie ever made.

The Rock (Had also already seen that) - 10/10. Probably the best action movie ever made.

The Constant Gardener : If I am honest I only bought this film because its directed by the same person who directed City of God which is one of my favourite films ever. Anyway I went into this not really knowing what it was about. Its got an interesting story about drug trials in Africa. Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz both put in pretty good performances and ths plot as a whole is pretty good. However where the film really shines is through the scenery, it is shot in a very similar style to City of God with lots of sweeping views and the like. I was pretty well entertained so ill give it 8/10.

Don't watch Cube2. It's appaling. they try to explain the first one, and that ruins the first one. Luckily I've forgotten it/blocked it out.

 

Cube is an amazing film. Don't ruin it by watching the sequel.

Hmm, my friend who has and has seen all three Cube movies says that #1 is the best, #2 is not as good but good in a different way and Cube Zero just plain sucks. I don't see what's yet to explain in the first one.. Does it explain who's behind the whole thing..?

I finally got around to watching 'Perfect Blue' the other day. It may look dated in comparison to today's CGI-laden animé, but I've never seen its like animated before. It's a brutal film — bar the incongruous final minutes — but that only serves to drive its claws deeper, culminating in a highly effective thriller. 8/10

Watched rental of Fun with Dick and Jane - 7/10 for being very fun, some great jokes but not Jim's best work. Some opportunities for some better gags missed, and the whole story arc didn't flow very well. However the characters went well together and Carrey's still got a ways to go yet.

Old school Stephen Chow film, full of funny little gags and so on. Basically what you expect from the awesome dude. Not as fancy as Kung Fu Hustle or Shaolin Soccer but the comedy doesn't need special effects to make you laugh. 7/10

I watched The Fly the other day.

Jeff Goldblum is a legend. "Brundle-Fly!" hahahaha.

Lots of scenes make me laugh. Definitely a film for the one-liners.

last film I watched:

War Of The Worlds: The Resurrection

 

Seen it before, but haven't in many years, it was the pilot movie for a tv series following on from the events of the 1953 movie spectacular!

 

The aliens weren't killed by bacteria, but were instead forced into some kind of dead hybernation, their bodies basically just stopped. Accidental exposure to nuclear waste revives them and they head out, taking over human bodies and reviving more of their brethren, in search of their fighting machines. Those unstoppable machines were even impervious to an atom bomb in the original movie, so if the aliens themselves are now immune to our bacteria, just three of those ships could slowly destroy the world...

 

Step in Harrison Blackwood (played by Jared Martin), an astrophysicist, Suzanne McCullough (Lynda Mason Green) a micro biologist, Norton Drake (a disabled computer genius) and Lt Col Paul Ironhorse (Richard Chaves) a Cherokee Indian Colonel and weapons specialist.

 

Brought together one by one inside a well-written plot that truly feels like a well-planned sequel to the original, some actual suspence and "jump" moments of gore and surprise and this beautifully sets up the series with excellent characters and a genuine feeling of being on the brink of another war.

 

The series was excellent too, but at the end of the first successful series its creator had a falling out with Paramount, who promptly sacked him from his own creation and brought in a new boss who destroyed it and turned it into a cheesy sci-fi show for its second year, killing off half the cast in its first episode! needless to say it was cancelled.

 

The first year had everything, the start of a multi-year plot (before Babylon 5!), links back to other War Of The Worlds spin-offs (like the Orson Welles' radio broadcast really being a cover-up for an actual alien scouting mission), stories that spanned back a thousand years, even cameos from Ann Robinson from the original movie! The good guys also didn't win every week either, sometimes there was stalemate and sometimes we lost outright against the aliens! Programmes don't do that anymore Truly ahead of its time, it's even more frightening these days as the aliens operated and expanded on their terror cells throughout the world, its relevence today is even more profound, just like HG Wells' original novel is too.

 

It was also superb at its moments of humour too, where IS its main writer and creator Greg Strangis these days??? I know his father (his fellow executive producer on this) is now co-executive producer on CSI:Miami.

 

10/10, best pilot movie I've ever seen!

I just borrowed Seven Swords last night off my mate and watched it.

 

I thought it was awesome, just the story to the sword fighting scenes everything was done brilliantly. It wasnt as artisic as say House of Flying Daggers but it was a great film none the less and better than Hero IMO. I urge all who like these kind of films to give it a look.
