Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line

Recommended Posts

So this is a tweet from the founder of indieszero replying to a query about getting the Digital Deluxe content with a physical copy of the game, and according to his response, it will be possible.

Not sure how at the mo, but if you wanted the physical copy, keep an eye out.

Not sure if this was already known, but it seems that the official tracklist is out, including which tracks are in the Digital Deluxe version, and which ones will be part of the DLC.

From my own observations, the only tracks seemingly missing from Curtain Call are:

  • Precipitous Combat (FF Tactics)
  • real Emotion (FFX-2)
  • Leviathan Battle (Chocobo Dungeon)
  • We Have Come (FF Type-0)
  • Zero (FF Type-0)
  • Echoes of the Spiral (Legend of Mana)
  • That Person's Name Is (Bravely Default)
  • Wicked Flight (Bravely Default)
  • Serpent Devouring the Horizon (Bravely Default)
  • Horizon of Light and Shadow (Bravely Default)

Technically, we still haven't info on all the DLC yet, but the absence of all things Bravely Default so far is mighty strange, especially when "4 Heroes of Light" actually has music this time around.

So, the first pack will be available on release date, then roughly every two weeks for the first pass. After that, roughly every three weeks.

@Jonnas implied a while back the possibility that the last two packs will be from currently unreleased Square games, and I'm inclined to agree with him at this point.
Specifically, I'm gonna bet it'll be Octopath Traveler II, and Final Fantasy XVI, which will be out by then.

Game offers the option for a streamer friendly HUD.

There probably is, but I can't think of another game that does this. Neat!
Feburary feels so far away...

Kinda crazy that this game's demo has more content than many rhythm games do in total!

Awww yeah! Best demo of the year incoming!

Bet some saddo's gonna play it so much, they get all 30 characters maxed out as much as they can before the game is out.

On an unrelated note, I might have spent literal hours on the 3DS demos...

THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE demo tracklist

https://www.square-enix-games.com/en_GB/news/theatrhythm-final-bar-line-demo

Plenty there to whet the appetite. Nice selection of tunes from II, V and VII. Glad to see Defiers of Fate in the demo mix as it was one of, if not my most played track on the 3DS Theatrhythm. And I haven't even played FF XIII. An epic track with that FMV playing in the background. They knew to hold Battle on the Big Bridge back for the full game. ;)

During the livestream they said there will be no extra characters on top of what is already known. However, they're happy fans want to know about this... so does that mean they could add more at a later date if the demand is there? I dunno. Hadn't realised a character list was out so after some late-night web searching last night, it looks like my Crisis Core party won't be happening then. :( Onion Knight will have to band together with a bunch of misfits instead.

I'm gonna keep myself in the dark about what characters are in it in that case. I wanna feel genuine crushing disappointment when I realise Benjamin is the only Mystic Quest character.

It's just not the same if I look it up beforehand.

I'm all fingers and thumbs playing this. Even pressing the d-pad for the arrows sometimes. No idea where that's coming from. Not deterred in the slightest bit though.

Went from II to XIII then circled back to V (had to resist reaching for the Micro and FF V cart when I heard that optimistic V opening) and took it in order through the rest. Liking the map presentation—would be cool panning through that on 3DS. Blinded By Light (XIII) is a good one that I didn't remember from the 3DS however it is in there, tucked away under the Encore list. Only played it half a dozen times (including once during this check) so stands to reason I wouldn't remember it. Could end up being one of my more preferred tracks on Final Bar Line.

There's always a worry I won't be as fond of tunes from the FFs I don't know, with Defiers of Fate being the exception that proved the rule. Glad to say that hasn't been the case with the demo selection. I liked Hard to Miss (XIV) enough to make it the first one I tried on Ultimate... yup, a swift F. :D I'll get it figured out once my fingers and thumbs untangle themselves.

As expected, the FF XV characters translated well to the Theatrhythm graphical style... if all you've played is the pocket edition like me.

FF XIV has a pretty solid soundtrack. It also seems to have had a massive boost to it's song list compared to Curtain Call too. The HUD hints at around 20 songs not in Curtain Call! Granted, that game has had some expansions since Curtain Call.

I'm pleased with the strong start FF XV has. I looked at the sound test and saw Yoko Shimomura as the composer. So that explains that.

I like how unique each character is in this. The abilities have been vastly expanded, so even the healers tend to specialise in certain things. At the level 30 cap the demo has, I've been rocking an all healer team of Aerith, Vanille, Y'shtola, and the best character, Minwu. You need all the healing you can get.

So I've been going through the basic scores of most songs on here and it's kind of annoying the rhythmia doesn't go above 500 so it seems kinda pointless playing more other than to level characters.

Played the 3DS Curtian Call to death, still do actually. Going from stylus to buttons can be a little difficult though.

I'm just playing the demo casually. I'll end up just restarting my file for the full game, because the demo doesn't have enemies drop Collectacards, and I prefer to go through each title in order.

The "Collab Arrange" versions of Aerith's Theme and Cosmo Canyon are the ones that feature in Smash Ultimate.

So there you go. You technically have a couple of Nintendo songs now.

Not related to this particular game, but related to the Theatrhythm series – per GoNintendo, the Theatrhythm team would be open to a Nintendo-themed installment.

Quote

THEATRHYTHM producer Ichiro Hazama and director Masanobu Suzui are doing the rounds with press to talk about THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE, but they're also fielding questions about potential future installments. While nothing is set in stone, the duo is indeed open to working with other franchises for unique THEATRHYTHM installments.

...

In particular, the team has said they would love to work with franchises like Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem and Pokémon. It seems in general, the developers would be keen to work with Nintendo on an installment, and there's certainly a rich history of music there to play off of. Again, nothing official is underway at all, but let's hope Nintendo is listening!

It's been said before, but yep, that would be awesome – and seems like the devs agree.

As for this particular game, I think I'll wait until all the DLC is out before picking up a copy, but I'm definitely interested in giving it a whirl!

Considering how long Indieszero have been working directly with Nintendo for? I'm shocked that they haven't already made a Nintendo rhythm game!

Pre-ordered the stupid expensive everything edition when this was announced back in the Nintendo direct last year. Now i'm just waiting for midnight so i can play through atleast Final Fantasy 1. Will be deleting my save from the demo because of the collicticard drops and starting again.

Hope midnight is indeed the case then! I'm not so well-versed in eShop pre-order unlock times—fairly certain the only thing I've pre-loaded was the SaGa Collection and I don't remember what time it became available to play. Apparently the Splatoon 3 World Premiere too.

I might pick up Final Bar Line over the weekend if I spot it anywhere. Pretty sure they've said you can upgrade the physical to the deluxe...? Though I might hold off a bit longer to play it by ear on that front to make sure I have all the details.

So you reckon this is the way to go? That's another thing I'm not sure the pros and cons of. Normally you bonuses from a demo, not hamstrung.  :p
