All-new PlayStation Plus: Premium / Deluxe | Extra | Essential

I'd say it absolutely fits the vibe and cost of a game that seems like it'd end up on there eventually?

Definitely. An indie game is almost always in the Essential line-up and this would fit right in :)

In addition, the PlayStation Plus Collection has been announced to be coming to an end on 9th May 2023 as part of the above PS Blog entry.

Quote

We also wanted to provide an update on the PlayStation Plus Collection that has been offered as a benefit to PlayStation Plus members on PS5 since 2020. On May 9 the PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be offered. If you haven’t redeemed the titles in this collection yet, you can still do so until May 9, which will enable you to access those titles even after this date for as long as you remain a PlayStation Plus member.

For those that can't remember, this was the collection of 14 games which have been available since the launch of the PS5 in 2020 to PS+ members. Seems like a good idea to get them down as purchased on your account to make sure you've made the most out of the Collection, for me it just means getting some digital versions of games I already physically own!

Scoooooop!

According to this leak, Horizon Forbidden West might be coming to PS+ Extra/Premium this month, roughly a year after launch! Wonder if a similar window will be implemented with new first party titles moving forwards? Would be smart to get people in to buy the DLC I guess?

I didn't pick Forbidden West up last year, mainly because while I loved fighting Machines in Zero Dawn and the story of the machine uprising, everything else was...pretty meh to me about that game.

Would gladly take this in the PS+ Catalog and wait as long as I can before picking it up physically just to have it on my shelf :p

Probably best to not expect it. This is just to get people hooked for the upcoming DLC.

And it's official:

Legend of Dragoon is also being added as a Premium Classic! How is that not in the image used?! And Wild Arms 2, too!

Spoiler

• Horizon Forbidden West

• The Quarry

• Resident Evil VII biohazard

• Outriders

• Scarlet Nexus

• Borderlands 3

• Tekken 7

• Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown

• Earth Defense Force 5

• Oninaki

• Lost Sphear

• I Am Setsuna

• The Forgotten City

Spoiler

• The Legend of Dragoon

• Wild Arms 2

• Harvest Moon: Back to Nature

• Destroy All Humans!

Horizon Forbidden West and The Legend of Dragoon are the highlights for me, but damn, Capcom really making bank off RE7 with PlayStation huh? It's still included in the PlayStation Plus Collection until May and yet here they are re-upping it for PS4 owners to get access too! Oh, and S-E dropping all the Tokyo RPG Factory games is nice too!

Solid month, maybe one of the strongest for the Catalog and Classics yet? Shame I'm busy being addicted to Bloodborne :p

A month ago I bought DMCV only for it to be added to PS+ Extra.
I was soooo close to buying Outriders for 15 bucks last Monday...NOT THIS TIME, SONY! :p

I think I played demos of Oninaki, Lost Sphear and I am Setsuna and if I remember correctly...I didn't like 'em very much. Gonna give them another go, though :D

Anyways, incredible month. Sucks that I'm currently in a bit of a gaming lull, but maybe one of those titles will get me back at it :)

Essentials monthly titles and part of the Game Catalog for next month were revealed in today's State of Play:

Tchia is coming to the Game Catalog on Day 1 of its release (March 21st), which is a great get, as are Ghostwire and the Legacy of Thieves Collection :peace: (& from what others have said around here, Immortals could be a fun time too?)

Per billbil-kun, these are the Essentials games for May:

(not used their own Twitter post as they've started to keep the games hidden to get clicks, whereas I just want the image of everything :p)

Descenders is pretty good, but I already own it.

The rest...booooh :p

Not interested, but not too bothered. It's objectively a good month but not for me. *goes back to playing one of the other gazillion games available on PS+*

Free monthly games at the Essential tier for June are NBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and Trek to Yomi:

Was really excited for Trek to Yomi leading up to its release before hearing some middling things about it around launch, but hey, if it's a monthly game, guess I've got a good excuse to give it a go!

As mentioned in the blog post, we also have the first details on PS5 game streaming.

Quote

[...] we have very exciting news for PlayStation Plus Premium members. We’re currently testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games – this includes PS5 titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as supported digital PS5 titles that players own. When this feature launches, cloud game streaming for supported PS5 titles will be available for  use directly on your PS5 console. That means as a Premium member, it’ll be easier to jump into your favorite games without downloading them first onto your PS5 console. Our goal is to add this as an additional benefit to PlayStation Plus Premium as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the value of PlayStation Plus.

And lastly, this month's PS Classics were mentioned in the PlayStation All Access video covering this month's PS+ updates:

Quote

• Killzone: Liberation (PSP)

• Worms (PS1)

• Herc's Adventures (PS1)

There was also mention of Coded Soul in a tweet by PSUK, which has since been deleted.

Oh boy, another great month. Add these to my list:

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's • Revenge (PS4/PS5)
• Rogue Legacy 2 (PS4/PS5)
• Soulstice (PS5)
• Tacoma (PS4)
• A Hat in Time (PS4)
• Forager (PS4)
• Dodgeball Academia (PS4)
• The Wild at Heart (PS4)

Will I get to them soon? Of course not. In May I have completed two games and in June I'm at one, so far. There are some shorter ones on this list, though. I hope I'll get to finish at least one.

Paging @drahkon for next month's supposed Essentials games!

As always, per billbil-kun:

Quote

• Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

• Alan Wake Remastered

• Endling: Extinction is Forever

a super light-hearted month as we head into the summer, then :p

We also wanted to let you know that starting September 6 we will be increasing the price for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally across all benefit plans. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.

Here are the new prices for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscription plans.

PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription
79.99 USD | 71,99 Euro | 59.99 GBP | 6,800 Yen

PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription
134.99 USD | 125,99 Euro | 99.99 GBP | 11,700 Yen

PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription
159.99 USD | 151,99 Euro | 119.99 GBP | 13,900 Yen

The new prices for the 12-Month subscription will remain at a discounted rate when compared to purchasing the 1-Month or 3-Month subscriptions over a 12-month period.

Yikes.
First Nintendo, then Microsoft, now Sony.

Fuck off with that.

Definitely not sticking with Premium. Might even ditch Extra ::shrug:

September Essentials:

Also, yeah, yikes at that PS+ price hike @drahkon. I've still got another year from the Now > Premium upgrade I got last year, but this year I've played fewer games than ever, and the calendar is packed with new awesomeness that I'm missing out on. Not to mention the retro stuff has been abysmal ::shrug:
