Don't think I'm going to be able to get round to starting the game until tomorrow morning, if you're available at all?

Yeah, I'll probably be kicking around. Been messing around with the breeding and have got the two starters you want with all but 1 stat at the BEST level for you.

I've been faffing about with the Pokemon breeding side of the game in preparation for next week's Charizard 7 star raid. I'm trying to get a few options ready with near perfect IVs. 6 star raids are already challenging enough so who knows what a 7 star one is going to be like.

There's nothing like the bottle caps to change a Pokémon's IV's to perfect in this game?

There is but I like to try and get as many perfect IVs from breeding as possible. If I can get 5 out of the 6 then I'm happy enough. I actually managed to get a perfect Pokemon early this morning. Very satisfying.

Don't do that to me! You scared the daylights out of me!

With Set and the option to turn battle animations off being removed, no feature is safe!

EDIT: That said, you don't want perfect IV's across the board for Pokémon that specialise in Sp. Atk. Raising the Attack stat would just increase the damage you take from confusion and Foul Play.

I've been doing more 5 and 6 star raids today. The Pokemon I bred yesterday is taking care of business quite nicely.

I do think the raids are harder here than in Sword and Shield. In those games you could just rely on the lengendaries but there's more to it than that this time around.

I dig them a lot. It's more snappy, and the Tera types help to reward Pokémon knowledge.

Sure, that Tera bug type is weak to fire, but you need to be careful that the Pokémon's original type doesn't blindside you.

Unfortunately, more often then not, Sword/Shield raids were chockablock with some proper bad Pokémon, so I despair about having to rely with randos if these new raids require more finesse.

Yeah, it can be a bit rough. You really have to think about types and there's not really a Pokemon that's gonna cover everything and brute force a string of victories.

We're up to 11 badges now. I caved and looked up a map that shows the levels of each of the badges, so I'd have some semblance of where to go next. There's no real rhyme or reason to the level curve in this game, and I kinda hate that.

Spoiler

Palafin may just be one of the cleverest evolutions in Pokémon history.

I was already pretty excited by finding a Dolphin Pokémon (2 generations too late, but I'll take it), but the initial bewilderment when I saw what it evolved into is something that I've never experienced in Pokémon.

Believe me, I was disappointed at first, how could you not be? It looks almost identical. They just slapped a heart on it!

But then, I saw the Pokédex entry label it as "Zero Form". Did some digging in the summary screen, noticed the ability saying it transforms when it switches out. Good thing it just learned a pivoting move, huh?

So I test it out, and I was not ready for it.

Busted a gut when the dolphin equivalent of freaking Superman popped out of the ball! They somehow managed to make "find a phonebox so you can transform into your super ego" a mechanic in a turn based RPG! It's genius!

But things got better, I checked to see if the stats change with the form, and they do. Everything except HP and Speed goes up. Especially Attack, which more then doubled to over 150! On a level 38 Pokémon! That's obscene! Some legendaries don't get stats this good!

There is absolutely no way this thing doesn't get used in the competitive scene! It is far too effective! Having to pivot is not a disadvantage!

It's moments like the spoiler above that are why I enjoy restricting myself to new Pokémon only. You don't get that sense of discovery if you just stick to what you know in a playthrough.

Pokémon Scarlet/Violet Battle Stadium currently is using the same RNG seed for every battle. This allows us to choose moves to ensure that OHKO moves such as Sheer Cold always hit!

There's a video showing it in action but I didnt post it due to spoilers. Looks like competitive battles will be broken until they patch this.

Well, at least we're definitely getting some kind of patch in the future.

Because there's no way in hell that is gonna be kept around. Not with VGC being a thing.

Seems like an incredibly amateur mistake that slipped through the cracks because of this rush job.

I've been wrecking some raids today using my newly caught shiny. Thanks to the sandwich making method, making one appear only took a couple of attempts and I set off to make a cracking build that involves Belly Drum and Drain Punch. With the correct set up, it makes very quick work of the raids. That's two perfect Pokemon I've got set up now, as well as all of the side content completed. I think I finished around 30-40 5 and 6 star raids today and so that has given more than enough materials for any future builds.

After 60+ hours with the game I think I have exhausted all of the content for now. I'll pop back on for the new raids but for now I've done everything I can do with the game. Despite the mess it's in, I've had a cracking time with it. It's such a shame it was sent out in the condition it's in. I've watched videos of the game running much better via emulation/PC and it's a sign of what could have been. However, this wouldn't fix the lack of QoL features when organising your boxes. :nono:
