Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

According to the account linked below their Japanese names are Nyaoh (grass), Hogeta (fire) and Quass (water).

And English names from Serebii

English names do seem to confirm its either Italy or Spain ('gatto' being cat in both, 'ito' being a cute/small suffix in Italian if not both, fuoco being fire in Italian).

And Quaxly is just someone coming up with a great name and saying "screw consistency!"

Corporal Quack and Not Bubble Bobble Dragon are great!

😂 I much prefer these names! Maybe the English localisation team will take note!

Have to say I was not expecting this. It looks a little like Arceus, so hopefully it’ll evolve over gen 8 and build on the things that worked well in Arceus.  I’m slightly concerned that the short of length of time since Arceus and so maybe a longer development cycle could’ve made it look nicer? I’m not sure how Arceus played technically?

Told you all that Legends Arceus would be the future of the series.  Traditional mainline Pokemon as we once knew it is now dead forever.

Open World games are just so, so much easier to make and manage than traditional handcrafted worlds; especially with Pokemon's aggressive & incessent production schedule. Open World is also just so much more "impressive" and "big boy" in the eyes of the public; so it's Win-Win for TPC.

Yep, my biggest fears when I saw Legends is starting to look like it's coming to fruition.

I'll have to see more over time, but I never felt more of a hype deflation with a generation reveal then when it cut to boring, empty fields.

Fuecoco is a scrapped Apple design and Quaxly is just Ducklett with a new hat.

Wrong, Fuecoco is a better Applin design!

And Ducklett is criminally overlooked anyway, (Gen 5 Pokémon almost always are), so more Ducklett is A-OK.

This is Persian/Glameow/Litten/etc. There's loads of cat Pokémon. And that's not even counting the ones that are Bipedal!

Then again, Litten ended up becoming best Alola starter Incineroar, so there's still hope.

Scarlet is a type of killer whale and Violet is a type of sea squid so that's what they may be named after rather than the colours. We did see the ocean in the trailer so you never know!

Well, I guess we have our cover legendaries then!

Wait, hang on...

Bugger! Would they really do a second whale legendary?

Ruby is a gemstone.

And why is the gemstone named so?

So what you're saying is that the Gen 4 games need to be renamed White & Pink?
