TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Switch, PS4, Xbox, PC)

Recommended Posts

Is this fun on your own? It seems like online is really good fun but I don't play online and don't subscribe to the service. Can't figure it out from the comments in this thread.

Sale ended, though, so will probably pick it up next time it's on sale.

Naturally, you lose the insanity multiplayer provides, but even on your own. It's a solid beat em up.

Be warned though, some achievements reuire multiplayer, but you can always do local multiplayer for those.

I've been playing through the PS5 version on and off last week and completed it yesterday afternoon.

The picture is perfect. Mikey looks as happy with the platinum trophy as what I was. :D

I've nothing new to say about the game that I didn't say when I originally played it a few months ago. It's a game so nice I bought and platinumed it twice. Fantastic game and it's still in the running for my GOTY. Love it.

What are some other candidates? :D

I still come back and replay random levels of this game because of how much fun it is. It’s actually spoiled me for when I went back to play older TMNT games in Cowabunga collection as the little QoL touches this game has make the older games less enjoyable to me now.

I am still hoping they add some new content to this game at some point.

I picked this up and played a few levels with a friend. It hasn't really clicked for me and besides being awesome to look at and listen to, I haven't found it much fun to actually play, especially not on my own. Maybe I'm just not that into beat em ups.

Another day, another patch for a Turtles game.

Quote
  • NEW FEATURES

Gameplay

  • A new Arcade mode is here: Custom Game! Just like an actual arcade machine: customize your game experience using DIP switches: free play, old-school Super Attacks, faster enemies, no more taunts, and many more! You can see the customization in the lobbies of Custom Games. Achievements’ progression and unlocking is disabled in Custom Games.

Online

  • In the Character Select menu, the host can now set a maximum number of players for the lobby.

Graphics

  • Added come awesome filters: CRT (normal or curved) and VCR! Check them out in the Options menu.

FIXES

Gameplay

  • Fixed rare crash in Arcade mode when changing difficulty.
  • Cars can no longer deal massive damage when the player is considered Armored (for example: charging a Heavy Swing).
  • Fixed bosses sometimes unable to reach a player positioned at the very top or bottom of the stage.
  • Fixed bosses sometimes frozen after being hit by Raphael's Super Flying Attack.
  • Fixed Score not kept for player when switching character after a continue.
  • Fixed April's Super Flying Attack sometimes seemingly reviving KO'ed enemies.
  • Fixed reviving a KO player near the transition point (for example: escalators in the Crystal Palace Mall) that would sometimes prevent progression.
  • Fixed updating the timer for special statuses (for example: Infinite Ninja Power) when KO or in a cutscene.

Online

  • Guest players can now rejoin the same hosted game.

Input

  • Fixed input not correctly assessed when selecting between Backflip or Roundoff when turning around.

Menus

  • Fixed rare soft lock occurring in the World Map if the user completed Stage 8 after finishing Stage 10.

IMPROVEMENTS

Gameplay

  • Taunt now only fills up the first Ninja Power bar.
  • We no longer clear fully accumulated Ninja Power bars when KO on Chill difficulty.
  • Doing a throw now grants the player invulnerability.
  • Added more feedback in the HUD when trying to do a Super Attack without enough Ninja Power.
  • Many small animation tweaks were made to all bosses, often to make attacks easier to read.
  • Fixed Dirtbag’s dig holes collision detection that was too wide and deep.
  • Reduced the number of enemies spawned in Zorax’s stampede and the frequency of stampedes. Zorax also has a bit less health when facing multiple players.
  • Rat King now does Pied Piper less frequently.
  • Improved the Super Shredder fight in many small ways for a smoother pacing and tweaked some damage values. His grab is now used more frequently and is more efficient, though. Bummer dude!
  • Improved Statue of Tyranny pacing and tweaked some damage values.
  • Mother Mouser has a new bite animation to differentiate the charge bite from the idle bite, to give players time to react.
  • Mouser Model 3 and Mother Mouser are now acting a bit faster.
  • Radical Mode damage multiplier is now applied to all throws, Super Dive Attack, and charged Heavy Swing.
  • Fixed players sometimes falling outside of the screen repeatedly when respawning, at specific locations.

Online

  • Added a Refresh button to the lobby search list.
  • We improved the way the Arcade score is calculated: we now record each player individually, even if they leave the game.

Localization

  • Corrected or improved a few strings in Spanish, French and German.

Menus

  • The game will remember if How To Play was seen before, separately in Story and Arcade modes as they differ.
  • Improved the prompt to reset your story and character progress.
  • Pause menu in Arcade mode now shows the total playtime.

Sounds like one of the best games of the year just got better.

  • Thanks 1

The custom arcade is quite extensive. Lots of options there. Might be fun to get another N-E playthrough of that going.

I'm up for another go, since last time I got disconnected at the last boss fight and couldn't seem to get back in.

I've not had a chance to update my copy yet but someone listed details of the dipswitch changes:

Quote

FREE PLAY: Play as long as you like, without Game Over screens
RADICAL NINJA: Use Radical Mode and up to 3 Ninja Power bars
DOPPLEGANGERS: Multiple people can choose the same character
FOCUSED FIGHTER: Retain your Ninja Power when you take damage.
OLD-SCHOOL SUPER: Super Attacks now cost health instead of Ninja Power.
RESPECTFUL REPTILE: Taunts cannot be used!
REVIVE NO MORE: Reviving KO'd players is now impossible.
FASTER FOOT: Enemies now move faster.
BLASTING BADDIES: Most enemies now explode when defeated.
FIERCER FOOT: Enemies now have more health.
AGGRO ADVERSARIES: Enemies attack more often, dealing more damage.

Names one.

Ah'mazin

Yeah, there's defo at least 1 more. They kept Casey secret until launch, so I imagine a similar unlockable thing going on here.

I love the colours on that second screenshot (or rather the first screenshot after the video), but I can't put my finger on what they've done with it.

Geez, all of those screenshots are just beautiful. They didn't have to take it so far, but I'm glad they did.

Yeah i love the way this game looks and the DLC looks as though they've done a bunch of cool things for each dimension you warp to. By the way, the DLC will be £6.99 (there is a page for it on the eshop now but you can't purchase it yet). Some more screens to drool over:

The DLC is up on the store now for £6.29 (it should be £6.99 but there’s a 10% discount for the next 13 days).
