Whole reason I went, easily my favorite band. My friend sent me a text asking if I wanted a ticket because her brother bought some. We were center aisle 2nd row (for only $155!!), couldn’t turn it down. Also the Fox Theater is a beautiful building with wonderful seating.

I remember when I seen them and they started playing hurt... The woman in front of me asked to her (I assume) partner "why is he playing a Johnny Cash song?" ...

I was like "you serious Bro? "

Annoyingly, I can't think of any obvious bands for those final few letters. We almost saw The Vaccines at Glastonbury, but didn't make it to the area on time, so that would've counted. Missed out on The XX, too. Haven't seen Radiohead  or the YeahYeahYeahs, which is a huge regret, so they would've been in there, too.

Hmm I barely see bands live and yet somehow three of them begin with W. That's not fair.

Just going for the first ones that pop into my head. But I'm quite a fanatic concert and festival visitor. Mostly metalbands (I tried to keep the number of obscure metalbands in the list to a minimum :P) but I've visited a bunch of pop/rock festivals with the misses as well. Last years I shifted mostly from festivals to clubshows but I try to at least visit a bunch every year! Do livestreams count by the way in the Covid day and age? :p

Missing just two, but that can also just be my memory failing me! Anyway cool topic idea @soag, and a good taste in music too!

A = Amy Macdonald

B = Bad Religion

C = The Cure

D = Devin Townsend Project

E = Editors

F = Flogging Molly

G = Ghost

H = Hexvessel

I = Iron Maiden!

J = Jack Johnson

K = Kaiser Chiefs

Q = Queens of the Stone Age

R = Rammstein

S = Snow Patrol

I'll try but:

  • I'm not a big concert goer in general
  • I never made a list, and I have a shit memory
  • There's only one concert that counts as a big one (and it stands out only a tiny bit)
  • I'm not including DJ sets
  • Some are very small Dutch artists which you'll have never heard of anyway, but I guess I'll just include them

So I'm not sure if I see the point of specifically going for a "full alphabet" (I don't go to a lot of them, but even I have "duplicates". To illustrate how shit my memory is: I went looking through my ticket stubs, seeing if I could find any, and I did find one. Name was familiar.. because I added her to my spotify playlist recently. Had no memory of actually seeing her live a few years ago. But I have proof, so I'm inccluding her, I'm not including Sharon Jones & the Dapkings and Charles Bradley, as while I'm pretty sure I've seen them, I'm not 100% sure. That said, despite not being a big concert goer, I used to go to a big "jazz" (& pop, R&B, soul, funk, etc) festival every year, so I've seen a few big names there, while not always coming for one band / artist in particular. Furthermore, I used to work for a cinema as a volunteer, but it was also a jazz podium. I've seen a lot of artists that way, but for some that was because it was simply my shift.

Anyway, here's the list I definitely do remember (and I'll do it a bit differently).

A

Alicia Keys

Angie Stone

B

Blackpink

C

Candy Dulfer

Chic & Nile Rodgers

D

Diana Krall

M

O

P

Q

R

I've only been to see one band live specifically (The Fratellis), but I have been to Glastonbury a couple of times so that will help pad out the list a bit...

A - Arcade Fire
B - (The) Black Keys
C
D - Dolly Parton
E - Ed Sheeran, Elbow,
F - (The) Fratellis, Florence + The Machine
G -
H -
I - Imagine Dragons
J - Jurassic Five
K - Kaiser Chiefs, Kodaline
L -
M - MGMT, Manic Street Preachers, Mark Ronson
N -
O -
P - Pixies
Q -
R - Rudimental
S -
T -
U -
V -
W -
X -
Y -
Z

Thought it would have been more :/

Honestly only remember a few of them - had to look up set listings to actually remember who I saw! My second time at Glasto was 2015 when Foo Fighters were meant to be headlining, but Dave Grohl broke is leg and so had to pull out. That kinda soured my whole experience that year since Foos are one of my favourite bands, the weather was also shit and I slipped and twisted my knee quite badly - ended up leaving Sunday morning so missed out on a whole day!

@Happenstance, sorry. Gonna have to take that no-concert crown from you, because I've literally never gone to a live concert.

It probably says a lot about my taste in music when I have to say the closest I've gotten to a live concert is the Zelda Live Orchestra when it came to London.

Yeah the only other one I though I might have been able to put down was the London Philharmonic when I went to watch them perform a Star Wars concert 😂
