Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Maaan, just getting more of this:

Excites me in a way no grown man should ever be excited

I really hope we'll get some sort of Subspace Emissary type story mode again, so that we won't just get to have glorious newcomer introductions, but also some amazing cinematic footage in the game.

Some of the shots are just screaming to be made into a poster or painting or something:

It's just astounding how much Sakurai and co. manage to put in this franchise. I feel bad not having been able to purchase Smash WiiU, but I am all game for the Switch!

The bolded one is what I meant. That way, I'd be able to use that beauty with other Switch games.

Then again, if an adapter for genuine GC controllers already exists (I didn't know that was a thing!), then I'll probably get a few for my old controllers!

Just be careful of games that require the ZL Button. Because the GC controller can't do that.

I hope they carry on with the guest artist thing Smash 4 did for it's newcomers. There was some proper concentrated awesome there.

I always get a good laugh that Villager is on the evil side of the Bayo artwork.

Really excited for E3 now. I imagine that we will see another Smash Bros. Invitational just as we did the year Smash launched. Should make for some great viewing.

That is possibly who I want most in Smash, even though they've only ever appeared in one GREAT game...

Place your bets, is he talking about Diddy Kong Racing or Banjo-Kazooie?

(I still prefer Banjo-Tooie)

When it comes to Banjo in Smash, I'd want either N64 design Banjo or no Banjo at all.

I have a similar policy about Snake and his Voice Actor.

I forgot Banjo was in Diddy Kong Racing.. so TWO GREAT GAMES

If by some miraculous chance they appear in Smash, it definitely has to be the original N64 design!

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– On June 11-12 in Los Angeles, an invited group of players will gather to play Super Smash Bros., and qualified teams will compete in Splatoon 2, as Nintendo hosts an event featuring high-level gameplay on these two games for Nintendo Switch. This will be the first-ever exhibition tournament featuring the recently announced Super Smash Bros. game coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018. Additionally, this will be the first world championship for Splatoon 2 after the game’s launch. The gathering will be a celebration of fun for all ages, and will highlight Nintendo’s unique approach to competitive play. The event will be just one of Nintendo’s activities at the E3 video game trade show, which runs June 12-14 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Additional details about Nintendo’s E3 plans will be announced at a later time.

The event will showcase players from around the globe in the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 tournament for the newly announced Super Smash Bros. game coming to Nintendo Switch this year and the Splatoon 2 World Championship. The competitions will be livestreamed.

Prior to the Splatoon 2 World Championship, Nintendo will host U.S./Canada online qualifiers. The U.S./Canada qualifier will be the Splatoon 2 U.S./Canada Inkling Open 2018 hosted by Battlefy. Open qualifiers for teams of four ages 13 and up will take place on April 21 starting at 11 a.m. PT, and finals will take place on April 28 at 8 a.m. PT. Teams will compete in Turf War during the open qualifiers and in Ranked Battle modes during the finals. Players can learn more about the qualifiers at https://e3.nintendo.com/splatoon-2-inkling-open/. Players from around the world competed in their region’s qualifying events for a spot at the Splatoon 2 World Championship, and those in Japan (Splatoon Koshien 2018), Europe (Splatoon European Championship) and Australia (AUNZ Splatoon Cup) should check information from their local regions regarding these qualifiers.

“Nintendo always takes an original approach to video game competitions, and the portability of Nintendo Switch enables unique gameplay possibilities,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We’re looking forward to watching some of the best players in the world test their skills against each other in these two uniquely competitive games.”

For additional details about the Nintendo Switch event, visit https://e3.nintendo.com. Visit https://battlefy.com/splatoon2 to register for the Splatoon 2 U.S./Canada qualifiers. More details about the Los Angeles event will be announced in the future.

Then it’s either a mobile phone issue or my IP is banned on smashboards without ever visiting that site. What’s the topic or news item about?

I wonder if they will be playing with items on? I'd rather they don't so we can see some high level play. Maybe have a round with and a round without?

For the Wii U tournament, they played with items on up until the final (and i think even in the semi-finals they were set to low).

Interesting mix of players to invite (four from the Melee scene, four from Smash 4). The fact that they are inviting Mango implies that Sakurai is confident in the game attracting Melee fans. Could this game be a return to the fast paced Melee?
