Just bought Picross S for a fiver.

A great game to play while listening to music/podcasts/audio books/porn.

Be careful, lest you gain a Picross fetish.

Nice little improvement to the eShop. Hovering over game icons cycles through screenshots so you can see what a game is like without having to click onto it.

That... is actually a useful feature, so many games on the eShop I'll be looking at and I'll be thinking...

''Can't tell if probably shovelware or not..."

*hovers over the game icon*

"Yep..." *sigh* "probably..."

Onto the next one... :p

It happens quite a lot, where you'll get a really nice title screen or game icon image which makes the game look perhaps better than it possibly is and then you look at the screenshots and... it's nowhere near what you were expecting it to be from the main image. ::shrug:

Of course, it can work the other way... I've seen some games with a game image or icon which... doesn't exactly sell the game and then you look at the screenshots/video and the description which then shows a pretty decent game or what looks to be at first glance. :)

Anyway, I'm glad that this new feature is there on the eShop, I'll certainly be using it. :peace:

Eh. I find it pointless. Clicking the game is faster. Plus it's annoying if you want to stare at the page as a whole. Now you have to move your cursor to the menu to stop the switching.

Journey to the Savage Planet was rumoured a few weeks ago and today it hit Switch eShop with no prior announcement:

It's a game I've been looking at, might give it a go at some point, though I think The Outer Worlds will be my next new game.

The 2K games are now available and it looks like they can all be purchased individually for a fairly good price.

The collections themselves are all under the standard "full-price" of regular Switch games, so fair play to 2K for not leeching of Switch owners for old games.

Yeah, I'm surprised that they haven't charged more for some of the games (though Borderlands 1 is £24.99 so there is that as an example but at least it's in parity with the pricing of the game on the other platforms). Very tempted to pick up Bioshock Infinite at £15.99, though I don't have space in my SD card now with having bought the Borderlands collection and I've got Xenoblade on the way. Must not spend more money on games...

I've got Borderlands 1 installed (still shocked they didnt include all of the first game on the cart) and I'm currently downloading 2 and the Pre-Sequel. I might post some impressions later but from the quick go I had on 1, it runs well and looks good but that was always going to be the case as the first entry is the least demanding. The other two games will be the real test as I believe it's running at 30fps in 1 and I suspect that'll dip a bit with the later games, perhaps more so in handheld (which is how I'm playing and I have a Lite).

My only gripe from that brief stint was something I've thought for awhile and that it's the analogue sticks on the Switch aren't made for FPS titles as they're not precise enough. I imagine that would be less of a problem with Bioshock as theres less need to be accurate for critical hits but in Borderlands it makes things a bit stiff and less accurate, the same experience I had with the Metro Redux games. These are definitely games that would benefit from the Pro controller (or any other controller than the sticks on the Lite/Joycons).

@Ganepark32 I’d be interested to hear how Borderlands runs in local split screen mode. That’s how I’ll be playing most of it, if I pick it up. And whether you can play in local split screen and still take the game online?

Going by the info that 2K has released, it's only local splitscreen coop for 2 players and you can't carry that online. You can have up to 4 players in a party for online but each player needs to be playing on their own console, no splitscreen allowed there I'm afraid. I believe this was the same setup with the other console versions as well.

I won't be able to test splitscreen myself as I'm playing a Switch Lite and don't have additional controllers (though I imagine playing splitscreen using the Switch's screen would make things really difficult to see what's going on) so sorry there.

Oh wow, I didn't reaise you could buy the games individually! How much is Bioshock on its own? Quite tempted..

Not sure about the exact price in the UK/EU but I'm guessing it's around 14.99/16.99 going of the Russian prices.

Can anyone confirm?

Each of the Bioshock games are £15.99 each on the Switch eShop...

https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Search/Search-299117.html?q=bioshock&f=147394-86

The collection is £39.99, so you would save £7.97(?) by buying the collection as opposed to buying each game separately.

However, you are saving a lot more if there really is only one game out of the three which you wanted to own on the Switch and you just purchased that one.

I'd wait for a sale personally, if the collection had more of the game(s) stored on the game card though, I'd consider the physical version but not as it is.

If you don't have any storage space concerns with the memory on your Switch, buying just the one game you want to play out of the three isn't a bad idea.

Nintendo posts "The Download" video for May 2020

Seeing as May has been quite a month for game releases, I thought it would be a good time to start posting Nintendo's monthly "The Download" videos.

In the article, you'll also find links to all of the games, which go to the relevant Nintendo UK eShop page. (these are non-affiliate links)

Also, a brief update on any recent reviews which will be coming to the site soon. (only reviews which are past any embargo date)

Enjoy, and let us know if there's any upcoming game you'd like us to review, we'll do our best to cover what we can.

We've been quite busy on the reviews front over the past month or two (at least), there will be more reviews appearing on the site soon.

Atomicrops

content-2-36244-atomicropssidebox.jpg

Ladies and gents, I'm happy to announce that I have finally earned the green title under my name, for I have officially written my first review for N-Europe.com! It is Atomicrops, a recent indie game, released last Thursday (the 28th) on the Switch.

So, what's the game about? Well, it's a roguelike about farming, shooting, and scavenging after a nuclear apocalypse, and... just read the review, I promise it'll make sense.

(Especially you, @drahkon, this game should be right up your alley)

Yeah, had my eye on this one for a while. Sadly I have two games to play right now (Bug Fables and in two days Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition) so this will have to wait.

Will definitely get this sometime in the future, though.

Skelattack launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop

Skelattack is being produced and presumably published by Konami, it is developed by Ukuza and is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop right now, for the price of £15.99

Well, it might not be a new Castlevania game, but it's certainly a step-up from Pachinko machines... ;)

It's good to see Konami seemingly getting more involved with game development again, this is a step in the right direction hopefully.

Whether it's a quiet Sunday afternoon pleasure ride, or a thrill seeking plunge down night time precipices, Lonely Mountains: Downhill has you covered.

Check out the link for my review of a game that comes as close as possible to getting the feel of mountain biking just right.

Has anyone picked anything up during the current sale? Quite a lot of games are 80% off at the moment on there. @darksnowman might be interested to know Ghostbusters the Video game is on sale again for £11.99.

For once it's a nice sale. Way too much in it that I want to get but I shouldn't but I probably will :D

Wargroove
Risk of Rain 2
GRIS
Rayman Legends
Katana Zero

Kingdom Rush Frontiers
Ironcast
TumbleSeed

Gonna have to limit myself to a maximum of two, especially since I'm playing to (J)RPGs right now.

Man it feels like there's a sale on every month on the eShop, another great one, tons to pick up.

It's so easy just going through your wishlist and seeing the discounted games one by one :yay:

(Also, there's now a filter for searching games with a discount added)

I noticed Grid: Autosport is on sale at the moment, does anyone here have any experience with that game? I'm more into arcade style racing games so I'm wary of investing in a more simulation based game but I am really tempted to pick this up. Is it quite heavy on the simulation or is it a bit more accessible than the likes of the F1 games?
