Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)

Recommended Posts

New IP shown and played at the Nintendo Championship.

3-on-3 gane where you are in mechs and shoot a ball to score a goal. Think some kind of space soccer. :D

- When you score a goal, the goal gets smaller

- 3vs 3 played on NWC

- First team to 3 goals

- Use your laser to hit the ball back

- Cannot shoot laser constantly, have to manage your laser energy (power management)

- There are physics on the ball

- Arena also have verticality

- Your mech can be disabled and you are removed from the map

- Multiple mechs can be down at a time

Football?

Welp, that's me not going to want it one bit then. I don't even like Mario Strikers!

But hooray for new Ninty IP's!

It seems more of a mini-game as opposed to a fully fledged title. It does seem quite fun, but will need online multiplayer to stand any chance.

It looks like it's running off a custom version of the Metroid Prime Hunters engine.

Very similar in the first-person view. :heh:

Nice to see a new game though. :)

I was just thinking the same! It looks quite fun, let's just hope the online features are comprehensive and offer some industry standard featu- who am I kidding?

gotta be a cheap eshop title.

Blast Ball clearly running on the Hunters engine, with a Super Metroid elimination round to follow.

I hope this means what we all desperately hope it means.

It's gotta be NST surely!? It's basically Metroid Prime Hunters Football!

Please don't be our Metroid replacement. Please be a feint and it's a minigame in Hunters 2 or something.

It's its own game. It won't be a minigame in another game.

Really surprised that so many think this.

I get the impression that this may be another small F2P title.

Same. As long as it's handled like Steel Diver Sub Wars and not Pokemon Shuffle/Rumble World though, I'm in.

Looks like good fun! :)

Like I mentioned in the chat yesterday, at first I thought it looked awful, but it did grow on me, could be fun. Obviously depends on what the whole package is!

It looks a bit basic and underwhelming at the moment, but if it ends up with a bit more to it and/or at a decent price point it could be one to keep an eye on at least. It better have a lot more to it if it's a full retail game rather than a cheap eShop one, though.

Nintendo board meeting: FPS + SOCCER + MECHS = ¥$€£

Gaming population: is it Metroid?

Looks slow and clunky. And the arena seems to be too small...

Not for me. :(

They were being coy about it again on Treehouse. I saw someone have a theory about it being just one minigame in a Nintendo Land-like collection for 3DS, what with the Mii-like diminutive characters.

But Treehouse starts after the Direct tomorrow, doesn't it? What did you watch?

Oh it was just one of the Treehouse team on Geoff Keighley's Youtube show actually. Shortly after the MS conference. Had a bit of Yoshi and Chibi Robo too

*Cough*

... and it was worse than any of us could have imagined.
