Can somebody tell me what Bloodtinge, Arcane and Skill do, please? I'm guessing Arcane helps you discover better/more items through discovery, but I'm at a loss with Bloodtinge and Skill.

Loving this now. Spent about 3 hours, maybe more, on this last night. I'm in Old Yharnam and am trying to figure out what to do.

I've seen the hunter on the roof and tried taking him on in combat before realising that he is hard to beat AND can heal himself. I thought fuck that and just carried on going through the level (not climbing the ladder to meet him) and went through a series of areas where I think I found ANOTHER hunter. Between the two, there's a massive, massive open room with a dead beast that's dangling from the ceiling. I take it that you go through that room and out the other side...which takes you into the area with the second hunter/with the first hunting still shooting from the roof. I'm going to have another go at it later and just have a little wander and see what I can find there. That second hunter is making it difficult, however.

Not yet, been to engrossed in the main game, will check them out soon. You getting any decent rewards from them?

Not yet, "only" upgrade materials, gem stones and some stuff for Chalice Dungeon rituals.

These are my assumptions:

Bloodtinge increases damage you deal with Quick Silver bullets, i.e. guns.

Arcane increases Arcane damage (duh). Won't say any more to avoid spoilers.

They are both also used to equip weapons with the corresponding requirements. Same goes for Skill. Not sure if it does anything else besides that.

Also: There are weapon scalings for the stats.

E.g.: Strength - C; Skill - D; Bloodtinge - E...etc.

S is best (I assume, haven't seen this one yet in Bloodborne. It has been the best in the other Souls games), E is worst.

The better the letter, the better the scaling obviously. Meaning: Strength - A results in higher physical damage the more strength you have.

Does Arcane also help with item discovery, though?

Cheers for all of that. I tried the cleaver yesterday for the first time and liked what I saw. Also got the Blunderbuss. Seems to be a great combination.

Not sure, even though I've upgraded Arcane to 10 I haven't paid attention to what exactly changes.

If Item Discovery increases with points spent into Arcane, then yes, it helps.

However, I don't know how useful Item Discovery is.

I'll check when I have enough Echoes to level up (if you check it yourself, feel free to tell me :p)

Edit: Yes, levelling up Arcane increases Item Discovery.

@Shorty summed this boss up perfectly!

Oh yes, he was right. Rom is a dick. But with enough patience he's actually quite easy.

Now that he's dead I fear that the game has become a lot more difficult :D

I flattened Rom when I went back to him after doing the Nightmare Frontier. Sometimes you can definitely reach a boss well under-levelled.

Click R3 on the stat screens for more info on them, BTW.

Halfway through my NG+ run - is there a particular Chalice Dungeon for farming Blood Stone Chunks? Trying to fortify the Burial Blade.

Found my first Oath/Covenant yesterday, involved a pretty tough fight but was worth it as it gave me access to some awesome gear!

4th blue Rune slot.

Blade of Mercy, trick weapon is dual wielding blades!

Crow feather set.

Hunter of Hunters Rune.

Grrrr. Finally cleared the central bit, thought there would be another dream lamp but no. Then I'm getting chased by a dude with a cleaver, 2 dogs, 3 villagers.... Had to run back and go into the dream. I feel like I'm getting no where :/

Not sure as I'm still very early with Chalice Dungeons, but you can check reddit for a list of Chalice Glyphs which create dungeons that include a lot of items/gear.

Edit: Beat two bosses from (I assume) optional areas : peace: Haven't fully explored them, yet, though. However, the Chalice Dungeons take up most of my playtime.

Finished a couple of the "storyline dungeons" and I think I'm close to getting that one item which makes Chalice Co-op/Invasions easier.

I think I did the first chalice dungeon. I got to the end of the third level and the boss was that flaming dog that was in all the E3 videos. That sounds about right?

Not too certain how to get the second one.

Also, just found the cannon. MWAHAHAHAAA!!

Just finished off Darkbeast Paarl. Can't believe the coolest boss fight in the whole game is optional.

After a few days of not playing I come back to take on the Cleric Beast for the first time and it was a piece of piss. I'll be humbled shortly though lol.

Having trouble summoning a mate in Chalice Dungeons. :blank:

He can summon me just fine, but whenever I'll ring the beckoning bell and its chime gets discovered by him he won't connect. It's annyoing.

Maybe it has to do with the internet at my mom's place...I'll be at my place again from tomorrow onwards. Hopefully it'll work then...

Anyway, reached the layer 3 boss of another storyline Chalice Dungeon. I think that I'll get that item afterwards.

However, I'm just too dumb to beat the boss. He's not that difficult but I cannot for the love of God evade two of his attacks and this always results in death.

I got to another boss just now.

Blood starved beast. For my first go at him, I took off half of his health, which isn't bad going!,

I beat him earlier after a few tries.

The first part is pretty simple to dodge and attack. It's the bit where he's spewing poison everywhere that's tough. You really have to balance taking antidote and healing all while dealing some damage. I'd highly recommend buying the Gascoigne gear from the insight shop, as the poison resistance is high.

Had one go at Vicar Amelia. I Died.:heh:

I bought the gear, which helped a lot! Aw fuck, I just tried again and came SO CLOSE...he had centimetres of health remaining. 30 more seconds and I would have had him. Gah. I know what to do now and think I may get him next time. I used all my blood vials so that made the final minute quite tough. Literally shaking after that, I thought I had him!

I want to love the game, the atmosphere is fantastic and it really keeps you on edge. I just can't get anywhere, made it to the werewolf bridge, snuck underneath but fell into the rats and got raped. Ugh. So tempted to trade it in, I guess I'm just a "casual" gamer now :(

I'm curious, what type of games do you like? You've bought a load over the past month or so and it seems like you haven't enjoyed any of them.

I still play FIFA, I enjoy minecraft. The last game I finished was Mordor, I liked GTA V, Watchdogs, Dragonage, Tombraider... Loved gears of war and finished COD but that's got a little short lately.

Bloodborne feels great but I hate getting so frustrated at not progressing, I mean... 4 hours in and Iv upgraded 1 weapon and "cleared" one area to have to do it all again!

I didn't like drive club, alien, dying light or evolve. Ooooo and I loved rouge legacy..

Took a break from the main game and did some Chalice Dungeons yesterday, completed 3, quite addictive and I got a Chalice boss armour set become available at the insight messengers which was pretty cool. Need some more ritual materials now.

Any advice for a fellow hunter. Paarl just fed me my spine.

I didn't realise Bloodborne had hardcore porn action in it until now....

In other news, if you love Bloodborne and haven't played Dark Souls 2 then I'd strongly recommend picking it up.

This new edition takes advantage of the next generation capabilities of the PlayStation 4, giving fans of the series and newcomers alike updated visuals, rebalanced gameplay, a higher maximum number of players for online play, new and deadlier enemies, a brand new NPC to discover, expanded lore and new in-game events. Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin game also has the Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King DLC already included as well. This is the ultimate version of Dark Souls II.

Its absolutely brilliant, came across a new enemy they added yesterday...
