Hidden Sonic 2 level now playable

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all.

Don't know if this is common knowledge but I'd never heard of it before until now!

Sonic 2 has been released on Android / iOS and SEGA have included a passage way to a hidden level that was scrapped from the original game way back when!

Hidden Palace Zone is now playable part way through the Mystic Cave level - on the bottom section of the stage when you reach the lever for the draw bridge - don't pull it down, just fall to your death! Only you wont fall to your death! Instead you will go straight to Hidden Palace Zone - new enemies and a boss fight with Robotnik awaits! : peace:

The vid below shows / explains properly!

Be interesting to see if Sega release the game on 3ds as part of their Sega Classics range and if they keep this in! I'd love them to as any previously unplayed Sonic stage from back in his heyday would be amazing!

Anyone downloaded this for iOS / Android? @Ike what about you?! If anyone is gonna download Sonic on a mobile device it'd be you! :heh:

You know me too well - I downloaded it as soon as it was available! Posted about in the mobile gaming thread but got no response.

Not had time to play it properly yet though so only made it to Casino Night. Super sneaky way they made the entrance to Hidden Palace though. Tried to play it through the stage select screen but it wouldn't let me. :(

Also special stage 3 is ridiculously hard.

It's a great update by Taxman once again.

Ah man :( I didn't even know there was a mobile gaming thread! But as I've said before, mobile gaming aint my bag  so that's prob why I've never searched / ventured there!

What a brilliant inclusion though! Part of me wants to download it on my phone just so I can get to this new stage! : peace:

Glad I looked here! I had no idea how the hell to get there haha

But yeah, apart from the lack of buttons, you've just got to love the digital editions the Taxman has worked on. Just a shame they wont release it on non-mobile platforms! I'd probably buy each version a second time if they did!

Yeah it seems like fixing the framerate has made some parts of the game much faster than I'm used to. It's not so much that the special stages are harder when they're faster, it's more that I've gotten used to doing them at the same speed for about 20 years and can't adjust :p

I bought this for Android then realised it was just released as an update to the iOS version that I've already had for years. D'oh. Make that the... 7th or 8th time I've bought this game!

Surely SEGA now have to include this in the inevitable 3D Classics version that will come out somewhere down the line on the 3DS? They certainly have enough time to do it anyway I'm sure. :)

I don't mind if it takes AGES... :p

Of course I bought it straight away.

I really need to look into getting controllers to work with Android tablet.

Never seems like something I would want to do. Games which need a controller I'd rather play on a proper sized screen.

Yeah, that's part of it. There's also the fact it throws a ring of bombs at you and you can't see it. And also Tails sucking. :p

The improved framerate threw me off in Sonic 1's special stages.

If you have a wired 360 controller, you just need to buy an OTG cable.

I have both! However my OTG cable came with tablet I got a while back when I didn't have a 360 controller and now I do I have no idea where the cable went in my move.

Spent 5 minutes trying to get the "Jackpot" achievement and guess who goes and gets a jackpot?

Miles. "Tails". Prower.

Thankfully it still counted, otherwise I would have been throw a fit of rage in the middle of the train.

That's a fantastic example of giving the fans what they want and a real treat. All those years of finding parts of Hidden Palace zone and the frustration that it was barely playable & now Sega have done this to add to a game that has been released multiple times is generous of them. An excellent secret this!
