Wii U General Discussion

Recommended Posts

if it was made well it wouldn't be too different to creating a pullblox stage.

They could make set scenario's, you just change skins/positions, to make the game more readily accessible to new comers, then as you start getting ideas of your own, use tools to craft your own scenarios from scratch

But would it be any fun/would it make a game that was any fun to play? I enjoy creative aspects to games but making my own pokemon game doesn't sound like it'd actually be much fun, too much work to create something worth playing.

Playing other people's could be fun though. Imagine not knowing what Pokémon would be on each route, what each trainer would have and hell, if you're even at the right level to face them when you first see them.

Actually, Pokémon would be more fun if it was procedurally generated. Someone do that.

How long does it usually take for purchases to appear on Nintendo Network Premium? I bought NES Remix 1&2 yesterday and they've yet to appear, and I'm 28 points off of a code ;_;

It says they can take up to 24 hours but I'm not completely sure.

I'd completely forgotten about the premium points and just logged on to find myself £20. Shame there's nothing I want to buy :(

Really? There's loads of great stuff on the eshop. Especially if it's, in essence, free.

I've already bought most of it. Probably why I've got the twenty quid lol

My Wii U is fucked.

Was playing on MK8 on saturday night and when I finished I just switched it off without closing down the game first. I have the downloaded copy of MK but not the physical disc. When I came to putting it on the next day the console wouldn't even load up my NNID profile. It just keeps freezing and then a loud buzzing sound comes on.

Called Nintendo (they were playing Kokiri Forest tune whilst on hold, made me smile) and they have asked me to send it in. Also had the following conversation with them:

Rep: ahhhh I see you have used our service before. The GamePad was it? You put your fist through it didn't you?

Me: I dropped it.

Anyway no idea what the costs will be. I got all my stuff from the Post Office today so will send it them tomorrow.

Will be really gutted if all my saves and downloadable games have been erased.

That's bad man, sorry to hear that. Hope it can get sorted quickly.

Lol at that customer service conversation. I think you must have provided them with some giggles. You should've called them out on it.

"u 'avin a giggle, m8?"

System's not in warranty anymore, @Blade? That's super shit, you might still have saves though. Iirc correctly when my 3DS has been fixed my downloaded games and saves have been fine BUT anything tied into the actual system OS(ie fucking streetpass that takes forever to actually get) was erased. So you'll maybe lose your mii and settings, the mii might be re-obtainable by the NNID linking now though.

So Gamestop in Germany is having the following offer:

Trade in your Wii + 3 Wii games and get a Wii U Premium with Nintendoland for 160€.

Seeing as I haven't used my Wii in over a year and 160€ is pretty much the maximum price I'd pay for a Wii U (and I coincidentally have a check to cash in for 160€) I'm tempted.

Is the Wii U backwards compatible?

And what about eshop games? Transferable?

Not until they've found a way to make cloud saves fun or when quantum entanglement becomes the standard amongst competitors.

Yes and yes.

However, in order to transfer your WiiWare and VC games to the Wii U you will need to have your old Wii at hand.

The Wii U has a so-called Wii emulator built-in which allows you to play your Wii games on your TV or GamePad.

You can use your Wii game discs in that mode (they can't be used while using the Wii U system menu though).

Hm, kinda sucks. Makes it unnecessarily complicated. Ah well, I'll just trade in my mom's Wii (she doesn't have any eShop games), transfer the data from mine and she can use mine if she wants to (she hasn't used the Wii in years).

If I find the time on Friday I'll get the Wii U then. Thankfully I don't have to buy games as I can borrow them from a mate. If I had to buy them myself I'd probably pass on the console.

Now I can finally look forward to Smash Bros. :)

Drive Club. Here's a

of the weather tech they revealed last week (~37 seconds in). i'm super looking forward to it because it's pretty much the closest will ever get to another Project Gotham Racer...and it looks stunning. All the sun, clouds, atmospheric humidity, wind - and now weather - are all dynamically simulated so it's basically landscape/Earth porn. :hehe:

I won't say anymore since it's completely off topic but you should come check out the Drive Club thread on the Other Consoles board. It has more info and gifs. Everybody loves gifs.

I'd love to see somebody like Monster Games create a realistic racer for the WiiU, just to see how they'd do with it. They nailed ExciteTruck, one of my favourite ever racers. Maybe even a collaboration with Retro...hnnnnnggggg.

A bit of interesting information: I popped into ASDA earlier today and they've gone from selling no WiiU games to selling...two. Mario Kart and Just Dance. They were hidden amongst the other Wii games. One was at the top and the other was on the shelf below it, with Wii games interspersed. A bit of a strange one, as they haven't had any WiiU games in our ASDA for ages, as far as I know.

Progressssss.
