Daniel Craig Confirmed as Bond. Mendes confirmed as Director

Not much more to say,

2015 = Star Wars VII / Avengers 2 / Bond 24... Nice

I was hoping for a new Bond actor personally. Not always been totally sold on Craig, and wanted someone new to have a go.

Still, should be good!

I'm sort of with you there. Personally, I'm a bit gutted that Mendes is directing it again. Skyfall had a lot of issues for me and the pace of the film dropped off dramatically about halfway, 2/3rd of the way through.

Craig played his bit well, but so far (in my opinion) he's been in one good Bond film (Casino), one bad Bond film (Quantum) and one average (Skyfall). So, jury is out on that one.

Nice to see Daniel Craig get a second outing as James Bond. Skyfall was a brilliant reboot and set up things very nicely for the sequel.

(Casino Royal, while decent, was not a Bond film)

Casino Royal was just different and I really enjoyed it.

I also loved Skyfall. Definitely one of the best Bond films in recent times. Craig as Bond is great, really goes back to the classic Bond and completely away from the Brosnan style Bond (which I enjoyed too, but I'm glad he isn't just copying him).

As long as they write this into a Bond film one day, I'm not bothered.

Saw the first showing at my cinema this evening. Enjoyed it. Was good.

Pre credits sequence didn't really excite me at all.

Credits sequence nice apart from the awful song.

Like Skyfall, some really nice cinematography.

Really really enjoyed Ralph Fiennes as M. Judi Dench has played the character all my life so thought it'd be odd with someone else but his performance/character was really strong.

I've never quite felt that Daniel Craig was 'Bond' if you know what I mean, but I think I finally got into him as the character with this film. Some quite funny parts throughout the film.

I felt the violence didn't feel real enough - you could sort of tell they weren't really hitting each other, if you know what I mean. I'm sure previous films, even the more recent ones, had a bit more grit to them. Similarly, lack of sex.

With regards to some spoilers...

I like how they gave away that Obenhauser was Blofeld by showing the cat first.

The ending was written as a clear exit for Craig, the lyrics of the song also imply that it's the end for his Bond, but it's left ambiguous enough that he could return if he wants to do another.

Anyone who hasn't seen the film, I'd avoid the wikipedia page until you have as there are spoilers in clear view.

Would probably rank Casino Royale and Skyfall above this one, not sure about Quantum of Solace as I've only seen that once. It was enjoyable, not mind-blowing though. Definitely worth going to see though.

Dude. The pre-credit sequence was awesome!

Firstly, from the opening shot, to the point at which he points the gun at the window across the street - is one long shot. One! The camera doesn't cut away once! That means they have to plan a shot which includes flying down a Mexican street, to tracking Bond as he walks through a crowd, gets into a lift, follows him up the lift and into a room, then out the window and up across the rooftops, before finishing by zooming in behind him. That's incredible.

Add to that an awesome soundtrack, stylish costumes, and a pretty cool fight in a helicopter. I loved it.

Yeah I liked the long shot, that was very cool actually! I just found the helicopter bit underwhelming!

Finally got to see this last night, after weeks of My Girlfriend deciding it would be too busy to go

I liked it but i didn't love it, something didn't click

The speech at times was so muffled it was almost Bane levels of inaudiable

Parts of the plot seemed rushed and a little unexplained in places, or rather relied on you assuming we'd have bond eventually tell us what was going on

For example looking into Obenheimer before and after his death, why he recognised him and why money penny or anyone sles didn't ask "James how do you know this name/man" let alone why are you looking into him, its only when Q turns up randomly that he say's he's seen him and the watcher gets confirmation he must have known him - its almost like you are to assume the other Mi6 agents know his name from Bond's past, a man previously set up to not let anyone know of his past, Even M (although she knew all)

Its only in the films pre climax that its confirmed that he's his adopted brother

were we meant to be able to read the adoption letter and see the name or part of it? if we were it was a blink and miss it moment

The obvious homage to Oddjob was a little lame

The ending kind of ruined the more modern take on Bond for me, but did in a way explain the odd choices for things, it was very much a homage to the Roger Moore era, particualrily in the lots of random locations super fast, and his getting the girl ending - the problem for me was it kind of shits on the dark tone and unhappy endings of all the other Craig era bonds

I did like it but would rank it Skyfall>Casino Royal>Spectre>Quantum of Solace

I kind of hope Craig is replaced now, it felt like an end of his era and his recent statements on the brand and characterisation of Bond just have utterly turned me off him
