Wii U VC

Recommended Posts

I'm holding out for a Ogre Battle 64 re-release on the Virtual Console. I loved my N64 games, but this and Hybrid Heaven were two games I really wanted to play but passed me by somehow.

Oh, and although I doubt the licence exists with DNA / Rockstar, but a Spacestation Silicon Valley release would be fun to play!

If you can't wait for the Wii U VC release, that game is actually available on the Wii VC as a US import right now! (you can buy it from the Wii Shop Channel for 1,200 Wii points/£9 on the Wii Menu on your Wii U)

If it does ever get released on the Wii U VC proper, you'll get a heavy discount on the Wii U version if you already own the Wii VC version on the same console, so it won't be a total waste if you can't wait for god knows when or if they ever re-release it again :)

Oh wow! I just realised something!

Earthbound isn't the only game that has been released for the Wii U VC that wasn't originally released for the Wii VC...

Golf_Coverart.png

THIS was also never originally released for the Wii VC in any region, not even Japan!

Before the Wii U VC, its inclusion in Animal Crossing and in the eCard Classic NES series was the only time it had ever been re-released! Can't believe that I didn't even notice...

So it seems that Nintendo have already started delving into games that didn't get Wii VC releases, outside of Earthbound, and I didn't even realise it...

Maybe we'll get The Mysterious Murasame Castle before they finish getting through their un-re-released VC titles after all :)

Well! Looks like I'm getting a VC game this Halloween! :)

Hopefully it won't be the only game next week, but even if it was I'd still probably be happy.

That's one of the SNES VC games I wanted playable on the Gamepad the most! :D

Sadly, Super Castlevania IV is the only VC game coming to Europe this week. Though I can have it for 1,50€, I'll defnitely get it. Been a while since I have played a good ol' Castlevania.

No game listed this week...none for 3DS either.

I smell something

Bullshit perhaps?

Unless they're planning a special Virtual Console/eShop Nintendo Direct (with the launch of N64/GBA VC games) or a Super Mario 3D World Nintendo Direct (with a surprise SMB3 VC release after the video), then don't count on it happening.

They already did a bimonthly Nintendo Direct last month, so the timing doesn't match up here...

Not always bi-monthly.

We had one in January and another in February, for example. One in April and another in May, then E3 in June.

Last year we had one in very late October, a mini in November and another in very early December.

Those were all specialist ones that followed though (except for the last one you mentioned, which were indeed two major ones - but even then, they were two calendar months apart; if not technically more than a month and a few days).

They have never had two major internationally released Nintendo Directs, just one calendar month apart before (and Iwata mentioned before that he wants to stick with a bimonthly schedule for major ND's for the most part).

If we do get one, I bet it'll just be focused around the eShop (less likely) or it'll be one specifically for Super Mario 3D World (more likely).

Well we already know that SMB3 will be released on both the Wii U and 3DS VC's very soon...

...simultaneously.

Unified accounts system? Finally?

Now that would be something to celebrate. ;)

Yeah i thought the same when I heard that news, maybe not unified accounts precisely, but at least cross platform play. And Nintendo better retrospectively do that too!!

Yes it would, but that listing is only in the US right now... (also, Japan already has SMB3 on their 3DS VC, but not on Wii U; for what it's worth...)

This was said during the Q&A Investor Meeting

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201...console_lineup

In terms of taking greater advantage of our previous assets, I feel that there are two points to consider. As we first began to do on Wii, one method would be to release games for our previous consoles, such as Nintendo Entertainment System or Super Nintendo Entertainment System, on other Nintendo consoles as Virtual Console games.

While Wii U and Nintendo 3DS already offer Virtual Console software, I feel that we have not been able to take full advantage of our assets yet, so we would like to enrich our Virtual Console lineup.

As the ability to digitally offer our products has given us greater flexibility in offering new propositions to our consumers, we should naturally consider these possibilities in the future. The other point is, as you mentioned, whether we should release our games on smart devices. At the moment, however, we believe a more balanced approach would be to use our content to increase the value of our hardware as opposed to distributing it on smart devices, and therefore, we have no plans to release Nintendo content on smart devices.

I hope this isnt just lip service. The way the VC has been used has been nothing short of a joke and really its time Nintendo start giving us a whole lot more. The 3DS VC especially needs a serious shakeup. To have no SNES & GBA games still is criminal.

So the next release after iwata said they need to do more with the vc they release one game in us and nothing in america... I'm really beginning to lose touch with nintendo I think... Just don't get them any more and most of their decisions are plain preposterous.

Wow! Capcom's making up for lost time here! :o

That means that they have only 1 NES/SNES game left to re-re-release from the Wii VC before they start digging into their un-re-released catalogue! (Street Fighter Alpha 2 SNES).

I'll take Demon's Crest please, thank you very much! :D
