House of Cards (US version)

Recommended Posts

Just finished watching episode 2 (of 13) and I must say that I am very much enjoying it so far :D

Urquhart Underwood is a very different character than his British counterpart and not as likeable, but Spacey has played a great role so far in making him an endearing character :)

Zoe finds her feet faster than Matty and has more of her wits about her, but still has those same elements of inexperience that define her

It's strange how it feels faster paced than the original, despite being longer in terms of length. Feels like a long movie, rather than a TV series.

While it lacks some of the more subtle playful undertones, in favour of highlighting the darker side of the original story, it does a great job of adapting the original story and characters to match the US setting. It goes out of its way to not attempt to straight up replicate the original British TV version, but rather it takes elements of the original and uses them to craft an original take on the book - standing on its own two feet!

Really good stuff! One of the rare examples of a British to US adaptation that's actually not complete shite! :D

Anyone else here watching it?

1 and 1/2 episode, very impressed. Thank you, Netflix, keep it going.

I watched the pilot last night (weirdly Netflix really didn't want to find it, had to Google around to eventually get there).

Intriguing, think I'll watch a few more this weekend. Although one of those shows where I find it difficult to remember everyone's name.

I am enjoying it, but I'm finding differentiating between some of the characters confusing. White middle-aged men all look the same!

Same problem I had when I started working in Higher Education.

I'm really enjoying this. When Kevin Spacey is giving the eulogy in episode three, hysterical.

Unexpected ending...

Too lazy to go into detail.

The tv and stats (somewhat) nerd in me wants to know how this is doing for Netflix and the average watching length. It's an interesting experiment.

OMG, episode 4...The PS Vita product placement was amazing. As in, Kevin Spacey just switches into infomercial mode and then back to being a dick-head. So awkward.

The important thing is that the massive asshole of an imaginary character that Kevin Spacey portrays wants one.

The web browser game, e-mail client game and an empty PSN Store app...game.

Only the very best.
