Here's the top 20 games across Europe from Jan-Jun this year.

WOW @ The Last of Us being so high. As I mentioned this is just until June which means TLOU was only out 2 weeks! Who says new IPs don't sell? :D

NSMB2 had some good legs as well.

Top 10 Publisher

Software Market Share (Value)

01. (=) Electronic Arts - 17,25% (-2,14)

02. (↑) Nintendo - 11,82% (+0,50)

03. (↓) Activision Blizzard - 11,51% (-1,79)

04. (↑) Sony CEE - 8,78% (+2,37)

05. (↓) Ubisoft - 8,54% (+0,67)

06. (=) Take-Two Int. - 5,07% (+0,51)

07. (↑) Square Enix - 5,02% (k.v.m.)

08. (=) Namco Bandai - 4,22% (+0,60)

09. (↓) Microsoft - 4,11% (-0,18)

10. (↑) Warner Interact. - 2,77% (k.v.m.)

Nintendo must have quite a few games sitting just outside the top 20 to be sitting 2nd with just two games inside.

Not sure the source but apparently, between the four (Wii U, 360, PS3 and PC) it was separated as

45%/30%/24%/1% respectively

Pikmin 3 is at #39 and Wonderful 101 is at #40 in the all format full price chart

Definitely didn't know this just a few posts earlier :P

It's good to see, tbh I think it would have actually sold more on Wii U if it had come out on time, but that's just me. Will be more interesting to see how it fares across all of them in the longer run. There's still only so many Wii Us to buy Wii U games for.

I've still not played TLOU but that's very impressive! Where did you manage to source that from? Would be interested to see how things fare a little later on from the same source.

Madworld

Wonderful 101

Maybe Platinum Games on a Nintendo console don't mix? I mean all the other titles on that list are new IPs as well ( apart from MGSR) yet they managed to do better than both these titles.

If you juxtapose those two - W101 actually did remarkably! I think(as I said elsewhere) there's a loss of focus with Wii and then Wii U. Madworld - probably would do quite well on the Wii U if it were being released for it now. The Wii, and most owners, just weren't into something like that or didn't know about it. As for W101, imagine how many LESS Wii U's there are than Wiis for Madworld, and it's equalled the sales there.

This is why I think the Wii U needs a cut - the console needs to be in front of more gamers and then more games will get sold. £200 premium standard, it'll sell(like it has here) and the game numbers will follow.

EDIT: Hmm...not sure why my browser took me to an older post in the thread than expected!

This is a hilarious little read; George Clooney ripping into Daniel Loeb, the hedge fund manager who wants to dismantle Sony and sell off all its parts.

George Clooney To Hedge Fund Honcho Daniel Loeb: Stop Spreading Fear At Sony

George Clooney hangs a photo of himself as Batman, as a warning

I’ve been reading a lot about Daniel Loeb, a hedge fund guy who describes himself as an activist but who knows nothing about our business, and he is looking to take scalps at Sony because two movies in a row underperformed? When does the clock stop and start for him at Sony? Why didn’t he include Skyfall, the 007 movie that grossed a billion dollars, or Zero Dark Thirty or Django Unchained? And what about the rest of a year that includes Elysium, Captain Phillips, American Hustle and The Monuments Men? You can’t cherry pick a small time period and point to two films that didn’t do great. It makes me crazy. Fortunately, this business is run by people who understand that the movie business ebbs and flows and the good news is they are ignoring his calls to spin off the entertainment assets. How any hedge fund guy can call for responsibility is beyond me, because if you look at those guys, there is no conscience at work. It is a business that is only about creating wealth, where when they fail, they get bailed out and where nobody gets fired. A guy from a hedge fund entity is the single least qualified person to be making these kinds of judgments, and he is dangerous to our industry.

Japan: Wii U Sales Plummet Under 7K, 3DS Remains Best-Seller

This week’s Media Create sales are now in from Japan, and it’s a poor week for the Wii U. It’s the first week since mid-June that we’ve seen Nintendo’s home console plummet under 7,000 sales. The Wii U sold just 6,741 this week prior to last week’s 7,030, but with The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD edition on its way later this month, we can only hope sales will start to gain momentum again. In terms of software, PlayStation 3 Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle takes the top spot, with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn closely following. Previous number one 3DS title Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life rounds up the top 5, with four other 3DS games following. Get the full sales chart below.

All we can hope for the Vita is that it will start to see a boost when the PS4 comes out. Ive really been enjoying my Vita lately so I need it to start doing better!

That's not going to happen. People aint buying a PS4 accessory. It needs major titles and Sony A teams on it but they are busy with PS4 so as long as its just getting cute indie ports it will continue to tank everywhere.

3DS got a great bump with no new releases. MH4 hype happening already?

Wii U sales are shocking as per usual. Pikmin 3 and W101 didnt do much for the console. W101 is going to struggle to sell the 30k shipment which is just horrific. Whats next? Zelda. Zelda isnt even that popular in Japan is it. Not compared to the US anyway.

Vita slowly crawling back to those bad bad sales we have seen in the past.

A ten year old Zelda game, to be precise.

I'd imagine Zelda will have a similar launch to Pikmin 3 (around 100K) with Wii U sales picking up (20k) for a couple of weeks then back to normal until the next big release.

I still think a large majority of the consoles to be sold by these games have already been so. Not going to be at all suprised if there isn't a huge jump, or even uptake, of Zelda Wii U.

Not sure the majority but at the same time not really certain things will change that much as I just think the console isnt a product people want. Kids no doubt are looking at the new Xbox and PS4 and telling mum and dad that's what they want as well as Pokeman 3DS.

I dont think there are masses of people all desperate to jump in but have been waiting for a price cut and Zelda Wind Waker.

First day sellthrough in Japan:

[PS3] [360] Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist - 50%

[WIU] Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist - 3-5%

Another 3rd party game on the Wii U seriously tanking. I wonder what the shipment was, would of been way lower than the PS3 version I assume yet still only manages to shit 3 – 5% on day 1.

BBC wrote up an article about the current impact Minecraft is having on children. It's a tad brief but does give an interesting insight to what's going on. It's also being used as as a teaching aid in some schools too.

dunno why nintendo do not money hat it for Wii U and 3DS.

There current model of courting 3rd parties is clearly not working!

Thanks, I quite enjoyed that. Almost nice to see video games getting a positive light in the media for once! It does make some interesting points though, the comparison to a modern-day lego feels apt, along with the mentioned aspects of interaction, socialising, learning and creating.

So Wii U has finally just gotten a significant 3rd party exclusive game announced for it, the new Taiko Drum Master game!

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=674797

The series has consistently pushed about 500k per entry (yes, even the one released for Wii last year - they're slow burners, but they stick around!)

Nintendo were smart to keep support for Wii controllers going! This is easily the biggest Wii U 3rd party title since MH3U and should be a significant addition to their holiday arsenal! :D

Now if only we could get it localised... I have the Wii games and they're mad fun!
