General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Recommended Posts

I started it yesterday after downloading patch and noticed performance drops straight away.

Apparently thats actually performance drops in your own eyes and not the game itself.

...I'll admit though I've never been one to notice the framerate of games but that tends to be when its 30+, I usually notice when it drops below that and its causing issues.

The price will have certainly helped Splatoon sales.

I guess many people were like me and thought it was worth a punt at such a good price.

Also all over the likes of Comedy Central etc. and in cinemas.

Don't know about ITV/Channel 4/5, don't tend to watch them a lot, and if I do, I record what's on and fast forward through the ads!

I see it all the time during Simpsons and Futurama on Sky1

Splatoon gave the Wii U a 10k bump. Not amazing but you have to take what you can get when it comes to hardware sales in Japan.

Also the 4th highest first party Wii U game launch in Japan, and it is sold out everywhere. Nintendo only shipped ~150,000 units at first.

Did way better than I thought. Impressive.

A new IP selling well can only encourage Nintendo to do more.

A lot of them are smaller, digital games, though. Most of which have very little fanfare or presence amongst most gamers. This is the first time in a while a potentially big new IP has not only come from them but been given lots of backing, rather than just being sent out to die.

Splatoon is a true new ip. The eShop games are nowhere near as big. Splatoon is another big game, a Pikmin or Starfox, and it's fair to say we haven't had a BIG new ip from Nintendo since the Mii's bobbed their heads up for Wii Sports.

What about Xenoblade?

Oops, I was meant to delete my comment as HOT had already made my point :p I guess you're right with Xenoblade to a degree, but it still didn't have the same support from Nintendo, especially given how the U.S. release felt like pulling teeth

Agreed with the above comments that Splatoon is one of the few few new big budget character I.P's that Nintendo have released. Xenoblade, Pikmin and Animal Crossing are the only other main ones in the last 15 years, right?

Splatoon!!!! Only had three day's of sale's counted for may NPD and charted at number 5.

Nintendo must be very happy with this new IP resonating with the Wii U audience.

Driving games are dead in the USA. Wii U only sold 42k. No matter what Nintendo release the public just do not want to buy the machine.

Good that Wii U owners are supporting splatoon though.

I was looking for the Wii U version of LEGO Jurassic World in the charts. I see it doesn't come out until next month. :shakehead What can you say at this point? Probably should be grateful there is even a Wii U version coming.
