Insane numbers.

Sony has done a lot of things right with the PS4.

Really looking forward to their output at E3.

Incredible stuff from Sony, that daily sales breakdown is amazing.

Shows with the right product, the right marketing and giving gamers what they want, big numbers are still to be had in the industry!

Sony have ticked all the right boxes for me with the PS4 this generation. They didn't do with the PS3 so I gave it a miss, although I still played a fair few games on friends' machines.

Last gen it was the Wii & 360 for me. This gen it's the PS4 and the WiiU, although the WiiU just isn't cutting the mustard, I'm really disappointed in Nintendo as we go further into this generation.

PlayStation 4 passes 2m sales in UK

PlayStation 4 has now sold more than 2m consoles in the UK.

Sony's console has been on sale less than 18 months. To put that into context, it has reached the milestone faster than the mega-selling PS2 did in its lifetime (thanks, MCV).

Unsurprisingly, the console is also the fastest-selling console of 2015 so far.

Last week, Sony's latest financial report revealed a new life-to-date PS4 sales total of 22.3m consoles sold worldwide.

That translates to around 44.6k PS4s sold per day - every day - since launch (around one every two seconds).

Sony forecasts that it will shift another 16m consoles worldwide in the next year, too.

"Reaching the milestone of two million PlayStation 4 consoles in the UK in less than 18 months is an achievement we are very proud of," PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara said.

"To be the best selling 'next generation' console in Britain - installing faster even than the PlayStation 2 - is testament to an amazing and constantly improving product, the hard work of our trade partners and the team at PlayStation UK, and most importantly, the passion of the players. I would like to thank every one involved in helping us achieve this landmark."

According to VgChartz atm the WiiU has only just broken than in all of europe at 2.2million - compared to PS4's 8.2million for Europe. 20mil global! Xbone's sitting just over 12mil and WiiU just under 9.5mil. Anyone who can tell me it isn't failing in its current market must be deluded.

Good God! The Wii U still hasn't passed the 10 million mark. It will definitely be Nintendo's worst selling console ever.

Now, this is a big jump in sales, at least in Japan:

Hardware Sales

1. Wii U – 22,898 (7,210)

Also first 5 in software sales are Nintendo games.

I will let @Wii, or who ever usually posts about this to post all the numbers.

It was a good week for software sales on the Wii U but I was hoping for a larger number of consoles sold. Still, it's the first time in a long time where it's come out on top as the best selling console for the week. I wouldn't say Nintendo are overly disappointed with the total but neither would they be ecstatic.

in fairness up until recently Nintendo has been dominating the software chart in Japan for some time, mostly due to 3DS titles, but likes of Smash and MK have done big numbers. It's baffled me how few PS4 titles have been in the charts despite the console selling well.

Sorry to be a bit off topic here but I've been out of the gaming loop somewhat and couldnt help notice project cars in the charts. Isn't this meant to be on Wii U as well? Is it cancelled or delayed?

And impressive software numbers for nintendo in Japan this week but yeah, I'd have also expected more consoles shifted considering those games, especially Dragon Quest which is pretty huge over there.

The hardware situation over there is atrocious. It's no wonder that Japanese developers are wanting to switch to mobiles. I'm quite surprised how well the Vita is holding up against the New 3DS models.

Dat Playstation Plus! :D

What was once an optional subscription service is now a selling point in itself being that it's ridiculously good value for money with all of those free games. :)

I literally don't have enough room on my Vita for all of the Plus games and that's after upgrading the memory card.

19 of the top 20 are on Nintendo platforms. 5 Wii U games in there and yet the PS4 and Vita still outsells it? Are they buying games for these?

Probably different games, or better said more different games, while Nintendo owners usually have about 10 or more games which all owners will buy, plus a lot of free games for PS owners.

My nephew got a PS4 and bought one game - Wolfstein....., and everything else was free.

You have to remember the 3ds has already hit near saturation point.

Notes:

-"PlayStation continues to lead software sales for April 2015"

Hardware:

Xbox One: Best selling console. (Up 63% year over year)

Now that's a a surprise. The XB1 had no releases but still came out on top.

Surely the Halo 5 adverts couldn't of been the reason.

Still good to see XB1 winning a month. It's good if both platforms do well.

Xbox One - 187k

Wii U - 43k

3DS - 114k

Wii U sales really are dreadful. Let's see what spaltoon does for the platform.
