Fuck me! Just watched the end of season 2 of Chuck. That was fucking awesome!

 

That show knows how to do finales. And I believe in their five seasons on air, they had 7 of them!

 

Watched the season four one again myself recently. Good stuff!

I gave up on X Files a long long time ago....just restarted watching it and it still makes for fantastic compelling viewing. Whilst sure it's aged it stands up far more than the likes of Twin Peaks.

Been watching a LOT of Monk recently. Anyone else a fan? Probably my favourite TV show after Breaking Bad and Lost.

I was fine with it personally.

 

Yeah I wish they hadn't removed all of Sarah's memories, but the innate recognitions (such as the layout of the Weinerlicous and porn star) and ending seemed to suggest she'll get them back. I'm happy to live with that.

 

The final villain was kind of nothing, but I tend to forget him anyway as to me it's about the established characters.

Why oh why do we have to bring up the Chuck finale again...you guys know the hard time I've had with it all

 

She's attached to Chuck and whilst it may not be the same they will still live in love and be happy. I also hated the villain it would have made far more sense for one of the older villains to come back but alas either way when they erased Sarah's memories that scene was heart breaking.

They'll fall in love again,after a year or two Sarah will propose (they never got divorced, but she wants to do so to confirm their marriage), retire fully from spying and have kids.

Nothing on her twitter and she tends to keep that updated. She alluded that it might happen in a recent interview, but Levi said about a year ago (around the whole VM thing) that he was working towards it.

I just finished watching the boxset of Friday Night Lights - has anyone on here seen it?

 

For those who haven't, I massively recommend it - It isn't flashy in the way that Mad Men or Breaking Bad is, but it's a really incredible, nuanced study of small town life in America - based around a high school american football team (never watched american football in my life but got into it nonetheless), and centred around two amazing performances by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.

 

 

Anyway, thought I'd throw out a plug, best TV I've watched in a very long time, got that empty feeling now I've finished!

I remember JonSt watched it. I watched all the 'original' series then it was resurrected by another network and the cast altered superficially. I watched most of the first season of that but didn't get to follow it much more. Was something about the show that was endearing to watch.

Friday Night Lights is one of the best TV shows period. It never got the love it deserved. The beauty of the show was nothing to do with sport but the dynamic of kids growing up in a small town which was obsessed with American Football. Each character was completely different and added something unique to the show not to mention TV finest relationship, Coach T and Tami. Even the music was fucking awesome.

Finally got round to watching the first two episodes of Halt and Catch Fire.

 

Not bad. Slow burn kind of show (AMC after all). Get the feeling things are being planted for a later pay of.

 

Although every time I see the 80s on screen I get a sense of melancholy. There's just something so depressing about that decade.

New season of Orange is the New Black was great. Much better than the first, which I also enjoyed. I felt season one lulled a bit in the middle whereas this season didn't.

 

It's good a see a set of strong female characters.

Man, the season finale of Gravity Falls was amazing. Everything I could have wanted and more.

Saw in the ad that Ygritte from GoT was in it, but didn't realise it was in its second series. I'm catching up with S1 on 4oD, no signs of Ygritte so far but it's pretty fucking cool. Check it.

A high school show about American Football is probably a tough sell but it deserves more - watching back that railer a month or so after having finished gives me tingles. I'm not sure any hour of entertainment has moved me as much as the episode about Saracen's dad in the fourth season. Really beautiful.

What really adds to the show and that episode in particular is the wonderful use of Explosions in the Sky. You'd be hard pressed to find better music to fit such emotion.

Watched a few new/different things over the last month or so to try and break up my normal viewing habits.

 

After hearing a lot of good things about it, I tried out Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip but sadly I just couldn't get into it. Stopped watching with 6 episodes or something left of it. Just wasn't clicking with me in terms of the "drama" that was going on and just didn't like the characters at all, particularly Matthew Perry's. Personally, I'm glad 30 Rock got continued instead but maybe that's part of the problem I had watching it as I knew it had been dropped in favour of retaining that and with similar premises and 30 Rock being a comedy, I perhaps didn't go in with the right frame of mind. Maybe I'll give it another go further down the line but for now I felt it was a bit of a disappointment.

 

Then started Hannibal and absolutely loved it. Was a little worried that they were focusing a bit more on Will's character more but it made sense to have Hannibal more in the background so to speak to really drive home his character. And Mads Mikkelsen is superb in that role. He has the look about him but he just fits the role nicely and really plays it well I feel. Honestly don't think I could imagine anyone else in that role (and definitely can't see David Tennant in it after hearing he had auditioned for it). Quickly blitz through the 1st season of it and apart from Eddie Izzard's character and his awful accent (seriously, just speak in your normal, non-American accent!) I loved it particularly the ending. Really looking forward to getting stuck in with the 2nd season soon.

 

And I've recently started House of Cards but have so far only watched the first episode and I'm not sure what to make of it. Kevin Spacey's character grated with me a bit but it's only one episode and I need to sit down and watch more before I pass judgment as it's a little different from the kinds of things I tend to normally watch. We'll see anyway.
