Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (March 22nd)

Recommended Posts

So the game is now up for pre-order on Capcom's US site...

3DS

Wii U

But what's interesting is that the Wii U version comes with a free Classic Controller Pro! (the Wii one, not the new Pro Controller that looks like a 360 one)

So it seems that you can still use the CC Pro for Tri U! :D

When I saw the comparsion images, I wasn't sure which version was which. The Wii U clearly has more colorful graphics, but beyond that I couldn't tell much difference. I even thought that one of the underwater pics look better on the original Wii.

Seeing how I didn't get the Wii version, I might pick this up, but this really does not feel like a game for a next gen console.

Some bad news...

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/10/26/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-wont-let-you-play-on-the-wii-u-gamepad-screen/

We also asked if the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would support the option to play the game on the Wii U GamePad’s screen, rather than the television, and unfortunately, it will not. The Wii U version does, however, allow you to rearrange your UI on the GamePad, just like the bottom screen in the Nintendo 3DS version.

And some good news!

We got in touch with Capcom USA to ask if download quests will be made available for the western release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate as well, and the good news is that they will.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/31/monster-hunter-3-ultimate-and-the-hunting-party/

The Wii U's 1080p graphics offered lush environments with better use of lighting. You could see more vibrant separations between colors. Textures were more richly defined and I could see every fiber on the Zinogre's crystallized back. It also appeared that the game was running at a constant 60 frames per second, which the PR rep verified.

:D

BTW if anyone is wondering, the 3DS version runs at a variable 60FPS (in both 2D and S3D - the 3D has no impact on the framerate)

Now we just wait for whether there will be voice chat or not.

Who cares about that? I still want to know if I can play with my canadian and American friends this time.

I care!

I don't want to be playing Monster Hunter with a keyboard stuck on my lap again.

Surely they'll have an onscreen keyboard on the GamePads touch screen

But yeah confirmation of voice chat would be awesome.

But since other games like Black Ops 2 are doing it from launch I don't see why this wouldn't do it? Given how much the game requires teamwork voice chat would just enhance that.

Though with this game launching in Japan on the WiiU launch there and still no confirmed voice chat for there doesn't mean we won't get it...afterall on the Wii there was no voice chat in Japan but there was elsewhere. If Capcom were smart enough to see it was something they needed to add for the western markets once I can't see them dropping it in this version

Is it so hard to you know, use skype? Or would that require effort?

Why should we have to when every other console supports chat when playing online?

You just want to be able to turn your console on and be able to play and chat using said console. Not turn the console on and then have to use your phone/desktop/laptop just so you can talk.

That second commercial was brilliant! so too was that little dance at the end and using those different words for 'H' & 'D'.

btw, does "Hontoni Dekai" mean really big?

I never played a monster hunter game before, but i will pick this one up for the WII U, for sure :D.. love it.

Be prepared to sink countless hours into the game. To paraphrase Monty Burns...

Family, religion, friendship: these are the three demons you must slay if you wish to succeed in Monster Hunter. When a hunt is on, you don't want to be driving to a maternity hospital or sitting in some phony-baloney church. Or synagogue.

All I know is, when it's close to the release for this, I want to see Ironbeard McCullough return!

Also I want this. All over my face.

No Miiverse for MHU. :(

When Capcom was asked about Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate having Miiverse support, such as a community in the Miiverse, here's what Yuri L. Araujo, Associate Online/Community Specialist at Capcom U.S.A. had to say.

You guessed it: no plans at this time. But I got it - I will "bring it up around the office. Pester some folks. Call in a favor" for ya.

Miiverse interaction, especially a community, really makes a lot of sense for a game like Monster Hunter. Let's hope at the very least, we see the game get community support. Thanks to Brian for the heads up!

Eh? I thought ALL games were supposed to support MiiVerse? Or at least the big first/third party games.

Obviously I can see it being advantageous if they don't allow crap games to have MiiVerse support - like certain shovelware titles - but Monster Hunter 'needs' it surely? :hmm:

ALL games have their own miibverse board and such; it'll have that. They're talking about specific miiverse interaction in the same way mario and nintendoland do

It will come once they've got the Japan release over (which prolly won't have it...similar to the Wii game) and they start focusing on the Western release.

Once they've remembered why they added WiiSpeak support to MH3 on the Wii they'll go, oh yeah we should add it to the western versions of this too. Players will really appreciate it.

Then they'll release a video that will be the return of Ironbeard and he'll break the news of voice chat....while eating a MONSTER BURGER!!!!!!

Not surprised. It's a launch title for Japan and no 3rd party had access to Miiverse until the day it launched in the US, which makes sense since it wasn't ready until then (it's also why NSMBU and Nintendo Land needed Day-1 updates, since the dev units had no Miiverse support)

Not a big deal though. As long as I can still take screenshots and brag about my exploits on Miiverse itself, I'm happy :)
