jayseven Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Weekly Monthly Creative Challenge #1 - Eternal September Each month I will wrap and present to you some hopefully stimulating material from a range of mediums. Your task is to soak these in and see where your imagination takes you, and to provide a response for others to share in. This week month we have a song (and lyrics), a magazine story and a wiki-defined phrase. You can take them at face value as they appear on this page and work with their concepts, or delve deeper if you see fit. Whatever, man! Just write something! If you have any comments, queries or further thoughts about this then please discuss here. Any responses to be posted in reply to this, and please feel free to comment on each others... assuming we get multiple replies! Audio I keep hearin' you're concerned about my happiness But all that thought you're givin' me is conscience I guess If I was walkin' in your shoes, I wouldn't worry none While you 'n' your friends are worried about me I'm havin' lots of fun [Chorus:] Countin' flowers on the wall That don't bother me at all Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do Last night I dressed in tails, pretended I was on the town As long as I can dream it's hard to slow this swinger down So please don't give a thought to me, I'm really doin' fine You can always find me here, I'm havin' quite a time [Chorus:] Countin' flowers on the wall That don't bother me at all Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do It's good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete So I must go back to my room and make my day complete [Chorus:] Countin' flowers on the wall That don't bother me at all Playin' solitaire till dawn with a deck of fifty-one Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain Kangaroo Now don't tell me I've nothin' to do Don't tell me I've nothin' to do There are frequent fliers, and then there are people like these two. Both men bought tickets that gave them unlimited first-class travel for life on American Airlines. It was almost like owning a fleet of private jets.* Eternal September (also September that never ended) is the period beginning September 1993, a date from which it is believed by some that an endless influx of new users (newbies) has degraded standards of discourse and behavior on Usenet and the wider Internet.** * - http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may/05/business/la-fi-0506-golden-ticket-20120506 ** - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_September
