Assassin's Creed III

Who gets in the animus in Liberations? And how are they connected to Desmond if at all?

I'm pretty sure it's a descendant of the main character, who pays Abstergo to relive the memories of her ancestor. Something like that. Those extra animuses aren't just for multiplayer anymore!

Anyway, that thing Cube said about the reviews is funny when the two most positive reviews on Metacritic call it "as fully featured as any console game" and "another excellent console-style release", but I guess it's more fun to generalize. I really like this backhanded compliment from another review, though:

It's not the revolution we were hoping for, bit it's easily the best portable Creed fix yet.

The join or die edition is £50 in the GAME online sale.

I got that one at when I picked up my Wii U at the Game Midnight launch

Got this for Christmas. Absolute stunner of a game and full of variety (so far)...which feels better than AC 1/2.

Hopefully it keeps the variety up.

Also - another plus for off-screen play. Brilliant.

Just started this, still on the bloke who isn't Connor at the moment. Still having a few problems with the controls. Shooting is an absolute bitch, you have to be within a certain distance to shoot? The fuck!?

I finished the game and only used my gun once ;)

Are you reffering to that part where you have to use a weapon on the ground and shoot some barrels or something like that?

Because that was the only part in the game where I got stuck and had to start that mission over ;)

At the beginning with Hatham when you're escorting that chest back and you have to shoot the people on the roof.

Hmmm, don't seem to remember that part strangely enough

You have to get someone's chest back and on the way back you come under fire. The two NPC's cower behind a wagon whilst you have to take out the makeshift snipers.

I quite like Haytham. He's an assassin with class. I'm gonna miss him when I have to use Connor.

Ah, now I remember! I just assassinated those bandits the fun way :) No firearms for me, except for

ye ol' bow

:)

And true, Haytham is a more polished and interesting character than Connor. But in the end, I understand why they went this way ;)

Not much of a spoiler if you don't even know if he's going to die or not.

Connor being the main character has been known pretty much since they announced the game.

Really loving this game now. The vast woodlands feel like Skyrim in places and I love the boat segments. Having played all other AC's, delighted this is on Wii U.

I also think the homestead is a great break from the main story arc and just enjoy poaching in the woods and taking in the freedom the game offers.

The educational aspects of this game have also grabbed me as it is more relevant to British history so I've been fascinated by all of the content. Great game for off TV play too!

There's new DLC for the console and PC versions of this game coming out around now. Is the WiiU version getting any?

No news as of yet, although I'm sure Ubi have said it would come to all platforms.

spoiler ? i just started playing is that english dude gonna die :( ?

The stories of the characters from the past in AC don't end when they die, they end when they do the dirty, because that's the last part of the memory passed on through the genes. The fact you change character doesn't tell you anyone's going to die... although it does hint at something else......

Help me out here, guys... A buddy of mine is selling his copy of AC3 for a very tempting price, however... as much as I loved AC2, I gave up on Brotherhood 15 hours in due to how similar it was to AC2. I know Revelations is also very similar to 2, but what about AC3? Is there a clear difference/significant innovation or is this just more of the same?

You can hunt and there are naval missions, and obviously the setting is different, but the core gameplay is the same.

I think the setting makes this stand out more than the previous iterations. Probably depends on if you like the context of the game.

also- DLC confirmed.

I think the core gameplay is altered enough that people who played the rest of the games need a bit of time to get used to it, but not drastic enough that they don't know what to do.

I just finally started playing for real the other night, a friend gave away the massive spoiler about the guy you start as so its going to lose some of its effect on me now lol. Ive been playing it in stereoscopic 3D and it really adds to the game, when the storm hits the ship in the first bit of the game and the waves are crashing around as you climb the mast i genuinely had my heart thumping away as i progressed. A lot of the 3D is fairly subtle, things like the depth of field in the Aniums as its loads sequences is fun to watch but it does sting your eyes a bit each time it does that white flash between loads. Ive heard a lot of negative things about it but im still having a lot of fun, that said ive only just landed in the Americas so anything could happen between now and the end...
