Hehe, , smooth, reaaal smooth, but it got me thinking: How does one re-invent the platform genre and still be able to put it in said category? It is a question I really hope Miyamoto and pals are pondering, for 't is NINTENDO who, among other things, pioneered this genre, and Miyamoto was there (and still is) to watch it all go down. A good starting point could be fusing all sorts of platformer heroes into 1 platformer and see what happens when visions, ideas, gameplay mechanics, and visuals merge. Or....... maybe that already happened:

I like the direction Nintendo are taking with Skyward Sword. Seems like a natural progression for the series. They should have done something similar with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, as I particularly liked the upgrading system that they used for the Razor Sword in Majora's Mask. It's something that they should do more often in their games, as it gives more emphasis to try out the sidequests and it's just great for variation.
Hamishmash Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 3 brand new Nintendo franchises. Something like Wii Sports... something that really shows off the hardware and is accessible. Then something middling... a kids/family adventure game. And then a hardcore action game for older players.
