Paj!
Even though I was never as familar with his work as I feel I should be, and I'm not sure how many people here know about him, he was a very important figure for his spoken word/poetry/music/stuff. I only really know a few of his pieces, but his most famous is surely The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. Many people might be most familiar with his appearance on Kanye West's last album (Who Wil Survive in America). He was 62. Last year he had his last album remixed by Jamie from the XX. Heard it's very good but never listened.

dan-likes-trees
To be honest I only knew him through the Jamie XX remix album and via an LCD Soundsystem that mentions him, but still, the man clearly had talent, is a shame. RIP. EDIT: Always wondered who the Who Will Survive in America singer was (pretty obvs really) Edited May 28, 2011 by dan-likes-trees
Dan_Dare
Damn shame. I'm not that familiar with his work but I knew of him. And more to the point, he was only 62. Damn shame.
