Recommend me some films, bitches!

Recommended Posts

hey, i've only recently started to enjoy films a lot, and i was just wondering what classic films there are that i absolutely must see. any literature on the development of the industry would also be cool. my favourite films of late are i heart huckabees, lost in translation, 21 grams, garden state, waking life and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind if that's any help. i also enjoyed mean girls, miss congeniality 2 and big momma's house so don't be put off recommending me trash. thanks in advance

Rat race - is brilliant got a host of big names

brining down the house - queen latifa is great

the girl next door - a funny semi romantic film about a guy who falls inlove with a porn star is quiet good.

if you havent seen them the american pie films are a must.

i really enjoyed sweet home alabama as well.

A few films I always like to recommend:

Cypher - indy production, great actor (Jeremy Northam) in a spy society with brainwashing an such

Memento - a guys life moves backwards in episodes

Hero - nice playing with colors, very aesthetic fight movement

Equilibrium - seems a bit like "Brave New World" but steals the action sequences from Matrix

Batman Begins - that film is pure genius, the only film I watched twice in the cinema

Blair Witch Project, one of my favorites and a perfect example of innovation over special effects

I totally agree Blair Witch is one of the scariest movies I´ve ever seen. It loses some of its thrills on TV, though.

Other good horror movies are

- The Haunting (the old version)

- Uninvited

- Saw

cool runnings is brilliant! as are the blair witch and battle royale, i keep on forgetting to watch the pianist, even though we've had it in our house for about a year. the rock sounds good, i think i'll watch that too.

anyone seen the life aquatic or adaptation? my brother bought them last week, are they worth watching? i'm a huge fan of bill murray so i think i'll watch it whatever yuo say actually :heh:

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

Excellent film! I like my westerns mostly, and Tomb Stone is an excellent example of a Spagetti Western.

Christine is also a great film, but there really are too many to list. You can't go wrong with any of the early Bond movies, or the Indiana Jones/Back to the Future box sets.

I can see this thread is going to have about a million films in before it dies, good luck watching them all!

I love Bill Murray! :D Im glad to see someone else that does!

I have Life Aquatic, its pretty good but very strange - but judging what you have been watching, I think it will be right up your alley (probably not stranger than Eternal Sunshine anyway!). Other than that, I guess I would suggest Sin City if you havent seen it already, or the Butterfly Effect. Youd probably really enjoy Donnie Darko too.
